You’d think they could meet with some modular home manufacturers have a few energy efficient models of modest square footage and get the damn things built for a reasonable price, they should be able to come up with something that make sense.

In my youth, I spent a handful of years planting trees in the 70s, in BC and Alberta.
Back then, the reason for planting trees was to grow the next generation of timber for loggers and pulp dudes.
The only carbon capture I recall, was from choking around a campfire while smoking cigs and reefers.

Truth: in free societies, the Government doesn’t build houses. People do.
People decide they want to own land and a home. People buy the land and clear their homesites and cut their driveways. Then People build their own homes, either with a contractor’s help, or without.
When has it ever not been thus. But, even Conservatives parrot the line that “the Government” must build so many homes, as if discussing the Soviet wheat harvest’s deficits under the Kremlin’s latest Five Year Plan.
Government needs to just get out the way, lower the regulatory hurdles and let the People do their own work.
