47: NIH Under Lockdown

Birthing persons and trans-kids hardest hit.

Confusion and anxiety is rippling through the US health-research community this week following Donald Trump taking office as the 47th US president. His administration has abruptly cancelled research-grant reviews, travel and trainings for scientists inside and outside the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the world’s largest public biomedical funder. Adding to the worry: the Trump team appears to have deleted entire webpages about diversity programmes and diversity-related grants from the agency’s site.

The cancelling of meetings and travel is part of a pause in external communications issued on 21 January by the NIH’s parent organization, the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Researchers who spoke to Nature say that although a short, daylong pause in communications at US agencies has occurred in the past when new administrations have started, to reorient strategy, the reach and length of the Trump team’s — it is set to last until at least 1 February — is unprecedented. Without advisory-committee meetings, the NIH cannot issue research grants, temporarily freezing 80% of the agency’s US$47-billion budget that funds research across the country and beyond.

  1. The freakout by the woke Left implies that this is a permanent state of affairs.

Apparently, the NIH cannot possibly survive a twelve-day (or thereabouts) pause in their administrivial Tourette’s. As for the rest of the U.S., it’s unlikely anyone will notice anything.

God, it’s only five days into the new admin and the Left’s already moved into eternal-batshit-crazy messaging. Imagine another four years of this nonsense.

    1. Here’s just one insane taxpayer funded study from Kate’s “birthing persons” google link:

“ Brain Sex in Transgender Women Is Shifted towards Gender Identity “

  2. What dark fate awaits us if the federal government ceases spending $47 billion a year supporting Big Pharma? Weight loss drug use is exploding and the medical establishment doesn’t yet even understand the side effects of the use of this category of drugs. Well, except for the kidney damage, bowel obstruction, sleep disruption and occasional stomach paralysis.

  3. allow me to parrot what lve heard in the past to justify all manner of policies, changes, actions, laws: “if it saves just one child it will be worth it”
    difference THIS TIME its true.
sorry sons of bitches putting their butchery in place, maybe they figured kamalalala was a shoe in no need for contingency plans for a 2nd Trump term.
have at ‘er Donald this is BOTH entertaining and a great relief.

  4. How will we ever know if coffee is bad for us or good for us this week?

A coffee study has always been a guaranteed grant for the past 50 years. Now? All bets are off.

I’m barely half joking. I used to go out for lunch every day just to get away and clear my head. I’d listen to the noon, 10-minute traffic/weather/political indoctrination break and without fail, before a month passed there would be a blip about “A recent study has shown that coffee may be good/bad for you.”

On the off weeks, it would be about a “recent study which showed drinking wine/beer/cocktails might be good/bad for you.”

Next time you are bored, search on “coffee study” and you’ll get enough links to read for a long, long, long time.

    1. Trust the police… not.

When I first started reading the article, I was thinking that defense attorneys paid her off to make sure she found “the DVA did NOT match” their client’s DNA.

But then at the end of the article, it said that she was being held on $50,000 cash bail. Say what?! She can’t come up with $50 large? Either she blew the payoffs on shoes and vacations, or she wasn’t crooked. Or maybe she fudged the data to make sure there was a conviction even if the suspect was innocent. Gotta make the DA’s conviction rate look good.

So now I’m not sure why she fudged the data. Lazy? Incompetent?

  5. “ Will you feel responsible if something happens to him? – “No.” “

And if anyone objects, ask them about Trump’s skeleton July 13 Secret Service DEI crew and their intentional disinterest in the roofs surrounding Trump’s podium (let’s be honest – the leadership of the SS wanted him dead).

  6. “ the agency’s US$47-billion budget “

Good grief. Like the “Green New Deal”, just another money laundering operation.

    1. scenario:
despite the pardon, fauci gets a much deserved time in the courtrooms.
just before verdict, the pardon mysteriously disappears on a technicality.
      what follows?

      1. FauXi is not off the hook. Anyone who was damaged by the clot shots or lost family to the shots can file a civil suit seeking compensation for damages in their State under their State’s laws. Presidential pardons are only good for Federal offenses.

Can you imagine defending against a million lawsuits filed in 50 States?

Also, a State’s Attorney General can bring criminal charges if FauXi has violated any of their State’s laws.

  7. Who ever would have thought that a lying Jesuit (though I repeat myself) like Fauci would turn out to be a lying Jesuit?

May that POS face execution before he dies of natural causes.

  8. Obama has officially been out of office 8 years. Has his security detail been reduced to the numbers that Trumps was at 4 years out of office?
