An LGBT activist teacher in Colorado and her trans-identifying male husband are housing a 17-year-old girl who identifies as a boy. Police say they are unable to intervene to bring the teen home to her mother.
JoAnn Smotherman, a former math teacher at Durango High School, took the teen, one of her students, into her Durango home in December when the girl left home after a fight with her mother. JoAnn is married to Vivian Smotherman, a trans-identifying man who ran for Colorado State Senate as a Democrat last year.
The teen’s mother, Cynthia Stein, has gone to the Smothermans’ home and attempted, unsuccessfully, to take back her daughter. She called in the police, but the officers who responded to the scene said they would not force the teen to go home, according to the police report and body cam footage of the incident obtained by The Daily Wire.

1. Absolute authoritarianism without accountability
2. Zero tolerance for criticism or questions
3. Lack of meaningful financial disclosure regarding budget
4. Unreasonable fears about the outside world that often involve evil conspiracies and persecutions
5. A belief that former followers are always wrong for leaving and there is never a legitimate reason for anyone else to leave
6. Abuse of members
7. Records, books, articles, or programs documenting the abuses of the leader or group
8. Followers feeling they are never able to be “good enough”
9. A belief that the leader is right at all times
10. A belief that the leader is the exclusive means of knowing “truth” or giving validation
I think it’s more that this is where you end up when you keep insisting that parents have no rights over their own children, and no power to enforce their will.
So here we are. A 17 year old is legally required to do what her parents say, until she is 18. If she steals a car, Mom is most certainly on the hook for it.
But Catch 22, the authorities will NOT move to protect the mother or the child from LGBTQFBICIA “activists” because… well no reason, really. What they’re doing is obviously and profoundly illegal, and the cops are supposed to intervene. It’ll just look bad on TV or something, so they pretend they “can’t do anything”. They can, and they are supposed to, but they -won’t-. Deliberate and politically motivated dereliction of duty.
If the mother was a billionaire and had the money to hire Big Law Firm to enforce her rights, that daughter would be 30 years old before the courts finally decided, and it would cost millions.
So what’s Mom going to do here? She’s pretty well f-ed, to my eye. Unless some activists might encounter a series of unfortunate events, she’s going to walk away and lose her daughter to the freaks.

Maybe Cynthia Stein should dump all the teenager’s costs including food, clothing and medicine on teacher JoAnn Smotherman (and the state) since the state refuses to recognize Stein’s parental rights. Let Smotherman foot the bills as long as she’s playing mom.
