  1. Confronting Life and Death (of a pet)

” In Cuba, everything is a bribe—bus terminals, legal procedures, healthcare, education… even the tiniest things. So, of course, our veterinary clinic is no exception. And it hurts me deeply, because I’ve always had many cats and dogs. I’m well aware that in times of crisis, our animals suffer the most. The strays—better not even mention them.”

    1. Shades of Alan Lamport. He’s not just denying allegations – he’s denying the alligators!

    1. I’m sorry, but is this peer reviewed? ‘Cause if it ain’t, then it’s obviously a ploy by the far right to discredit their masters. And, and, even if it is peer reviewed, it’s still a far right ploy.

  2. Randy is on a roll. He lists the things we should be thankful for: Theresa Tam; free immigrant tent housing; etc

  3. What ever happened to the Iran-Israel-USA ceasefire? There was talk the bunker bombs were a bust. Israel was accused of violating the ceasefire. Everyone blamed Trump. And then … suddenly … nothing. Minor saber rattling from Iran. But is there a ceasefire? Are they polishing that Nobel peace prize for Trump? Is Iran’s atomic bomb program over? The last news seems to be on June 25, 2025.

    1. Since Iran lost the military battles, our corporate media has decided to stop its coverage, so as to avoid giving Trump and Netanyahu any credit. I have been watching coverage on YouTube such as Tousi TV and the Israel Guys. Also the Jerusalem Post and the Israel Times are worth reading online. The latter newspaper is somewhat more conservative than the former.

    1. 7 million pounds damage to military aircraft. Incomprehensible that vagrants on electric scooters were able to penetrate a UK military base. One would hope that similar behavior in the US would have fatal consequences.

  4. An interesting article on the upcoming singularity:
    https://www.popularmechanics.com/science/a65253231/2045-singularity-ray-kurzweil-prediction/

In this piece, singularity is defined as the merger of human minds with computer AI, in order to avoid the extermination of the human race. The article claims humans will become one million times more intelligent (fat chance). I had always thought singularity meant that computer AI becomes self reliant, and frees itself from human control.

    1. Who will finance the infrastructure?

      – oil revenues

Plus under the guise of the enemy of my enemy is my friend?
      – Russia?
      – China?
      – North Korea?
These countries would love a surrogate to make life difficult for Uncle Sam.
