Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

He forgot a Diesel submarine in dry dock and a naval museum in Calgary.
Ah and the twisted steel column from the twin towers on 9-11 down Crowchild.
When my kids were 5 and 7 we went to both military museums in Calgary and they really enjoyed it, (the Navy museum has since relocated to the Museum of the Regiments on Crowchild) explained the numbers written in stones where Currie Field used to be. I don’t think any of them are anti military at all, but they sure are anti Liberal, anti gun control, anti freedom for me but not for thee and don’t even get us started on Canada’s tier 3 medical system…
In another 15 years or so, the Canadian Navy will have a selection of great medium sized ships. No real idea of how the budget will be by then. So if the planet could just hold off on major strifes for a bit, realizing that it’s mostly the #Libranos in Ottawa who control the pursestrings to the military here, that’d be helpful.
speaking of navies, here’s a different Jimmy Carter:

strongly recommended for amateur military aficionados like me
I come from the duck and cover school drill era. So in about grade 3 the local air raid siren would go off for a test and we were taught to get down and cover our heads under our desks. As if that would save you from a nuke attack. I was not to worried about it as Calgary would never be a target of a USSR nuke attack. I was at peace with that until our science teacher pulled out his globe and showed us we were on the route of a nuke attack on L.A. and by the time the USA detected launch and sent up intercepts the intercept for L.A. in bound would happen at about ten miles north of Calgary. All the sudden he had every kids attention. Yeah good times.
Agreed! The Cuban Missile Crisis happened when I was in Grade 4 in 1960-61 in Ottawa. We also were told to get under our desks. I was a tall kid for age 8 and worried that I would not fit and I would be the only dead one. My “brother from another mother” was in the Catholic system in Niagara Falls, same age. The nuns told them to duck and cover (he was a tall kid as well) AND they had all the students “praying, praying and praying” for world peace. That year was when I started to not trust the K-12 system in Canada.
I guess that would make Cross Iron mills ground zero! Christ!
I remember the Air Raid Siren in my school yard at 17th and 25th street SW. I never heard it tested and then it disappeared eventually.
West Edmonton mall had a better submarine fleet for a period of time…… And Seb…. I too hid under a desk during my early grade school years
This sanctuary may be the only place on the Internet where the majority could take someone who still falls for the “hypersonic” BS seriously.
An example of a reasonable response to the tweet: “No idea where those times are coming from, but if they imply total time remaining before impact, then those missiles are traveling at Mach 60”. The author frankly says “I’m not sure what those times are”. Enough said.
Killer surfur unMe unDork, fat incel
Shouldn’t you be out running some of that fat off?
Why do you want to play a shithead? I know you can post coherently, so you aren’t fooling me.
I’m not sure about that, surfer. gym appears to have a Jekyll/Hyde personality disorder. Astoundingly, he displayed both sides of his persona in just two sentences of a single post.
Gotta hand it to gym. He should be the subject of many psycho-analyses studies.
unDORK and the pedo
Dumb and dunder dumb
Once fools like you understand I don’t take ANY posters in here seriously, you’s ain’t smart enough to take seriously!
FC , you helped drive off one of the few intellects that used to post in here.
Do you mind letting us know who those “few intellects” are, especially the one whom FC helped to drive away?
Also, as I have already told you, sometimes you just aren’t over-the-top enough in your attempts to sound like a shithead, so most people think you’re genuine.
Oh my goodness… a three-way!
So THAT’s my nickname gym? Pedo?
I am honored. /s
Of course you wouldn’t take any posters here seriously. I’ll bet almost everyone here hates your guts, you anti-social, antisemite, bigoted windbag! Geez… even the folks that don’t like me very much hates you.
Who would that intellect be, gym? And why would anything I had to say “drive him away.” Sounds to me like your pal can’t deal with the truth, so he (or she) ran off like a coward.
More likely, the wanderer thought maybe he/she had enough of you.
Anyone that resorts to debating tactics like gym’s, deserves to be throttled.
Gym’s not too bad, as long as he’s the only one like that, sometimes he actually sounds amusing. The real cancer are characters like Flintstone from 20000 BC or Kenji; the ones who are shit-stupid, but fancy themselves intelligent.
Intellects driven off? Nonsense. I’m still here.
Hypersonic missiles are alleged to travel at Mach 5 or 6,000 km per hour. Based on the pic those missiles are expected to travel about 1/4 times the Earth’s circumference (42,000 km) or roughly 10,000 km. This suggests a travel time of 1.5 hours and not 20-40 seconds.
Intercontinental ballistic missiles on the other hand are said to travel at 15,000 km/hr and would arrive in less than 45 minutes. This high speed is due to their “mid-course” flight which is in space.
All of this info is compliments of co-pilot so I have no idea if it’s true or not but I can assure everyone it takes more than 20 seconds (if you’ve ever watched a rocket take off into space). But I can also assure everyone it doesn’t matter because we have no military to speak of let alone a navy.
You’re forgetting the hypersonic missiles in subs parked all around the eastern and western seaboard. So, they won’t have to travel from Russia they’d have to travel from 20 to 30kms from the coast of a major city like NYC, Boston, LA, San Diego, Pearl Harbour, Norfolk, Jacksonville, etc…and maybe a few minutes to hit Washington D.C., Chicago, Detroit…etc. Won’t have enough time to react to a missile coming in at 6000kph.
