Alberta used to be full of them, from the executive suites, down to the mailroom, from big rancher down to the guy running the honey truck, from the all pro bull rider to the mutton buster, from the rig pig to the billionaire. And it wasn’t just the men either I mean just look and listen to Danielle. They are a product of the true Alberta full of confidence, innovation and shear resolve, never take them lightly.

        1. Kenji, the Bow River ultimately flows into Hudson Bay, as explained below. If I were to build a pipeline to the Bay, I’d follow that watershed route. By the way, most rivers on the prairies flow north, due in large part to the Cypress Hills watershed area. A notable exception is the Milk River in southern Alberta, which flows into the Mississippi basin and on down to the Gulf of America (oops, Gulf of Mexico. My bad.) Excuse the nerdy commentary, but I love watersheds and river lore. Oh, and the Bow is one fine river, which I’ve experienced in Banff on through to Calgary.

  10. It’s a nice speech, but I just watched 9 years of parliament under Liberal rule, and it’s all a waste of time and breath. This joke of a system, with an unelected foreign king, a permanent bureaucracy that actually runs things, orders in council that give the PM unchecked power, unbanking, and a majority of Canadians that are perfectly fine with being treated like sheep, what’s the point of all the pretty words? As if a sudden majority “conservative” government would actually take any meaningful action.

  12. A very good, well thought out and intelligent speech. A speech that was completely wasted in a body that doesn’t matter. I’m sure the liarberal benches were just riveted to every word and have now seen the horrible errors of their ways. Their ways of the last 60 years.

    Yes! Indeed! More of this! But let us put our energy to where it will be of some use and not to just drift away in the Ottawa ether where the “important people” will not give it any weight at all

  14. Great speech, but its not about whats being said, its about who will hear or even more, LISTEN.

    I dont think the Majority of that House gives a crap. And anyone in Canada who MIGHT be swayed by that, wont hear its, unless they are on sites like this.

    Sad but i truly do ask, is there a point? Does Canada have a future that isnt as dismal as I forsee it to be??

      If you check out Andrew Lawton’s speech all the Lib seats are empty.
      These are a great bunch of new MP’s , brilliant speeches.
      But I share your pessimism MM.

        What a tragic state we have when MPs just dont have to show up. Never was able to do that in any of my previous careers or jobs.

  15. No one here will disagree with the futility of western rhetoric uttered in the colonial master’s parliament. But the warning uttered (something Preston was loath to do) of Alberta opting out of the big con is encouraging.

Very nice speech , but sadly not enough Canadians are hurting sufficiently (as shown by the recent election) to thoroughly crush and sweep the corrupt , incompetent , traitorous Liberals from power … and … also sadly the CPC leadership /backroom advisors do not show sufficient leadership to gain the confidence in some of the 50% of Canadians who voted for the Liberals.

    I like Poilivre , but have the feeling that he is “controlled opposition” , in the sense that his handlers and those who have funded him (whoever that is ???) effectively controlled his messaging so as to appear a change from Liberal policy , but not enough to imperil “their” status quo.

    For me the most convincing event was during COVID . Christine Anderson (MEP , Afd Germany) came to Canada and gave a speech on Freedom-Of-Speech in Ottawa attended by among others , 3 CPC MP’s . The media immediately denounced her as a Nazi , and Poilievre subsequently forced the 3 MP’s to publicly grovel for the dastardly act of attending the presentation on Freedom-Of-Speech or face being kicked out.

    Poilievre was certainly not onside with Freedom-Of-Speech then , and it appears wasn’t (???) on other major issues … environment , oil , pipelines, immigration etc. as he never mentioned them during the campaign.

    2. May I remind you of who signed the Foreign Investment and Protection Agreement with China? He also signed the Cooperation Plan Agreement with the PLA in 2013.

      That man was Pierre Pollievre’s old boss…Prime Minister Stephen Harper. (and yes, we were concerned then about FVEY). Oh, and by the way, Pollievre and Bernier both voted yes on the FIPA after a challenge from the NDP and Greens (blind squirrels and all that).

  18. Talk talk.. The best thing going for Canada at the moment is Trumps MAGA movement.. America is bouncing back economically and we are held up as a democrat proxy.. Carney knows the score.. We can not decline while America goes up for long before the voters notice..

    Zero carbon, open borders decline only works politically if everybody is doing it.. Its a big part of why the vested interests want him dead so bad.. Two very different government business plans.. Different, distinct, winners and losers.. The orange man is keeping our central planners up at night.. And that’s a good thing..

I caught an ad on youtube that said you cant dig any hole in Ontario (fence post) anymore without government approval?.. If I’m going to be a criminal I might as well dump my engine oil down the sewer.. Seeing as all the Dumb Duckery is unenforceable..

    IMO we have 100X more rules, regulations and laws on the books that are enforceable.. A situation where the government can cherry pick their enemies at will.. With a backdrop of overall decline.. Elon, come save us..

      Pessimism club for sure, because the “parliamentary” system is what you are seeing, namely done.
      Empty seats, empty promises, running on empty.

  21. Same happened to Reform when they stood to plead our case. Didn’t matter, that wasn’t the goal. The goal was to provide a vehicle to deflect the wests anger….and get a great pension.

    But a challenge to you all being so dismissive of the man’s words. He hinted a warning of the winds of independence (the “hammer”) and indicated his support. I at least do not remember a Reform MP making this kind of a threat.
