I Want A New Country

Have they pulled Chinese booze off the shelves yet?

China fucked western CANADA late Friday with a 100% tariff on canola oil and peas.

Don’t think it’s serious Richardson last night late sent out a statement that they were pulling all bids for Canola effective immediately.

Cargill and all others will follow today.

All this to save a few electric car jobs that don’t even exist in eastern CANADA.

Were fucked and not a peep from any news outlet of the damage or liberal NDP politician.

@KenKluzSo much seed and chem is in our sheds, so we are stuck seeding canola, regardless what do you switch to as of rotation and other commodity prices. Far worse than 1970 or 1986

  1. Well that sucks about peas, but Canola oil is a toxin that should never be ingested. All seed oils are terrible for the human body, but Canola is the worst and its proper function is as a lubricant and not a cooking oil.

  2. Been feeding canola meal at $300 a ton.
Will desperation to sell Anything mean I could still pay $300 with a 25% us tariff?
Or will there be no meal as there is no oil crush?

  3. Be a shame if Canada stopped selling food to the Communists. Yep. And stopped selling them potash, and oil, and lumber…

    Cryin’ shame.

Let them buy it from middle men, at a jolly premium, after our guys get paid.

    1. That is what happened the last time (about 2 summers ago). The Chinese got all “pissy” and decided NOT to buy Canola Oil. Instead India stepped in and bought up much more and then turned around and sold it to the Chinese.
I hear you about the bad health risks with seed oils, but if the Chinese want to cook with Canola Oil – let them, they have a lot of mouths to feed!

  4. I’m a bit surprised we still have any tariffs on Chinese EVs, with all the Elon derangement syndrome going on in Canada.

    1. Do you remember how fast the cops cleared the border bridges to the USA during the Covid protests? Within hours. Nowhere else, only in Ontario.

Ford, GM and Chrysler. That’s why.

And that is why you can’t buy a Chinese EV or a Toyota Hilux Champ in N. America. They don’t call it a tariff, but it is one.

The Hilux Champ would be the biggest selling truck in N. America if they sold it here. $15K for a capable two-seat pickup? They’d be flying off the lots. And that’s why you can’t get one here. Because Ford, GM and Chrysler.

      1. And because of the back order book from apostles of the religion of peace, mount a machine gun in back and I think they call them “technicals”.

        1. I understand Big Three are still trying to move 2024s off their lots all over the USA. Particularly Chrysler, they’ve got unsold vehicles coming out their ears. Even 2023s.

Yep, nobody wants the crappy Euro-Jeep with the mickey mouse watch motor in it. What a surprise.

    2. The Fiberals want you to buy the 80,000 roller skate from the Big3, or the 50k POS from Hyundai, instead of the 15k Chinese roller skate. Yes, they are supposed to be that cheap.
Gotta protect those lazy, overpaid UAW union jobs in Morontariowe, dontcha know? They’re as important as the dairy cartel!

  5. “All this to save a few electric car jobs that don’t even exist in eastern CANADA.”
What about the steel and aluminium tariffs?
This is what many “conservatives” want: less trade with China.
You asked for it, now you’re getting it.
Back in the day, Canada had a domestic steel industry, before our country was sold out from under us.
We’ve always been a resource prostitute for the big players, but back in the day, we were a free-lance prostitute. Now we’re being pimped out by foreigners, thanks to our lick-spittle governments, both Con and Lib.

  6. Just watch – collapse the price of oil, potash, uranium farm products that aren’t supply managed and increase equalization to Quebec. Alberta and Saskatchewan do not vote correctly. But hey, a Canadian is a Canadian is a Canadian.

  7. Given the choice between having Fidelito or Doug Ford negotiate international trade arrangements, Canadians are well and truly fkkked. Of course, you could revert to the Red Dwarf, who wants to secure nuclear weapons as a tool of leverage in negotiations with the US; that is perfectly sane, isn’t it?

    1. I think Canada should have nuclear weapons, or at least should have had them before the country was totally destroyed.

      1. Meh…Canadians had never known what’s good for them. That’s why we’re here now.

      2. You’d trust those morons in Ottawa with nukes? Are you kidding me? Thank God we don’t have those!

  8. Will be interesting what crop insurance or any other revenue based insurance does with this.
China has done this before and expect them to buy canola on exchange to offset when they purchase again after other countries can’t supply. Will be watching closely starting with the overnight on the exchange, consider creating long positions.

    1. The Chicoms are experiencing some serious social unrest just now. The natives are restless, let’s just say.

I very much doubt they can afford to f- around with eliminating the -amazing- tonnage of food crops and oils they buy from Canada. 100% tariff on food, when there are riots all over the place because people are starving? Sure.

But I guess we’ll see. It wouldn’t be the first time the Chicoms starved 100 million into the grave.

    1. #ShinyPony saluted and said “Yes sir!” Then kowtowed to the phone. Then cried, after #WinnieThePooh hung up.

