  1. The same disastrous leftist policies and over-taxation of the previous 10 years, along with new horrors like the home equity tax shake-down, are going to keep hurting and impoverishing Canadians for years to come now. But the Libs will just blame Trump’s tariffs and other Trump policies, and Canadians will fall for it.
Canadians will believe that the p*ss down their backs is rain.

… “the federal government has taken hostile actions against Alberta,
and against the Constitution, and against our right to develop our resources”

    1. Yup.
Many Canadians fail to understand just how vicious and corrupt the federal government is.
      Especially under Liberal Leadership.
Revenue Canada is an active Partisan Attack Dog, more than happy to be used,to crush any who threaten the status quo.
The RCMP have repeatedly shown their contempt for the tax paying citizen.
They are State Police and not in any geographical sense.
Their behaviour at Coutts being yet another example.
As no one in authority gives a damn about burnt churches, there have been almost zero charges or even serious investigation..
For a free discussion the Political police need booted ASAP.

To diminish some of these past abuses ,the Alberta Government needs to take a side, that of Albertans.
The current changes are a good start.

A provincial police force is required, carefully vetted to ensure the worst of the RCMP get gone.
Revenue Alberta needs to take over all Federal collections.
And draconian penalties need to be carried out on everyone who attempts to abuse the power of the State.
      Law must be restored.
      “Might Have” crimes are insanity.

  2. To have some capricious unaccountable bureaucrat attach a notional value to a home that they haven’t even seen is a frightening prospect.

    1. It’s done all the time in British Columbia. B. C. Assessment does that to determine property tax.

The house I inherited was built in 1963. Over the years, it became somewhat run down and, after my father died, I had it appraised. BCA figured it was worth at least 25% more, even though nobody from that agency ever took at look at the place or the yard. It based the value on “comparable” houses in “similar” neighbourhoods.

I explained my situation to BCA and got a measly 8% taken off. How generous of them.

      1. And you have to pay the cost to dispute it. And, no you don’t get it back if you’re proven correct.

  3. It is impossible to have any sympathy for a once-free nation that just voted its way into the Gulag.

  4. More VDH brilliance, pulling it all together, exposing the great Canadian Trump Temper Tantrum that trapped the Conservatives, who instead of being the adult in the room joined the collectivist party, destroying differentiation.

VDH’s larger context gets to what Trump is after, but agree he miscalculated with his 51st state speciousness.

    1. Pee Pee never missed an opportunity to miss an opportunity or to shoot himself in the foot.

      1. You don’t seem to miss any opportunities to prove yourself the fool, PP – pajama puke.
