      1. If they renamed the team The Edmonton Eunuchs they wouldn’t have needed to change their logo either.

      2. When the Edmonton Eskimos became the Edmonton Ungulates, didn’t attendance drop 10,000 per game and the 75 year old non-profit organization was forced to sell the team to a businessman. That is quite the measure of success.

        1. I long stopped following the CFL, the Edmonton team in particular, after that ridiculous name change.

You’re probably right, but the name change also came at a time when things were turning rough in this country thanks to Prime Minister Dumbass, so personal economics might have a lot to do with lower attendance.

    1. The NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB are all more popular with the Left in the US.
I watch none of them and could care less.
It’s entertainment and it’s gone Woke.
So much else in the world to enjoy.

      1. TOTALLY AGREE…………they can change to GAY PRIDE COLORED UNIFORMS for all we care…………like they say GO WOKE, GO BROKE…………..INSANITY

        1. I always think of the “Springtime for Hitler and Germany” production number from the Broadway show The Producers, when I read of things like this. I also think of the once proud Canadian Military, goose-stepping to Springtime.

      2. I believe sports has gone fully leftist in the USA for purely “business” reasons. They have learned it is primarily leftists who follow them. Their fan base is primarily leftist POC. Those are the people who are mostly unemployed, and underemployed with the free time to give a shit, and to follow the sports.

As for myself … I haven’t been able to name a single player on the S.F. Giants since they started wearing the ‘GIGANTES’ jerseys because Mexicans or something. Not to mention their LGBTQueer-night(s). Nor can I name a single Oakland, err Vegas, err Sacramento A’s player

  1. It’s a Katz thing…and I doubt very much he’d thumb his nose at his fellow billionaire owners.
Further I doubt he cares…the Oilers could wear crinolines as part of their hockey gear and he’d still put asses in the seats. He’s selling a product and knows your average run of the mill sports fanatic needs his fix.
And why Harold Ballard was a business genius…why spend millions on a product when chumps will fill the arena whether the Leafs are in first or last.

  2. The problem is, the seats will still be full and next year’s seats sold out. Bud Light sales probably didn’t drop a bit in Edmonton.

    1. Bud Light sales probably went up in the Lieberal Democratic Peoples Republic of Kanada. Unsold product was probably relabelled and shipped north.

  3. I wonder if they will make Carney’s transgender daughter an honorary member of the team.

      1. Your SDA handle:
A friend told me an amusing story about the mother of one his own friends. She was on her death bed surrounded by family members. Moments before the end she turned toward them saying “it’s all bullshit”. At 75 I’m struggling with this seeming truism.

  4. There was a time when commie f@ggot was an insult.

Now the left sees it as a point of pride, only concerned with the terminology.

  5. What these assholes fail to realize is that endorsing the Letter People is political.
And at their foundation, both groups are anti straight white male.
    You can’t please your enemies.

    1. Even those of us who oppose these perverted cultural Marxists have accepted some of their loaded terms.

      Such as “straight”.

I continue to use the proper term, “normal”.

  6. Good grief! That logo makes me want to go look for the ice cream truck and then play some Pokémon.

  7. I’m just amazed they still call themselves “Oilers” and not the Edmonton Earth-Destroying Fossil Fuel Climate Catastrophe Monsters.

  8. A usual sign of an oil leak is a rainbow sheen on water. People then get excited and clean up the pollution. Maybe the same thing should happen with the oilers. Symbolism doesn’t seem to serve the oilers well, they lost after Carney did a photo op with them and now this.

  9. I’m old enough to remember when the team insignia was for the Alberta Oilers of the now-defunct WHA. When that team became part of the NHL, I don’t think much revision of the insignia was required.

Then again, when I used to work in industry, there was a saying: if it works, don’t fix it.

  10. Is this a hockey team logo or a logo for some psychedelic acid infused enema for questioning minors? You think it’ll sell well for those jersey collectors?

  11. For the players who were sexually abused as kids by their coaches on the way to the NHL, is this a good thing or a painful reminder? Or does an NHL salary make that sort of thing tolerable – it’s just the dues you have to pay?