      Hence that jobs report.

    1. One would have thought that people have figured out that humans never learn from history. Its just not something we do.

      1. Expérience keeps a dear school. Our masters learn in no other, and scarce in that. And every time they have to repeat the course, her price goes up.

    2. I recall that this did happen a few years ago, and the world did not come to an end.

That was probably the real lesson. They can huff and puff, but they can’t blow your house down.

  9. Why is freely selling commodities to a neo-fascist nation run by commies an expectation while imposing 100% tariffs on their competitively advantageous manufactured products by another semi-fascist nation run by green Jacobins and Bolsheviks. Ontario was never going to be competitive in EVs unless one shares the mal-economic delusions of the Spawn’s tribe. Manufacturing will only be competitive here in the future with advanced AI and robots and that will only happen with lots of capital and our green commies have driven it away particularly from its most competitively advantageous industries. There are currently no capitalist economies as the state has morphed everywhere into variants of fascism. Everything but free trade is mercantilism and essentially another form of fascism.

    1. “Manufacturing will only be competitive here in the future with advanced AI and robots…”

Respectfully disagree, John. Ontario could easily be amazingly competitive. All the things that made Ontario great before are still here. The lakes, the St. Lawence Seaway, the roads, the rails, iron ore, aluminum, timber, oil from out West, all still here. Hamilton harbor, still there. Stelco still makes the steel for American cars too, bet you didn’t know that.

Take the iron boot of government off the necks of manufacturing, this place would boom. Keeping us poor is a government policy. They’re doing it deliberately.

      1. Not just that, Phantom.

By recognizing the “People’s Republic of China” as the legitimate government of China, and trading with it at all, the powers that be in the West demonstrated that they’d learnt precisely nothing from their experience with Nazi Germany, their first experiment in socialism with national characteristics.

Even if government regulation hadn’t been an issue, our masters knew very well that manufacturing just about anything could be done at a fraction of the cost in the West by slave labourers courtesy of Deng Xiaoping. That’s why they recognized Red China.

As an added bonus, this freed up the young men who should have been able to find good factory jobs at good pay for what their masters really wanted them for—to serve as cannon fodder in their mad “nation-building” schemes.

Needless to say, the generation that made nice with Deng Xiaoping fully expected to be beyond the reach of human justice by the time Red China had acquired the wherewithal to finally turn on the countries whose elites had bankrolled their war machine.

      2. The only thing that makes ontariowe competitive these days is stolen money from the west.

      3. “Stelco still makes the steel for American cars too”

Didn’t they quit in 2011. They process salvage and roll steel. Smelt new steel? I don’t think so.

    2. The auto industry came to Ontario in the 50’s because they had cheap hydro power. A few cents/kw. They had a young workforce and competitive taxes.

Not so today. Now it’s unioinistas, healthcare costs, expensive power and high taxes. Canada never did develop it’s own car.

      1. Do you remember there used to be Hudson, and Rambler/AMC, and Studebaker, and Willies, Ford/Mercury, GM/Pontiac/Buick, AND all the Japanese and Eurotrash as well? VW, Honda, Datsun, Toyota, MG, Rover, etc.

There used to be Canadian models of American cars too.

The Big Four became the Big Three and it is looking strongly like it’ll be the Big 2 before long, Stelantis/Chrysler is dying.

Tesla is the ONLY new car company to make it in N. America since WWII, I think. And that is only because they’re selling a brand-new product that only they can make, out of brand-new cutting edge factories with no unions in them.

Does anybody think the type of consolidation we’ve seen was the result of Capitalism and fair competition?

Nope. Straight up fascism. Friends of the Regime get to win, everybody else gets to lose.

  10. Forced by Trump on Chi-Com EV tariff,
Trudeau ‘negotiated’ the western Canada tariff.

    1. Because when I clicked, Canada’s response and there was nothing there,,,, I just assumed it was Kate’s brilliant sarcasm at work again.
      Fitting though, isn’t it !

  11. Since there appears to be no real link, I take it that “Canada’s response” is sarcasm?

  12. Honest question. Does the world wide demand change if China decides it’s not buying from Canada? I assume not, so the chinese have to find another source, which they will do by outbidding previous customers, which means the price has now gone up, and the customers who were buying the crop that China just paid
a premium for, need another source, which will be Canada.

    1. “Does the world wide demand change if China decides it’s not buying from Canada?”

No, they still have to buy. Their farmland is f-ed. This is all BS. They’re helping #ShinyPony punish those pesky Conservative voters in Western Canada.

If the Canadian government kicked the Chicoms out of the country and refused to sell them a single grain of wheat or anything else, they would -feel- it. That’s why they’ve bought off the Canadian government with money laundering, hookers and other things. If people knew what those “other things” were I’m sure we’d all be nauseous just from hearing about it.

That’s why #TheDonald is kicking the Canadian government in the b@ll$. The Chicoms bought them, he needs them gone. We need them gone too. Go #Donald.

