A Carney Con?

Sun- Carney’s carbon tax ‘cut:’ Nothing more than smoke and mirrors

Here’s the truth: Carney didn’t repeal the carbon tax. He didn’t scrap the Greenhouse Gas Pollution Pricing Act, which is the legislation that gives the federal government the power to impose and raise the carbon tax whenever they want. All he did was press pause. The infrastructure is still in place. The federal government still holds the power to reinstate the tax at any time — and raise it to whatever level suits their political needs.

Even the CBC panel isn’t buying it.

  1. Jesus wept!
For some reason I clicked on the CBC link and saw Barton’s face.
    There goes breakfast.

  2. I have been saying is that all Crooked Marx Carnage will do is order everyone to bury it in and not disclose it.

  3. It will come back as a carbon levy.

Plus Marx Carnage will impose additional taxes on “big polluters”; the oil and gas industry, steel mills, cement plants (except those in Quebec).

    1. Meanwhile … here in the refreshing Trump States of America … Lee Zelden is maneuvering the EPA to rescind the “endangerment finding” that FALSELY claimed Co2 … any and all “manmade” Co2 … is poisoning the earth.

America is moving toward sanity … Canada continues to MAID themselves.

  4. It is very obvious that is what he is doing, but many people will fall for it.. Just wait until the next quarter after the rebates stop (last one is in April), probably after an election, people will be freaking out!

  5. Of course it will be a big con. Stinks already of McGuinty’s “I will not raise your taxes/this is not a tax”.
Librano$ are very good at this + Canadians have been groomed for decades into believing their crap.

  6. Carney is a wef-er justlike trudeau.
He wasen’t elected he was installed.
    Just like truedeau im told.
We need our own form of doge to find out how much the liberals have stolen from us.
If you think were taxed now and cant afford groceries, put carney in and watch what happens.

  7. And furthermore despite the Liberals raging against Orange Man Bad, he set the whole thing up to slavishly mimic Trump signing executive orders.

  8. In case some don’t know, the consumer pays regardless if it is direct of indirect tax.
Where do you think the enterprises get their money from.

The prime minister that was never elected and is not member of parliament will just shift the taxes around and the plebeians are gonna be happy.

Everybody pays, of course except the rich socialist aristocrats and so called civil servants will either hide their money or in case of the so called civil servants, they will ignore it, after all they get their money returned in their pay package.

As for CeeBeeCee, they are just well paid, in fact over their pay grade, influencers.

    1. The media is still referring to Carnage as “Canada’s newly elected Prime Minister.”

  9. Not an expert in Canadian politics but I don’t think Carnie can’t repeal the legislation directly. He would have to table a motion in Parliament for a vote and it’s closed down until March 24. He can set the price (seems dangerous to me) as the bill allows and so he set it to zero for now.

The only thing that will satisfy my conservative leaning is a dramatic reduction in government, including spending, followed by tax reductions. Anything else is a betrayal.

    1. Just declare a state of emergency for whatever flimsy reason you need and the Canadian judiciary will roll over like they did during COVID.

#problemsolvED as Inspector Clouseau would say.

  10. Carnage represents globalist business interests far more than the Canadian people.. Any gifts he might throw our way are election tricks.. The moment he gets his chair, it will be back to the NDP supported Net Zero rock pile.. You are to be managed, not served..

Really, the non politician anti-Trump from the other end of the spectrum.. To get things DONE..

  11. Oh, come on. Carney has never been elected to political office, so give him a break. It takes a while to acclimate into what you can get away with and what you cannot when lying on the political stage. There’s a learning curve involved here. So go easy on him.

Give him credit for #1: lying about the carbon tax & #2: Not satisfied with that deception, announcing that he would add to that expenditure through regular tax routes to hand out subsidies for subpar appliances with a tree sticker on it, and EV’s.

I said about a month ago that when this little self-entitled gnome gets rolling, he’s going to be about 10 times worse than Trudeau ever was. I stand by that. Trudeau was constantly virtue signaling to gain the approval of the globalist elites. Carney is one, and has the rest on speed dial.

    1. Did anyone else notice?
The removal of the fuel charge, as per the signed document, will become “effective” on April 1st.
The irony of the timing could not possibly have escaped the PMO.

  12. Maybe we need another raconteur like David Johnston to tell us a story…
noun \ˌra-ˌkän-ˈtər, -kən-\: a person who excels in telling anecdotes with skill and wit.
from Middle French, from raconter to tell

  13. Like most people here I’m very aware of linguistic ledgermain.
How fascinating it is to see the rapid, smooth and already well established phrase “consumer carbon tax”.
I’m still trying to understand the reason for the hoax being rebranded from “global warming” to “climate change”. But I jest: I figured it out instantly like most people here.

Apparently Carnage has a PhD in economics; therefore it is entirely possible that he’s not aware of the deception in the langauge.

  14. You’ll change your tune when the prices of everything start dropping. You just wait and see. Canada is back.

  15. “Carney’s the carbon tax cu*t.” There, I edited for them.
    “I’m a journalist!”
