If Trump is such an existential threat to Canada, what explains the conciliatory tone that we’re now hearing from both Trump and our newly elected PM? The timing seems more than a little odd, but maybe there’s more to it than meets the eye.
If you’re like me you are scratching your head trying decode exactly what is Donald Trump’s play with Mark Carney? None of it makes any sense. We’ve gone from Carney’ reckless we’re done with America speech to a digital snog between the two men evoking an 80’s romcom, just 24 hours later.
Carney represents everything Trump claims to hate. He’s progressive, net-zero obsessed, effete and a globalist.
For all his good points, Trump hates being publicly embarrassed and is known for his brutal and sometimes comical retaliations. Yet Carney pokes away with hardly a jab. Hmmmm.
The gist is that Brookfield, Carney’s now former company — bailed out Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner to the tune of 1B. in an odd-looking deal even the Financial Times struggles to figure out.

If you didn’t realize Carnage was going to fold like a cheap suit to Trump the day after the election you weren’t paying attention. So much for ‘elbows up’
Brookfield bailed out Kushner? Now we know why he was picked: to blackmail Trump.

I still stand by this.

America will get what it wants. Us? Not so much. Home Equity Tax. More Carbon Taxes, including for exhaling. Refusing MAiD Tax.
I wonder if Poilievre knew?
Trump said the same thing during campaign. He criticized Pierre for not being MAGA and went on record stating that Carnage would be easier to deal with. If the stories about Brookfield-Musk-Twitter and Brookfield-Trump Family (see below) are true it makes sense.
EDIT: they are true:

Who is the f@#$ing genius that decided that Brookfield helping Musk buy Twitter was not a topic to highlight before the election? Seriously, that’s like Mudslinging 101.
Awkward and getting awkarder (if true):

Funny how this wasn’t the news few days ago.
What a shock, Carney folded like a deck of cards…its almost like Trump got exactly what he wanted.
Nobody folded. Trump and Carnage are old palls. Try to keep up.
The ego that walks…

He’s got all this top flight legal talent fighting some unhinged District Judges, basically telling them that El Salvador is a sovereign nation that the US can’t just tell what to do re their own citizens, and then you have have Trump backstabbing them saying yeh, he can get the perp back, if he wants.
He just can’t help himself.
One thing about Trump, he’ll take questions. I’ve never seen another politician like him. You might not get an answer but he doesn’t run from the press.
“It’s a big club and you ain’t in it”
Hm, I don’t have that much faith in Trump to exclude the possibility he may be in moral if not financial debt to Carney or his “former” company.
When two filthy rich business men conspire, it may not turn out to be as rosy as everyone expects.
Trump and carney are joined at the hip for some reason Used to like Trump but he is no better than the rest of these weasels
A cabal of billionaires running the US. I don’t know if Carnival is in that class but he’s dealt with many of them in his former capacities. A tell might be If Trump lays off Carnival? It’s not Trump’s style to go easy on Canada.
If we don’t hear a “Governor Carney” within two weeks, maybe less, we’ll know somethings rotten in Greenland.
Trump and Carney have business dealings Its almost and I mean almost worth it to see how stunned you eastern clowns are you voted in the very guy thats cozy with Trump.Unfnbelievable nobody is that stupid but there it is.
Yup, still trying to compute the ndpers voting for a global investment banker, who claims to want expedited pipelines and fast track environment studies, so more oil and gas can be produced and sold around the world. A leader who never explained why his company was sending money to tax havens, and wouldn’t say where he pays his taxes. Yet ndpers strategically voted for him as leader?!?
Smells fishy, but would he put his whole presidency in jeopardy to bail out his son in law?
Trump himself has filed for bankruptcy before, a bankruptcy would have relieved Kushner of an albatross.
If this is as bad as it looks, then let Trump answer for it, it’s not like he has to worry about another election.
The entire MSM and the dems have spent close to a decade looking for any dirt they could find on Trump –
what have they come up with?
He’s a convicted felony. No?
Convicted of an entirely invented felony. He proved at trial that no crime had been committed. No one “found” anything, they just made it up. Not that you care.
What’s Trump’s angle?
How about, Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer! This isn’t Trumps first rodeo with a bankster.
During the election, I was thinking that the reason Trump wanted Carney, was because the cee eye aah had the kinky dirt on ol’ carnhole, and his ties to the ep stein.
Leverage is everything, when negotiating.
The fix was in. This was all planned from the start. The Liberal party hierarchy made a deal with Trump,s handlers. Use Trump as an existential threat to Canada. Leverage fear to make Carney Canada,s savior. Interesting that Trump fell silent for most of the campaign until about the time when advanced polls opened. He raises his voice again to play right into the Liberal,s hand. Would this not be considered election interference? Just saying.
Canadians vastly overestimate the importance of their nation, in Trump’s overall plan. Get over it.
Canada is a 5-eyes nation, sharing ~5500 miles of largely unsecured borders. We are virtually fused as a military partnership, even moreso than the UK. They are a direct land route to Alaska, and a ‘reliable’ energy provider. The possess massive deposits of oil and mineral wealth, You underestimate Canada’s importance in Trump’s ‘overall plan’.. Trump will not allow a Chinese strategic port control or ‘belt and road’ initiatives to progress in Canada, and he is already more than a little concerned by China’s malign influence steadily creeping throughout Canada’s halls of power. Carney needs to be very careful about how he ‘threads the needle’ going forward. ‘Friends’ or not, Trump is both ruthless and vindictive, and if Trump feels that Carney is going to be a liability, or worse.. a US national security threat, Trump won’t hesitate to bury him.
Well now… You’re welcome. I believe I cracked this little nugget quite a number of days ago.
Nice of everyone to join the club. For a moment there, I thought no one would show up.
What if Carnage is such a liar, that he is the Canadian Version of MAGA?
The modern versus of Jean Chretien.
Say one thing,do opposite.
We know Carney lies,he seemed the most consistent liar of those being selected to replace Justine.
Would be one hell of a joke on our Progressive Comrades,to have selected a new Dear Leader, willing to tell any untruth to get control of “The Power”.
Is Carnet a plant,a front for The Evil Orange Man’s plot to take over Canada?
Can Dudley Dooright.??…Nevermind.
George Carlin was right.
Now we just need Trump Carney minerals deal between Canada and the US.
Once again, “Prominent players in New York real estate market make New York real estate deal” is not a scandal. Even if one of them is related to Trump, and therefore necessarily evil incarnate. Other than that incarnate evil, what is there to see here?
From what I hear Trump would like to move our auto manufacturing to The States. Coincidentally Carney wants to end all gas fueled car production in Canada by 2030. Win win. Except for Canadians. It’s lose lose.
Trump just inked a deal with the government of Qatar to build a golf resort there.
Is Trump looking after the interests of the USA or his own bottom line?
Surely a president of any sense would want to look after both?
