  1. I would love to see the same chart, except with growth of government rather than GDP. They say correlation is not causation, but in this case, I suspect the correlation would be so good as to be undeniable. Certain controls would be needed, i.e. tiny countries can skew the effect, but certainly if this were done for the top 20, it would be revealing.

    1. What we lack in GDP we made up in Diversity!

Or, to paraphrase Shel Silverstein: “My dad gave me one dollar bill; Cause I’m his smartest son, And I swapped it for two shiny quarters; Cause two is more than one!”

Justhin is lisping that poem today!!

  2. When you reject every industrial project for 10 years, companies quit asking. The upfront cost of pleasing bankers, environmentalists and whiny Indians along with a nearly 100% rate of rejection is simply too risky.

  3. I’ve never been accused of glass-half-fullism, but I’ll indulge in it here.

    1. We are on the chart
    2. We beat Luxembourg!

  4. While the position looks bleak, there is the reality that some countries don’t have to jump high to show increase.
There is, of course, difference when you go from 1 to 2 as opposed from 50 to 51.

The so called ‘Liberals’ are running down this country, the plebeians are good with that and will reelect them without giving it a second thought.

    1. Vito, don’t miss the forest for the trees. Canada has not grown GDP per capita for 10 years. During that time we have tripled public debt. That is it. No fix, no solution, bankrupt, it is just math. Ronald Reagan with Margaret Thatcher as finance minister could not fix this.

      1. I agree about forests and trees. It’s not complicated to get economic growth going again. Cancel the requirement for environmental assessment. On everything. EA serves no useful purpose whatsoever. Canada’s economic growth has been crippled ever since 1990 and EA was introduced by then-Environment Canada minister Lucien Bouchard.

        1. I thought that thirty years ago when I was actively involved in the resource sector. The laws and regulations designed to protect water, wildlife, air quality, etc were already in place so why the F..k do you have to jump through miles of hoops to say you’ll obey the law. It was all politics and the green NGOs behind it doing what they could to slow and or kill as much economic activity as possible.

          1. John, like you I’ve been involved with environmental assessment process for three decades. Lucien Bouchard created it for one reason: it would cripple industrial development in Canada. Remember, he was Mulroney’s Minister of the Environment BEFORE he founded Bloc Quebecois. His direct political interest was in crippling Canada’s economy.

This was a union of Gangreen and Quebec’s separatists finding common cause in doing this sabotage. Yes, Bouchard died a horrible death. Good, MOFO deserved it.

      2. Almost as bad as Mulroney and the spending spree the Conservatives left us with. One of the highest budgetary deficits in the G7. It took Chretien and Martin years to wrestle that down.

    2. Go watch Jordan peterson interview Jim Balsillie. thereis a bit on Mark CCP Carney. Then Sam Cooper (The Bureau), lots on Mark Carney.

  5. Gee, 2015-2024, what else has the same dates? oh yeah, Justin Trudeau. Canadians, being the infants they are, will refuse any responsibility, and elect Carney and the Liberals, cause Mommy Government will fix it. There is no fixing this. Canada. Is. Over.

  6. Don’t go by me, but it’s my understanding that GDP is a half assed way to determine wealth and actual productivity. There’s a lotof digging holes and filling them in that passes for economic activity.

    1. You’re not wrong, so how bad would this be if you removed public spending and bs make-work from this?

  7. Remember that GDP measures goods AND services. And many of those services are performed by government, and whose value is marked as a positive figure.

I would argue that most of the services that government performs should be counted as a negative, such as everything EDI, pushing sexual perversion, pushing gov’t propaganda, Marxism, etc.

And if you then throw in the millions of population-replacing foreigners, real productivity is very negative and has been for years.

    By design.

And this is why terrible indicators of productivity are used – to hide reality.

    1. Yes, like the completely made-up unemployment rate. When you look at things like the real employment rate, that’s when you swallow hard and start really worrying.

  8. The war on prosperity was the one war that the Spawn was capable of winning. Maurice Strong would have been proud. Carney can beat that. Take out government borrowing to cover deficits and that figure would be even lower, likely closer to zero growth.

    1. Zero????? We are at 1.4% over 10 years, not per year, total. That number is not significantly different than zero. During that time we have borrowed 50% of current GDP, or roughly 5% per year. Try negative growth. Lots of it.

  9. The CPC should use that graphic in the campaign and label it the “Liberal / NDP Decade”.

  10. Happy Happy Drones and Tanks.

Looks like Ireland can afford that war in Ukraine all by itself.

  11. Why don’t you dummies move to your Maga Fantasyland where you can live out your dreams, and we’ll all be happier?

    1. Careful meathead, suggesting the productive leave, leaves only the parasitic Liberal government class. Who do you feed on when the hosts leave? Each other, that’s who, but poor meals you make. I’m sitting on my $USD and buying popcorn.

      1. What exactly do a bunch of incel parts warehouse clerks that don’t get invited to family gatherings anymore produce, besides a bunch of drivel in their online safe spaces?

        1. It was a warehouse. The woman, the razor, the warehouse, it’s all coming together. Do have more whiskey, lad, there’s plenty.

          1. The warehouse. Were you actually in the warehouse? Or did the warehouse loom ominously over your boyhood and infect your dreams, and perhaps your… instincts? Let’s talk about this. We have bourbon and I’ll try to rustle up some peyote.

  12. Aside from patriotism, we should be asking ourselves where have we a better opportunity for the well being of ourselves and our families? That should be the crux of how we discuss this. Because the future and the grave don’t care what your political or national label is. Alberta should Wexit. I wish I could take credit for this comment but it came from a SDA contributor. (I lost his name)

  13. L- If Pierre Polivre can’t demolish the Mark (economic) Carnage Liberals using this chart alone;
while eating an apple. Then compromised machines are counting the ballots, instead of mankind.

The last data on fed. Political party war chests showed: C.P.C. $3 million, Liberals $1.5 million and the fed. N.D.P. a paltry $300,000. Mark Carny is in the race to pad his resumé. I doubt if the Deep State can get a candidate with zero political charisma elected.

The time of actors being posed as political leaders has devastated both Canada and Ukraine. But that subterfuge has run it’s sands of time in the hourglass.

Prof. Jordan Peterson explains, when people see a positive improvement in their income it generates a positive outlook on life, regardless of their actual wealth. What the graph doesn’t
show is the GDP per person has been negative in Canada for some time Disgruntled citizens tend to vote out the gov’t. In power for that reason.

    1. I wish that were so, but blubber Dougie? Idiotic Tim Houston? I don’t know, Canadians are really childish and stupid.

    2. We have to ensure that our voting systems are scrutinized NOW for transparency , reliability , honesty . Only legal citizens of Canada can vote , right? Paper ballots hand counted and recorded. Negative on machines counting votes . If we didn’t learn anything about election integrity from the US 2020 election shame on us !! 21 million Democrat votes disappeared when the spotlight was on integrity because rules were enforced . We need more time so the later the election the better ? Volunteer to be a scrutineer during the upcoming federal election.>

  14. Congrats Canada !! Your deindustrialization is BEST in the world! Better than Germany’s! You’re SAVING the planet harder than anyone

  15. Another interesting chart would be actual gdp per capita instead growth. 20 percent growth of piss-all is still piss-all.
