Since You Asked…

Danielle Smith-  At his request, I met with Prime Minister Mark Carney today. We had a very frank discussion in which I made it clear that Albertans will no longer tolerate the way we’ve been treated by the federal Liberals over the past 10 years.

I provided a specific list of demands the next Prime Minister, regardless of who that is, must address within the first six months of their term to avoid an unprecedented national unity crisis.

This includes:

• Guaranteeing Alberta full access to oil and gas corridors to the north, east, and west

• Repealing Bill C-69 (aka. “no new pipelines act”)

• Lifting the tanker ban off the BC coast

• Eliminating the oil and gas emissions cap, which is a production cap

• Scrapping the so-called Clean Electricity Regulations

• Ending the prohibition on single use plastics

• Abandoning the net-zero car mandate

• Returning oversight of the industrial carbon tax to the provinces

• Halting the federal censorship of energy companies

I also made it clear that Alberta, as owner of the resource, will not accept an export tax or restriction of Alberta’s oil and gas to the United States, and that our province is no longer agreeable to subsidizing other large provinces who are fully capable of funding themselves. Lastly, I made it clear that federal mismanagement of Jasper and Banff national parks resulted in last year’s tragic wildfire in Jasper and is endangering Banff, and the situation must be rectified immediately.

With the federal election about to be called, I encourage all Albertans to get involved in what is likely one of the most pivotal and important elections in our nation’s history, and to support the party and candidates that have consistently advocated for freeing Alberta from federal overreach and the repeated economic attacks our province has faced from Ottawa over the past 10 years.

    1. DS exceeds some expectations! She might have her head above swamp level.

      Undecided!

    2. As an American I would welcome the Albertans voting to join us as our 51st state.
      Alaskans voted and Hawaii voted.
The only way I want Alberta is if they vote to join us. They don’t want to then I’m cool with it. Their choice and their choice only just like Puerto Rico.
On the other hand if Quebec votes to join us, I would hope Trump says, “Non.”
Then Ottawa can get all the oil it needs from their close ideological friends in Iran and Venezuela.
Danielle Smith can the be named Energy Secretary under JD Vance in 2029

    1. Well, if he can position his portfolio ahead of the election, I wouldn’t put it past him. He’s a griftter and he’s about pocketing money, lots of it. Hey, it worked for Pelosi,,, and Canada has much weaker laws.
      Maybe he’d get a $200.00 fine.

  1. We’ll see. Brave words for sure.

What will she give up eventually. That’s what politicians do. She’s better than the rest, for sure, still, keep her feet to the fire to live up to her words.

    1. Yeah and don’t forget “I can assure you all the premiers love Chrystia Freeland. I just love her a little more than the rest of the premiers”

  2. Yes cgh, it’s a declaration. The cancerous federal gov’t has been attacking us for a decade.
If we accept their attacks without a plan to leave, we’ll be the frogs in hot water who are thinking, “do these legs still function”? Time is almost up.

As I commented on the election post earlier today:

It’s quite a list, much of it directed at resource management, a few items which I cannot see the federal #Libranos or other federal gov’t agreeing to formalise. I wouldn’t have any conversation with anyone federally without mentioning the monstrosity that equalisation has grown into, or that AB is far under represented in both sides of parliament compared to the 6 other welfare dependent provinces.
We’re never going to win that argument, we’ll only be equal after we’ve separated.

As I said on her FB page, I’d expect the federal gov’t to agree to this, then to fail to follow through, in other words, I expect them to lie about it, and hopefully it all blows up in their federal faces.

The Premier has mentioned the likelihood of a constitutional crisis if these demands are not met.
The Premier could have mentioned the expectation of a constitutional crisis….

and I can only hope so, as well as the zero possibility of Albertans accepting, “well, we tried” which swept everything under the rug for so long.

    1. Not just Alberta. No province in Canada needs the federal government for anything except Quebec and the Maritimes. All right, all right; perhaps Manitoba is permanently dependent because of their love of socialism.

      1. Manitoba can become undependent quickly as soon as federal restrictions on mining and hydro are gone.

  3. Carney has said that he plans to run for a seat in Alberta. He thinks that he’ll be elected because he’s the PM. A new beginning for Liberals in Alberta! Where will he run and are the Albertans in that Riding be shallow and selfish enough to vote for him?

    1. Just about any riding in Calgary or Edmonton would guarantee Carney a seat. Especially with Team Canaduh emotions running high. If Alberta ever were to separate, we’d have to deport half of the province to Onterrible or BC.

      1. Seems to me that Anne McLellan had a pretty safe seat in Edmonton for a long time. Perhaps demographics have changed some, but Redmonton would likely have a home for Old Carney.