    2. As what’s happened in the past, other countries will buy more Canadian canola now that it’s dropped $2.00@/bus
Those countries will sell it to the ChiComs for a buck less per bus than they were paying Canada, and the selling country will pocket the other dollar.
      – ChiComs buy canola for a buck less than they were paying direct from Canada, by crashing the market.
      – Other countries profit an extra buck for helping and selling the canola to the ChiComs.
      – Canadian farmers get $2.00/bus less for their work and investment growing it.
      – Canadian grain companies make the same profit as before, and make the same political donation to the LPC.

  13. China fukced western CANADA late Friday with a 100% tariff on canola oil and peas.

Eye on the ball, people. China didn’t fukc western Canada. Blackie did. Cause (EV tariffs) & effect (canola tariffs).

  14. It isn’t the first time, and it won’t be the last time, that tier 2 Canada’s response to the Chinese or other tariff minded countries, will lean heavy on the west, and light on the east, while holding onto their dairy and related marketing boards until the actual country is divided into something resembling the late Holy Roman Empire.

The western Canadian farmers who thought their days of tyranny and the Wheat Board are still trapped in Canada, maybe let your provincial Premier know how you feel about that.
Be mostly respectful, but firm, very firm, and don’t accept a compromise.

Note about Chinese liqueur, I can’t imagine drinking or eating Chinese sourced food products. It isn’t that I hate them as individuals, but I’ve seen their food preparation and so should others.

    1. I have tried “high-end” Chinese liquor. It is -appalling-. Smells like cheap perfume, tastes like pain.

The kind of stuff you’d hesitate to put in a parts washer, in case it might strip the plating off the bolts.

One sniff and my eyes watered. One little sip and I was done. I’ve had Everclear (which is awful), and the Chicom stuff was amazingly worse.

  15. “The strong do as they will, the weak suffer what they must.” – Herodotus.
Until Canada decides to be, on its own, a strong country, they will be at the whims of superpowers.

    1. You sound pretty chirpy for a guy who had a vegetable running his country three months ago.

  16. Canada hews wood and draws water much like russia. Manufacturing? Not so much.

We are neck deep in resources the world wants but refuse to exploit them.

In 1967 Canada stood 3rd in world income. Today we are 17th. A country as rich as Canada should be debt free and pay no income tax.

    1. Sorry, abtrapper. If you’re not a citizen of a Muslim petro-kingdom living off sales of oil to Red China, you don’t get to not be a tax- and debt-slave.

That’s another reason our masters hate the Russians. Russia pays her way. That’s how she’s able to stand up to the globalists.

  17. Have they pulled Chinese booze off the shelves yet?

Ford will pull Lucky Bastard and Backroads Spirits off the shelves in Ontario before he pulls the products made by the people who own him.

  18. So, honest question, not being from the free lands of the prairies, why don’t the farmers diversify, especially if this has happened before, and will likely happen again.
There are a few varieties of wheat, there’s barley, soy beans. Something else?
I get it if Canola pays a lot more, but now there’s an inherent risk of getting cut off at the knees every few years.

    1. It’s called crop rotation. We don’t grow the same crop year after year. That would promote disease. Oil seeds and legumes (peas) promote a healthy soil.

Growing season (frost free days) does not permit a lot of crops such as soybeans

  19. Chicoms are trying to be like Americans. What is SDAsylum crying about?

    1. Jessica pining for the days when the war-mongering retard Biden was in the White House.
      TDS takes another one.

  20. I have a question.
Since China just hit western Ag four times as hard as Trump was going to where is:

    Team Canada?
    Big Blubber Dougie’s Bluster?
    The news 24/7?
    The anti Chinese jingoism?
    The personal slurs at Xi?
The public cry to not buy Chinese?
    Trudeau’s tears?

The early Americans had an excellent turn of phrase “But when a long train of abuses and usurpations….”

FFS AB and SK, grow a set and get on with it.

  21. Oh come on, us plucky Canadians just need to keep our elbows up!!! Go team Canada!! Go uniparty!!

  22. Canada Toast, all you can say, sadly. Rail announcement, prime contractor, you know who. Ships to Irving, golly wonder who they support? Throw dirt and other at China, they SMOKE AG IN WEST CANADA. Then, new Lib Annointed dude comes in, same crap, same pile, feed East, support their buds, and rest can go to Hell. BUT, TRUMP AND USA IS THE ENEMY.

GOOD THING JT LEGALIZED GRASS AND DRUGS appears most voters. Certainly Ont and Quebec, must be major consumers of both. Not a brain cell left.

So, Canada as a NATION is toast and don’t blame the Yanks or others, we deserve what we elect and get. LORD help us, we are toast as a NATION.

    Just saying.

    1. I think I’d enjoy watching the Iroquois mete out justice to Trudeau, Carney, Chretien, and the gang.
