Car Crash Carney

The French language debate between the Liberal leadership candidates last night served to make clear two things: Mark Carney is a drowning accident in progress, and his opponents aren’t there to challenge him in any substantive way but rather to act as sock puppets providing cover for his blunders. Good luck with that.

Carney was asked in English if his command of French is not strong enough to be the Liberal leader.

Carney started answering in French before switching to English.

“You asked me in English, I’ll answer in English. I said that we all were in agreement against Hamas — at least the intention. Ah, no, je suis, I look forward, if I am selected as Liberal leader, I look forward to having a debate avec Yves Françcois Blanchet et Pierre Poilievre,” Carney said, switching to French, before continuing, “I’m sorry, I’ll answer in English. I look forward to having a debate with them, in French.”

  1. Question for Carney, and he can answer in English no pb: if everything-evil in this world (WEF, China, global-socialist elite+msmedia, Librano$+NDP) is helping him and still shoots self in the foot, how he even thinks he can take on Trump team?

    1. “Carney is the walking disaster that would finish what Justin started.”

I’m still shocked that he is actually running for the Liberal leadership. I really did think he was smarter than that.

      Igantieff 2.0, or Dion 2.0?

      1. Fred

Look up Diana Fox Carney. She’s a bigger climate nut that Trudeau.

Also Mark Carney was appointed as a United Nations Special Envoy for Climate Action and Finance by Antonio Guterres in 2019. He resigned in 2025. So his goals are to destroy the oil and gas industry in Canada.

He’s made multi millions, so is rich enough to be a climate socialist.

        That’s why he’s running.

        1. “Fred

Look up Diana Fox Carney. She’s a bigger climate nut that Trudeau. ”

I just did, thanks. I regret it already.

So she and her husband really believe in this, then? Most of the others who push the ‘climate crisis’ so hard pretend believe but really are just in it for the money. God help us if he gets elected.

          1. Fred, I agree with you; it’s a mystery as to why Carney would want this. Just give this man rope; he will certainly hang himself.

And yes, Fox Carney is simply ridiculous. She claims “expertise” in climate change issues based on degrees in agricultural economics and international relations plus a few consulting jobs. The important one is friendship with the dismal Gerry Butts.

Naturally she is famous only for her affiliation with the Eurasia Group.

      2. He will soon be wishing that he kept his directorships and never bothered to come back.

He lied to us about inflation, and did the same in Britain. Neither country wants to have yet another green, global elitist trying to tell others how to spend the few dollars we have left after tax.

  2. Liberals are shooting themselves in the foot with Carney. Let the blunders continue until a real election is called. Bring our MPs back to drown the government this spring.

      1. New Nanos poll today has CPC leading by just four points. 37-33. They were leading by something like twenty points eight weeks ago.

Now, there’s a normal “new leader effect” on polls but this seems to be stretching beyond that. This is that, combined with the virulent anti-Trump feelings in Canada that are being projected onto the Conservatives. And the Conservatives have no way to escape it because they’re stuck in a “When did you stop beating your wife?!” trap. They speak out in even mild support for some of what Trump’s talking about, and they’re beating the wife. They speak out in opposition to Trump and they’re just lying about not beating the wife.

The most worrisome part of the Nanos poll is the “Would you consider voting for X” question. More respondents said they were open to voting LPC, than were open to voting CPC. That puts the LPC ceiling higher.

I fear this country is genuinely stupid and coddled enough to vote Carney in with a minority, backed mostly by hatred of Trump and an undefinable “ick” factor about Conservatives. No rational thought required. Most Canadians are either incapable of it or actively reject it. They vote on feelings, and Liberals give them more fuzzy-wuzzies than Conservatives. Always have, always will.

          1. Exactly so, Art. Polls are intended to show the results desired by the one paying for them. The only polls which actually matter are the numbers of Liberals fleeing from re-election and the one on voting day.

        1. It’s not a “new” poll, it’s a rolling average:

“Nanos conducted an RDD dual frame (land- and cell- lines) random telephone survey of 1,026 Canadians, 18 years of age or older. Four week rolling average (250 per week) ending February 21st, 2025. The margin of error for this survey is ±3.1 percentage points, 19 times out of 20”

Now RDD Dual frame does recruiting for surveys, and it’s not explained how they recruit, and it’s a very small sample size.

        1. Many of us will go blue in the face explaining to the un-media literate that these “polls” are almost invariably tendentious bought-and-paid-for Liberal Party psych-ops designed to (1) persuade the disenchanted “Liberal faithful” – a great many of whom are complete sheep – that it’s once again “acceptable” to vote Liberal (called a “Permission Structure”); and (2) to discourage/demoralize/”wet-blanket” anyone who’s inclined to vote Conservative by presenting – yet again! – “evidence” (snicker) of the Inevitable Liberal Victory aka old the “Resistance is Futile” psych-op

All you sad sacks bemoaning these “poll results” on Conservative blogs – see the above whining, hand-wringing and panty-twisting for examples – are probably bots and if you are not, you’re merely the gullible dupes of the above-mentioned Liberal party psych ops.

BTW: also sad that not being fluent in what internationally is a marginal language, is an apparent disqualification for leading a major Anglosphere nation. But there you have it.

          1. Were they psyops almost all of last year when the Conservatives were leading by 10, 15, 20% Or do they only become psyops when Liberals start rising?

There’s gullible dupes, and then there’s ostriches sticking heads in the sand.

“Ordinary” Canadians, when asked what American party they’d prefer, split something like 75-25 Democrat. Add Trump and the split probably goes 85-15. Add MSM pushing anti-Trump narratives 24/7 and stir. Perfect recipe for a run back to the safety of big daddy Liberal.

