2. The equivalent to the Broken Window Fallacy.
   Every purchase has an amortization of cost. Your natural gas furnace, for example, has a lifespan that amortizes it’s cost of ownership and usage. The Carbon Kult can’t do math.
   I have a Vancouver designed and built Airco natgas furnace. Good efficiency clamshell design with at least 80 percent heat transfer efficiency. Recently gave it a clean up and new blower motor (easily available and only $150). Good for at least another 20 years.
   A heat pump peddlar came around and told me I can save money with the heat pump. The heat pump has a lifespan of 20 to 25 years. So I said, let’s do the math. What is my electricity bill going to be over those 25 years, with the cost of the heat pump amortized and what is my nat gas bill going to be over 25 years, with no costs required to be amortized as I already have the furnace. Using today’s electricity charges and nat gas charges (as I would expect the cost of both to rise equally over the years). I wanted to do this for my own benefit and possible smugness.
   Smugness it was. I would save thousands in heating costs. All the heat pump rep guy could say is “But…”
   It is unfortunate that most Lefties and Central Bank Governors cannot go beyond First Order of thinking. The real costs are buried in Second and Third Order Affects and Effects.

      So, evidently is the ability to think.

   2. I looked at going all electric, HW boiler, fancoil, water heater, and have gas meter service locked out by utility. (Zero gas service, no fixed charges. Only elec).
      Couldn’t save on operting cost, let alone equipment amortization.

      Around a dozen years ago our Amana heat pump furnace was on it’s last legs. Just for shits an’ giggles we dropped by the local heat pump sales office to inquire.

      Oh, gawd, yes! These systems will save you nothing but money! Prove it. Do you have a spreadsheet that we can punch a few numbers into, see what side of the bread is buttered? Nope. Thx. Bye!

      Went home, rustled up a spreadsheet in about 10 mins, compared numbers. Heat pumps couldn’t even come close.

      Maybe that’s why they didn’t bother doing one up themselves.

      1. When I say Amana heat pump, it was almost a mini-boiler, not one of these newfangled dig-a-hole-in-the-ground pieces of garbage. Very efficient, very cheap to operate & had a near endless supply of hot water. Could run two showers at the same time w/ no issues.

3. It has made some people richer, for sure. Dale Vince, an eco-tycoon, has made a fortune out of building unreliable energy. So have lots of fat cats in the City of London, lots of big landowners in the Highlands of Scotland and lots of manufacturers in China. I have lost count of the number of times wealthy people have told me I am wrong to criticise the unreliable energy industry because “my son Torquil’s fund has done rather well”. Net Zero crony-capitalism is efficient at one thing: transferring money from poor people to rich people.

4. Net Zero is a dubious business plan.. Where you get to ban all the competition because you are saving the world..
   Of course you are.. Measured by not solving the problem but by implementation of the draconian policy.. A self fulfilling prophecy of government spending.. A blank check monopoly that I shutter to call a business plan..

   Is that clear enough or should I go on?.. OK.. And the fact that this is on the ballot is proof of how much support trillions of borrowed money can produce.. A country that produces nothing but debt is not going to be around for long.. We are dead last in productivity and GDP.. And Net Zero Carnage will gladly put a pillow over our face..

   After ten years of Turdhole.. Its now or never to break the chain..

5. The heat pump is a device that that stands at the end of a very long manufacturing process. The mining, smelting and processing of several different metals, the machining and assembly in factories and shipping the completed units over the ocean and land (thank be diesel), to be installed with the help of heavy equipment and powered by electricity (most of it not clean). It is as beneficial to saving the planet as a 70s muscle car. Except muscle cars are cool. As for saving money, remember the big push for natural gas Canada engaged in some decades ago? Heat pumps will be on the shit list within 10 years. Any form of appliance that provides comfort will be.

6. Carney is promising Net Zero, or properly, Net Zero Growth, which Trudeau came very close to achieving with 0.14% GDP growth per capita per year over 10 years.

   It would be much worse if you take away government spending increases.

7. If we ever reach net zero … plants will die and we will not have much food.
