“I am a Canadian, a free Canadian.”

From Diefenbaker to the post-national state where free speech went to die.

Today the @CDNConstFound is in court intervening in a judicial review of a Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario decision that saw a small-town mayor personally fined for voting against a request to proclaim June as Pride Month. The case is Borderland Pride v Emo

Related. ‘If you feel discomfort, go to the front counter, we can reimburse you, and you can go swim somewhere else.’” (h/t MW)

    1. Well, Dief was tragically misquoted. He actually said, “I am a freak Canadian”, and the stenographers mistook him.

  1. I would like to see a local government council pass a resolution either disavowing any and all declarations as I was once involved in, or declaring that every month of every year whomever wrote down on a public sign-up sheet whatever group they wished is now declared as such with no idea being beyond inclusion as council would no longer be involved.

  2. Human rights tribunals are as tied to (classically) liberal society as Hitler’s judges were to justice.

    1. That is absolutely correct. These “tribunals” are Canada’s version of the Volksgerichtshof.

  3. You poor dears forgit we have a cuckservative provincial govt in OntarIowe, kinda like Jason kenny’s newfburta’s cuckservatives, butt you yapping chihuahuas will only beg for another treat!

    1. GYM, all bark no bite, because every brown man from Newfoundland to BC loves your gummy hummers.

You did learn one thing from your mom.

  4. I have a full sized 4 colour (or color) copy of the Bill of Rights signed by John Diefenbaker “All the best Paul, your friend John” hanging in my office. This was signed in early August 1979 just before he died on August 16, 1979.

Back in those days I worked on the Hill as an EA. I spent many hours in his office telling me political war stories about the liberals, dippers and the USA. The Avero Arrow story was fascinating.

  5. Related – well, it could be worse … Canada’s Ladyboys could be going bottomless at public pools. However their loose sphincters would pose a critical public health problem.

  6. The average Canadian’s concern about freedom is rather narrow. About the same as a child with access to a full cookie jar.

  7. If this is an elected official, who has authority to fire them? And how can anyone possibly have authority to override local voters?

  8. Reminds me of the late Kathy Shaidle’s oft-used aphorism:

“Dear gays: this is why people hate you.”

    1. ye gawds ye gawds ye gawds. l swear, at THIS point the ONLY effective countermeasure *I* can see is to ‘literally and figuratively’ THROW IN THE TOWEL, and *all real women e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e REFUSE to compete any time a tranny shows up*.
get real ladies, you’re not going to win on the playing field anyway, so all of you go back in the change room street clothes on a find a seat in the bleachers next to your supportive family.
      every
      time
      everywhere
      every
      sport.
until the bloody MESSAGE gets thru. let the trannies beat each OTHER up. make a bloody FARCE of the entire exercise. jam a dildo down your pants and trot out like some bizarre ‘quasi’ tranny.
but ENOUGH ‘tolerance’. just give up and walk away. that generation of 39-45 had the rotten luck of being the one gunned down shot out of the sky and blown to bits.
chalk it up to *their* rotten luck but did we have to do THAT again on a world scale? hmmm?

  9. l cant help but bloody WONDER where the blazes these unelected tribunals get the friggin POWER to garnishee chequing acct funds? WHAT compels the *bank* to dip into an account and make the transfer? this is exceedingly ‘troubling’.

  10. When the retribution Party rises to power…
Human Rights Tribunal officials will get the same treatment as the Guards from the Death camps.
“We were just following orders” will be their same defence.

Human Right Tribunals and all the Human Rights Laws of Canada are a legal fraud.
Phoney “Rights”, Kangaroo Courts, used to strip us of our legal rights.
Stripping us of the hard won rights and freedoms of Freemen.

When the Supreme Court ruled;”Truth is NOT a defence when facing a Human Rights Tribunal”..
They stripped these tribunals of all legitimacy.
Any decent participants should have resigned..
The clowns still participating in these abusive circuses are exactly what you think they are.

  11. Time to force these queens back into the closet. Life was so much easier 50 years ago.