        1. The Edmonton fake stream media, even the sports shows, perhaps especially the sports shows were earning their libranos subsidy yesterday — full blown gaslighting and propagandizing for KK (kingk Karney) . And today KK was skating with the Oilers. I’m sure the librano handlers made sure there were no Stanfield — Charlie Brown pull back the ball moments!

      2. Hey, the Bastard skated with the Oilers this morning!
That ought to make him a winner especially here in E’town. As well that will guaranfiggintee the Oilers a stanley cup too!
        How good can life get!!

    2. Alberta voters are about 3% different from Ontario voters. He could win any larger city urban riding.

    3. He should run for Fort Smith NWT where he was born and his dad ran
      the local residential school?

      1. His dad also ran for the libranos in Edmonton, Strathcona! An easy librano riding.

  4. Makes me wonder if she’s seen some polling that’s moving AB closer to separatist majority territory.

    1. I’d be interested in this. My numbers are a few years old, but it seems to me that Alberta really does not go under 25% support for UDI (when Conservatives control the federal Parliament), but, also, really does not exceed 40% support for UDI (when Liberals control the federal Parliament).

    1. Been abused for more than 10 years and still want to shear a country with the abusers? I’m not a doctor but I call it Stockholm Syndrome.

      1. The citizens have Stockholm syndrome and the politicians have Munchausen syndrome by proxy.

    1. Exactly.
      Talk and words are cheap.
What is she going to do if Marx Carbon fuddle duddles?

  5. The clock is ticking. If Carney or Poilievre do not act in all Canadian’s interests by adhering to her agenda, it would be right and proper for her as the leader of that Province to shop around, looking for a better Federal state to align with. She could invite Trump to come to the aid of her population. The coming Federal election could well prove to be a referendum on the future of Canada.
And I for one welcome it.

    1. Alberta could stand alone as a separate country….although I think Saskatchewan and a large part of B.C. would join. Alberta has about the same population as Norway. Finland or Denmark. The GDP per capita of Alberta is far above that of Finland and Denmark and about the same as that of Norway. After all, Ukraine unilaterally split from the former Soviet Union because it refused to be dictated to by Moscow.

  6. re Carney running in a Alberta riding.
So that’s why he was on the ice, skating with the Oilers today, at their practice.

    1. I believe that would be APRIL 28th, gym. The most talked-about dates are April 28th, or May 5th.
I had to raise an eyebrow when I saw your post, because March 28th was just a tad bit too early, seeing that we’re already at March 20, and the writ hasn’t even been dropped yet.

It also didn’t help that March 28 falls on a Friday this year, and elections are held on Mondays, or a Tuesday if the preceding Monday was a holiday.

(yeah, I admit, that felt good, and I didn’t even feel the need for a parting shot.)

  7. Thank you Danielle.

Next, “A well regulated Militia is necessary to the security of a free State”

  8. “our province is no longer agreeable to subsidizing other large provinces who are fully capable of funding themselves”

She’s saying Alberta will opt out of equalization? We better be the ones collecting the taxes then, and administering our own pension plan.

  9. Corus radio in redmonton has been carrying Carnival around in a sedan chair all day. Gushing about him.

My guess is he runs in “the other Randy’s” riding. He’ll win and influence a lot of the local ridings. The mare of redmonton will seek a librano seat.

Carnival comes with serious dangerous baggage. His old lady. Gerald Butts. Evan Solomon. I’m sure there are others behind the curtains.

  10. “ She’s saying Alberta will opt out of equalization? ”

Alberta can’t opt out. It’s entrenched in the constitution !

  11. The abuse of western Canada by CON-figuration is nothing new. There has been decades of this abuse and robbery. Demonstrated by the repeated protest movements…CCF, SoCreds, Progressives and Reform, all from the west!

    “CON-federation” is a con!
Holding westerners in a colonial status they desperately need to shake themselves free of.
    ““What you allow, will continue.”
Let’s make a break for the door…it will do much for our self respect.
“When you have a lot of trees you have to at some point…see the forest.”
““There’s a monument that stands at the Alamo, it’s there not because they won…but because they fought.”

  12. I heard she got Marx Carney to promise that this would be the most transparent government in Canadian history and that he would balance the budget by 2019.

Carney has on hire one of the clowns that wants 100 million serfs in Canada. This “country” will be even more unrecognizable than it is now. Alberta had better secede quickly. Polly ain’t gonna save us.

  13. She should start by announcing the cancellation of the RCMP contract and the establishment of an Alberta pension plan immediately. Time to back up the talk now.

  14. Fire the RCMP.
    Deputize every licensed gun owner.
We be better armed than our poor Military.

This “Alberta can’t opt out. It’s entrenched in the constitution !”
Funny how this “Constitution” only applies to to benefit the parasites.
Being a worthless document and a blatant lie in any other eyes.

That 13% taxation rate in the USA is mighty hard to resist.
But 10% in Buffalo would be even better

    Mark: “So does Justin !!”
