Canadians face more than a quarter billion a year in higher costs for heating and cooling after Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson’s department yesterday adopted California efficiency standards for essential home appliances. Costs will be “passed on to consumers.”
New regulations under the Energy Efficiency Act apply “more stringent” California standards to fixtures and appliances like air conditioners, faucets, gas furnaces, heat pumps, light fixtures, pool pumps, showerheads and water heaters. Enforcement will be phased in by increments beginning this October to 2029.
The new “normal” is the government going to war against it’s own citizens, impoverishing them to make their lives “better.”

I hate to say I told you so, but after yesterday’s subsidy on modular housing I said “appliances will be next.” On an ironic note, this afternoon Trump signed and executive order allowing the manufacture of showerheads that actually shoot water out…and not just a tree hugging mist.

The vast majority of other tariffed countries have signalled they’d like to negotiate those tariffs, hence The President suspending tariffs for 90 days, while tier 2 Canada is still looking for a fight, siding with China against the USA. Kevin O’Leary is stating now that US tariffs on Chinese goods should go to 400% instead of the current 145% lol…

It doesn’t add up, does it? Every campaign stop, every press conference, every pronouncement is a “wedge issue”. That’s not how you secure a majority. And, ramming through a $25 Billion subsidy on modular homes, then following it up the next day with a barbaric, limiting, anti-competition energy policy taken from California of all places is just mind boggling. Perhaps the polls you are seeing aren’t reflective of reality, and they know a tidal wave is coming….and they need to instill these agenda driven boondoggles in advance of 4/28. Otherwise, they are just incompetent boobs. I suppose both are legitimate possibilities.

Politicians and their uneducated followers, have no idea that it takes X number of BTUs to heat Y amount of water or air from an undesired temperature to the desired temperature. Physics doesn’t care about regulations, except the regulations keeping the thing from blowing up or catching fire.
