Henry Ford created the assembly line so that he could produce automobiles faster and cheaper … hence expanding the marketplace into virtually EVERY socioeconomic class. Henry Ford … like nearly every other American industrialist BUILT America’s middle class.

        However, 50 years of globalism has all but killed off our middle class … that huge part of our population in the center of the bell curve has been displaced by Chinese slave laborers, illegal immigrants, and cheap(er) workers in Mexico and Canada. Losing our middle class will destroy America. It’s already made it shamefully unsafe. It won’t be long that marauding gangs of unemployed/underemployed Americans attack the elite enclaves to TAKE what they can’t earn from honest labor.

        Yeah, Trump is helping to correct that fatal error.

        1. Funny, you don’t seem to recall what actually happened when the first free trade deal was brought in during the 1980s, and subsequently NAFTA and USMCA. Canada, not the US, was the high-wage jurisdiction that lost factories and jobs to the US. The number of auto assembly lines that shifted to right to work states in the south utterly gutted our auto industry, to the point where its is a mere shadow of its former self. Most Canadian manufacturing jobs went south, first to the US, then to Mexico. If anyone has been the victim, it’s been Canada. As for America losing jobs to Mexico and China, I agree with you. But you certainly haven’t lost them to Canada. We lost them to you, and Mexico.

          And I wrote a column recently about that $110,000 truck.
          As for Trump Derangement Syndrome – he’s said more than 20 times in the last three months he wants to take over Canada, and several times he’s said he’ll use economic force to do so. That’s not derangement, that’s facts. There are plenty of Canadians who absolutely do not want to be taken over – despite a few very vocal people you’ll find here.

            But Brian. You can’t be so naive as to believe that Carbon Tax Carney is going to eliminate the carbon tax, because he wants to eliminate at at the consumer level.
            You have to know that he plans to hide the carbon tax (at the producer level), so that consumers will still be paying for it, but won’t know how much they’re paying for it.
            Carney and Trudeau both have the same policies. It’s just that Carney may be a little smarter as to how to implement those policies.

It’s just that after reading your article, I felt that you were reporting it in the context that it was actual fact, not just something Carnage had said. Needless to say, it was an eye-opener. I am glad you took the time to set the record straight.

            This is why I feel that I have to remind everyone to please keep their posts civil, because many times the written word doesn’t convey the true intention of what the author is really saying, so to those of us (and I am including myself) who choose to respond negatively, know that you may be overreacting, which is why I try to temper my comments (with one obviously notable exception, of course).

          Need I remind you that Obama’s Federal Govt.. bailout/buyout of General Motors “Too Big to Fail” was really a means to fund the gold-plated UAW pensions and wages. Yeah, you can BET on the fact that the major (remaining) Auto manufacturers know EXACTLY why they build products in Mexico and Canada … because it’s CHEAPER! They aren’t fools. It’s not because Canadians are really swell people (which many of you are).

          1. The Canadian Auto Workers, now known as Unifor, is one of the most powerful unions in this country. It is the most powerful, by far. It is just as fearsome, if not moreso, because it extends well beyond the autoworkers. And it’s one of the most militant.
            The reason in your context Canadian autoworkers cost less is because companies in Canada aren’t expected to pay for the health care of their workers. Our socialized medicare takes care of most of the expense for all Canadians, including auto workers. Sure, they have health benefits like dental, ambulance, better room in the hospital sort of thing. But that’s a small thing compared to the health premiums paid by US companies, not just in auto, but everything. Yes, we pay much higher taxes as a result. But that’s what’s really going on. If they US adopted universal medicare, all your taxes go up, but your companies have that burden removed from them.

  7. I believe he stated this about a month ago, and suggested programs in place of a carbon tax. As I recall he wanted to provide “incentives” for people to use ecologically favorable appliances, EV’s, and other things.

    IOW, we’ll get rid of the “in your face” carbon tax, and use government money from your other taxes to pay for subsidies. Less messy if you don’t understand how it works. Essentially, that means one of two paths.
    1. We will take those federal funds out of other programs and reduce the amount of money appropriated to such (Psssst, governments NEVER do this)
    2. We will increase the taxes you pay at present to accommodate these new incentives. (governments ALWAYS do this)

    1. I think it unlikely they’ll try to have a senator as prime minister, it would be too irregular for more than a short interim. If they don’t want a general election right away they’ll pick a a constituency they believe they can rely on for a by-election and appoint its current MP to the senate to make way for Marx Carnage. (So, not likely PM Castreau will appoint his successor to the Senate, rather his successor will appoint Castreau to the Senate.)

Crooked Carbon Tax Carnage might try doing a by-election rather than risk losing an early general election even though it would likely be a minority for CPC. And since it is the largest part of the 1. Canadian economy 2. Saskatchewan economy. 3. Alberta economy, as measured by GDP, certainly politics affects it a great deal. Like when prime ministers kill pipelines.

    Our governments and the press continue to mislead the public by measuring ‘success’ in terms of tonnes of CO2, rather than degrees.
    If Canada’s emissions were to go to zero, global warming would be deferred by 1°C in 4055 years. Here’s the math:
    According to the IPCC’s latest comprehensive report: “For every 1000 GtCO2 emitted by human activity, global surface temperature rises by 0.45°C (best estimate, with a likely range from 0.27°C to 0.63°C).”
    Translated to more commonly used metrics, this is a very broad “likely” range of 0.00000027°C to 0.00000063°C temperature impact per megatonne (Mt) CO₂ emitted. The science is not settled. Canada’s total emissions in 2022 were 548 Mt. This means that we warmed the globe by 0.000148°C to 0.000345°C, or 1°C per 2897 to 6759 years.
    IPCC’s “best estimate” (0.00000045°C) gives Canada’s impact at 0.000247°C or 1°C in 4055 years.
    Using identical logic, Canada’s widely heralded and expensive plan to reduce emissions by 90 megatonnes would have deferred global warming by one degree in 24,691 years! Whopee shit!

  27. I was hoping we’d see Pierre Poilievre sooner rather than later. He and Trump could probably talk turkey pretty quickly and get things moving forward. It’s not as if the Canucks will hate Americans any less than they did long before Trump called Zoolander “governor”, but it might turn down the burners in the meantime. If this guy, Carney, is running on an anti-Trump stump, he’ll prolong the pain and brag about it.

  28. I notice the media says Marx Carney is killing the “consumer” Carbon Tax but not saying he’s raising it elsewhere thus making it invisible. The media ends the story with he axing the tax. Nothing about extending it to industry.
    They are trying to neuter the CPC “Axe The Tax” line.