I didn’t forget the subs. They weren’t on the graphic that showed hypersonic missiles being launched from China and Russia. But if you want to worry about something, worry about the terrorists who could technically walk among us. No delay there.
Yes, never forget about those formidable Ruϟϟischeschweinen submarines, like for example Kursk (I don’t expect more than 1 person here would get the reference). If you’re afraid of the Ruϟϟischeschweinen floating joke of a Navy, you probably ran away from your own shadow more than once. Their “Navy” is about as mighty as their Kuznetsov flagship that propels itself by means of 2 tugs and about s scary as the radio man from the Moskva cruiser (you know where it was sent to by Ukrainians).
That explains why Ukraine is winning.
That explains why what’s left of the Ruϟϟischeschweinen Black Arse, I mean Black Sea, fleet is hiding in Novorossiysk, only occasionally venturing out. And they were up against a country with hardly any Navy at all. As I have said before, I’m thinking, in an all-out war with NATO the entire Ruϟϟischeschweinen Navy would last for about as long as it would take of an average Russian sailor to drink his last gallon of vodka.
They’re called “hypersonic” missiles because they signed a promotional deal with Sonic the Hedgehog. When they want publicity, they shout, “Hype ‘er, Sonic!”
What sub captain is going to set off a nuke within 20 or 30 KM of his submarine? Suicidal.
Don’t destroy the fragile mind (or what’s left of it) of a schweinie-lover with common sense.
If Americans are really that concerned about Canada’s military capability then maybe their president shouldn’t have done everything in his power to support the campaign of the party whose idea of military capability is allowing male warrant officers to wear blue nail polish while singing the national anthem at a hockey game in uniform, and putting tampons in the men’s rooms. Just sayin’.
Their current president has no concerns other than entertaining himself.
Your military spending reduced to 1% of GDP during the years 2004 to 2016. Your personnel was also reduced during that period.
Who was in charge of your government during that time? Yes, yes, a certain party has definitely taken advantage of that, but another one opened the door and started the process. That process has not been addressed, and now you likely don’t have the money to do anything about it.
Canada, you have a problem that is endemic throughout your political institutions, and you need to be aware of that. Britain just gave both Labor and Tories a bit of a poke; perhaps you should look to Jolly Olde England for some tips (since you won’t listen to your southern neighbors). Quit playing team politics and demand accountability from all; you have not one party that shouldn’t be hiding from your people after the mess they’ve ALL turned your country into.
You are a hazard to my country, and you are a hazard to yourselves. At this point the only safe thing to do is: allow the U.S. military to just take over your defense as you seem to be unable and apparently unwilling to do anything about it — but you’ll need to pay up or we’ll find a work around somehow and let the chips fall where they may.
PS. the hypersonic missile hype is to some extent hype, but strategic missile strikes are not hype — doesn’t matter if they are ‘hypersonic’ or not
“The hypersonic missile hype” is 100% hype when it comes from the Ruϟϟischeschweinen Propaganden (Kinzhal is only “hypersonic” for as long as the boost from its MiG-31 launch platform lasts) and I, believe, the Chinese ones are based on the Russian models.
That’s basically what I said along with the caveat that a missile is still a missile and thus must be protected against. I shall try to be more exact next time so the rest of the message is listened to and not the finer details addressed only.
In the next war, Liberals will make Canada a sort of Vichy France.
The point about our navy is broadly correct, but… Whatever those times are, in that image in the tweet, are a flashing alarm indicator that the poster is, well, not entirely informed. There’s no Earthly way those times could represent missile flight times to target.
So I don’t know if that qualifies as mis or dis or mal information but whatever it is, it’s dumb, and it entirely wrecks whatever point one might try to make with it.
What about the Digby fishing fleet?
Never underestimate a strategic scallop.
Draggers are easily converted to anti-submarine work. What about these fleets of knuckle draggers we keep hearing about?
they forgot about our most potent deterrent, Mr. Canoehead!
Coupled with the Elbows UP counterstrike.
“Why do I mock the Canadian “navy” every single week?”
That is shameful behaviour, he probably mocks other handicapped groups too.
Leaving aside foreigners’ legitimate complaints about our country not pulling its weight among the civilized democracies, there’s one question for Canadians that feel free to “mock” the Canadian Armed Forces:
What did you do about it, as a voter, as a taxpayer, as someone of military age?
I put the mean answer to that question somewhere near eff-all.
What sub captain is going to set off a nuke within 20 or 30 KM of his submarine? Suicidal.
Actually, Canada just purchased a Missile Detection System from Australia last month. That system cost $6 Billion. Also, another $420 Million has been appropriated to expand Canada’s northern military presence year round. Another $253 Million is to upgrade the power plants there. Carney said it was to assert sovereignty in the Arctic.
Here’s the part your media hides. This $6.6 Billion had passed your budget process a long while ago, but none of it was ever appropriated. I’d guess the money went elsewhere, and now there is a bit of scrambling going on (especially to serve up the $6 Billion to Australia).
