    his people had everything in place to do this ‘2 days’ thing ages ago.
    documents ready to sign, administrators contacted, told to get ready.
    this is so so so gratifying and such a relief and lm not even American.

  3. Yep, the treatment of states hit hard by Hurricane Helene and floods plus the fire in Lahaina was a dereliction of duty. The social contract is that taxes are paid to government and certain services are provided. Federally it’s things like national defense, crime and justice, borders, stable banks and currency, balanced budgets. There’s also an expectation that during a emergency government (national, state and local) will provide adequate assistance. This should be basic governance 101 in both America and Canada.

    Instead of core functions of government being provided effectively and efficiently, taxpayers see their money going to foreign aid, corporate welfare, illegal immigration, politician’s pockets, DEI and other non-core, money wasting projects. These are bad choices politicians make either through incompetence or malice. Leaders like Trump and Argentina’s Javier Milei show the difference between governments that take their responsibility to citizens seriously and those who don’t.

  5. Trump has done more in his first few days in office than Biden did in the past 4 years.

    I disagree with his proposed draconian tariffs with Canada, and probably Mexico too, as the US entered free trade agreements with fervour. Now, it does not suit them, but heavy action will upset all North American countries, with integrated economies, and others around the world.

    I agree with his trend, though, as we should make more of our own stuff, not off-shoring everything that we can ably produce ourselves. Quality has suffered recently, transportation costs have increased dramatically and corporations and consumers too have benefited, at a huge cost. Too many jobs were lost.

    1. All Trump wants is Canada to stop imoorti.g Chinese drugs to ship down south and for Mexico to stop cartel narcotics smuggling which is government sponsored like here. The fact that Canada is talking about retaliation instead of shutting down our government sponsored drug smuggling operation tells you everything.

  6. I live in western NC. We were spared, but our fellow Tarheels were devasted by the hurricane. This woman is 100% correct. We hear firsthand accounts constantly about how desperate these survivors are. On top of that, Buncombe County is holding firm on collecting the property tax from people who may have nothing left but rocks. Entire homes were leveled. All the dirt was washed away from people’s land, leaving nothing but rocks, yet the county wants their money. Asheville voted to pay reparations a couple of years back. Governments like that are traitors to their constituents.
