Curious about how the rebuilding in Southern California is going? Well, not so much rebuilding yet, but the clearing/cleaning of the lots is progressing. Here’s a video featuring Adam Carolla talking with Glenn, of American Wrecking.

Kudos to them for trying to salvage all those piers (caissons), tie beams, and concrete slabs in the pure sand soils. I’d try to retain all of that too. Nice sea wall BTW … extending deep under the sand. Would that actually help if all the sand around your neighbors properties was eroded-away? Doubtful. But some Global warming huckster contractor probably convinced the owner he could “save” his home when the giant tsunami caused by global warming EXTREME weather crashed into Malibu … that 30ft long “sea wall” retrofit probably cost the owner a $ Quarter million +
And also BTW … the “green” rebar is epoxy coated rebar that’s been in use since the mid 70’s in extremely corrosive environments … and ALL Cal Trans freeway work … and probably on Gavin Newsom’s “high speed” train between Modesto and Clovis.

The rebar on the high speed train’s not likely to experience any stress in the near term.
Look, I’m doing my bit. I’m high on speed. Where the hell’s my train?
Just curious … are you hoping to speed from Clovis to Modesto … or Modesto to Clovis?
FYI … Clovis is SOUTH of Modesto
Thank you so much for posting this video! I am a “construction slut”. I used to be a commercial interior designer, but always got involved with the actual construction – last gig was designing Timber Frame/Stick Frame vacation homes for millionaires at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort. Currently, I also watch a Vlog called “Escape to Rural France” about the re-building of a French chateau which was destroyed by fire in the late 1970’s, when the owner’s wife was chain-smoking in bed. Currently, the roofs have been constructed and this summer the slate tiles are being installed. Construction in France is quite different from that which I experienced. As well, there have been many improvements – most notably wireless switches for the electric lights which work great in the stone basement.
Love Adam Corolla’s sense of humour – not many guys called Adam working on the job site and his comments about the “Vig” – like Tony Soprano!
Hey! A little 15% “finders fee” is the industry standard … nothing shady about it
