On Facebook, there’s a group dedicated to Canadians living in America. One woman posted the following: “Feeling homesick amd sick at heart at what is happening in this country. This is my home and my life now but I find myself longing for more kindness and warmth and manners. Just needed to vent in a group I knew would understand.
About 70% of the respondents agreed with her. But not all. One fellow posted a rant against her narrative, stating that Woke has destroyed everything. I 100% agree. Then one woman asked for a definition of “Woke” and why it’s so bad. Here’s the comment I left for her:
Let me take a stab at it for you: “Woke” means judging people, not by their character but by what they look like, what their sexuality is, and what religion they belong to. Then, based on those attributes, most of which a person can’t change by the way, a judgement is made about them by the woke person This is the exact opposite of what I grew up with in Vancouver in the 1960’s & 70’s. We had kids of all ethnicities, skin colours, and religions, and NO ONE CARED.
The Vancouver of my youth is the reality I want to return to. By the way, this mirrors what Martin Luther King Jr. said: “I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”
Woke culture, exemplified by Trudeau, has pretty much destroyed the fabric of Canadian culture. It has converted our once great homeland from a High Trust Society to a Low Trust one nowadays.
I believe that a big reason why Kamala Harris lost is because she was advocating for more Wokeism and the majority of Americans are SICK OF IT.

Within minutes, the same woman responded, saying that this definition is completely wrong. She then went on a rant, throwing out terms like “privilege”, “prejudice”, and “racism”. She also stated that the reason why Kamala lost was obvious: It’s because America is a racist and misogynist country.
Woke is a retreat into childish stupidity.
That’s a large part of it, but it’s also a defensive mechanism for those who dramatically overestimate their place in society. “I should be rich and important (or “Society isn’t set up the way I think it should be”) but because that hasn’t happened there must be evil systemic forces working against my brilliance.”
In other words, a cop out for the marginally or fully incompetent.
I’ll paraphrase a quote I believe was by Thomas Sowell and related to current society but fits “woke” perfectly.
Woke is wanting to punish certain groups of people for things they didn’t do and which happened hundreds of years ago, while not wanting to punish other groups of people for things they ARE actually doing, right now.
To be “woke” is to be committed to the single virtue of Totalitarianism which is an unthinking, uncritical, enthusiastic support for whatever the current truth is. Worrying about the particulars of woke narratives is pointless. The only important characteristic of wokism is blind obedience. Some people just want someone else to tell them what to think.
Woke people are morons and have been sold a bill of virtue.
They will refuse to acknowledge they are the racists they deplore; so they are to be avoided at all costs.
I have heard/read about people who hire and if they see pronouns, the resume is trashed. I mean disappeared so it cannot be resurrected.
Woke people are toxic in a work environment.

I was at the January 6th, 2021 Trump rally in DC, and there I discovered firsthand that his supporters actually DO judge people by their character. And surprisingly, that’s the only thing they judge them by. They truly don’t give a rat’s ass about what color someone’s skin is, how curly their hair is (or not) what color it’s dyed, how goofy or smart they look, how fat or skinny they are, what country they came from, how much money they make, what their sexuality is, or what religion they belong to. It was amazing! These were all people who have come to realize that the only thing that truly matters is the content of a person’s character; everything else is irrelevant.
But because UnMe has never taken the time to have a conversation with a Trump supporter, he doesn’t get it. He thinks they’re all judgmental assholes. And that’s sad, but somehow it makes perfect sense.