Now, there’s some truth in saying that a substantial subset of voters like the idea of Carney more than they may like the actual Carney. Right now he’s a blank slate and voters can pretend he’ll make their problems go away. When he actually starts facing voters those wishful notions will run up against Carney as a real potential PM and at least some of those notions will get popped like balloons. The CPC may yet still win a 10+ point victory and a majority. We shall see.

          2. Corollary: these tendentious bought-and-paid-for Liberal Party polls/psych-ops are also designed to frighten the “Conservative” party establishment and convince them – once again – to do, as Maggie Thatcher would call it, a ‘U-turn’ and to abandon any semblance of actual conservatism in their platform and their campaigning and to become Good Laurentian Liberals. In the past, the Conservative party has been way too deferential to established authority and opinion and way too in the thrall of political consultants, ‘wise men’, pollsters, pundits, elder statesmen, party hacks, assorted mouth-breathers and other nervous-nellies peddling shopworn conventional wisdom. These people, mostly Ottawa insiders and the kind of who live and breathe these kinds of polls (and probably enjoys drinks with their Liberal ‘rivals’ at the Rideau Club, or the bar at the Ottawa Hy’s) know virtually NOTHING outside of their little bubble.

            I.M, where do you work?

          3. Not that it’s any of your business, but I’m private sector, technically oriented field, and always have been. I’ve advocated for the LPC to be burned to ash for 20 years. I too think the Conservatives are prone to “go wobbly” and hate them when they do just that.

I’m pessimistic about the future of this country because I don’t think the majority of people in this country value freedom, or opportunity, or making their own choices, or daring to make their own way. They want big daddy government to hold their hands and take care of them from cradle to grave, they don’t want to be like those brash gun-totin’ rednecks to the south, they want to stay in their safe cocoon and not face hard choices. The LPC knows all of this and plays into it. They wrap themselves in the flag and tell voters what they want to hear. More spending! Taxes on the rich! Free healthcare! That’s what Canada’s all about!

In the past 35 years this country has voted for a majority Conservative government once. ONCE. And that government ended up doing spit all to move the needle in any meaningful sense; it got us a decade of Trudeau on the flipside.

I’m not convinced this country even can be saved. Deep down it seems to want to euthanize itself. Go to sleep forever and not worry about anything any more. Good thing the Liberals legalized MAID I suppose.

      2. Right you are, Wally. They elected Justin 3 times. I could maybe understand them voting for him the first time, but for the next two, they should have been able to see the disaster that he is.

I’ve been surprised by election results before, more than once. But I would not be surprised to see the Liberals under Carney win.

  3. I prefer Maximum Carnage since that is what will happen if this greentard ever gets into power under the Liberal banner.

  4. The CBC made it perfectly clear that Carney did what he needed to do. Which is remain upright through March 9th. This was never a contest, it is a coronation. Et tu, Kamala?

  5. Chrystia did her Kamala best fantasy about a 4 year old afraid of Trump.
And no reaction to Carney ‘supporting’ Hamas???
How does legacy media spin any of this???
Only good thing from that debate was enough fodder for CPC to use against them.
    We can only hope…

  6. Looks like the fix might be in. The ‘candidates’ have been instructed to be civil. The leader has been selected and everyone will be looked after in due course. No rancor or antagonism and challenges must be passive. We’re all one big family here.

Somebody said freeland spoke in a normal voice? No screechy preachy. Who knew she had it in her?

    1. Btw, at CTV News last night, connection dropped exactly when the reporter was asked about Carney’s mishap. They’ve reconnected but only after a minute-or-two, to allow all watching squirrels to be interested in something else.

  7. Would these damn Liberals just get on with it?
They are holding Canada hostage as they perform their little theatre of appointing/choosing a new leader.
We are forced to wait as Trump marches on and Canada remains rudderless.
The Liberals all being very proud of this, that they hold Party Business as more important than national affairs?
    A feature not a bug.
    Ask any Liberal.
Carny carnage is my pick too.
    A boon to Western Separation.
    Come on,you useless Eastern Parasites..
    Do it.
The very day Eastern Can Ahh Duh sweeps that creep to power,Alberta must throw the RCMP out.
    State of Emergency!

    1. Carney is the only one that’s a boon to western separation?
I think you underestimate the other candidates
There isn’t anyone in the liberal party that would care about the fate of the western provinces right up to the second they realize who pays.

    2. Western separation? Like most abused spouses, the West will only, if ever, leave on a gurney; not on its own feet.

  8. God help us ( Canadians ) should that wolf in sheep’s clothing ever get elected . If you thought Trudope was a disaster this guy will most certainly finish us off . All I have to add is Western Canada start looking at the future without us eastern bastards in your way .

  9. Carney has said that he will use the Emergency Act. Since it only affects Canadians what will he do.
I think he will punish those who disagree with him and put controls on capital movements so we can not protect our investments from his disasters to come.
    Thoughts anyone ?

    1. 1,000% this. Should he become PM after an election and your capital isn’t out, it won’t get out. Then the banks will collapse, issuing junk stock to replace your hard earned money, with that we’ll be done, defaulted and an American protectorate if we’re lucky.

  10. I.M. pretty much summed it up, Canadians prefer to be subjects rather than sovereign citizens.

  11. Baylis speaks decent Quebecois French with a scorching Quebec accent. Gould sounds very anglo but seems comfortable. Freeland speaks in French as she does in English: like a Kindergarten teacher. Carney is the worst of the four. He gets almost all the genders wrong and is very hesitant.
