Sure Axeworthy , Goodale and a few others brought largesse to their constituents but these were just to provide optics and samples for westerners to follow giving illusions of inclusion in CON-federation.
Now more than ever Alberta should take up the “hammer” that Preston didn’t want to handle and take control our their direction and destiny.

If it was believed prudent for the western world to shake off their colonial status and bravely establish their independence why should it not be considered wise to once again break things apart.
Smaller government closer to the people is a good thing.
There is nothing that western Canada gets from central Canada that we could not obtain faster and cheaper anywhere else.
In fact if we had struggled out of this snare in the 80’s instead of sucking up to our overlords western Canada today would/could have a currency with tremendous buying power.
We would be freer and have a much better standard of living.

Advocating for Triple E Senate has done more damage to the Conservatives than just about anything else. Every time they appointed a Senator they received criticism from the Liberals and the press. The moron Harper left something like 20 vacant seats for Trudeau because he didn’t want the criticism. That ship has sailed.
Or just be done with it and get rid of the federal government entirely. It’s a huge expense to everyone and achieves nothing.

Ok, I hear what you’re saying and largely agree. However, PP has spoken to and about the west, specifically about getting the oil and gas industry back up to speed and, specifically, building the Keystone pipeline.
The Turd admin has run up continuous record debts, that require elevated interest payments. More oil and gas revenue will be required, unfortunately it won’t go to helping the “health” systems that are also distressed thanks to unions and BigGov looking after itself.
The damage the Turd Adam has done will be felt for decades, the HELLth system will take a decade to turn around, longer in socialist BC and Mannytobastan

The Reform movement should have started provincial parties in only the western provinces with one objective. Turn Kannada into a republic (A) or independence (B)! That was the “hammer”.
The fact that only premiers sit around the constitutional table is why this is the only path to fairness.
Power has never been known to voluntarily give itself up. It has to be wrestled away.
Very quickly the west would understand our predicament when it is understood that Ontario and or Quebec stand in the way of meaningful constitutional change. The amending formula demands their approval…which would cost them. So they will refuse.
Are there any western men or women in leadership that dare to stand and lead the fight. Or are they too risk adverse to take a stand?
Many of the wests problems are caused by rules regulations and guardrails that remove choices for provincial governments. Time to shake the feds off our backs so we can stand up and reach our destiny.
The West can start by invoking the Notwithstanding Clause at every opportunity. And then work out from there. It’s time for everyone to understand that in a Confederation, the feds are NOT the “senior” government. Justin’s Maoist old man (?) Pierre railed against the feds being “head waiter to the provinces.” Yet in a Confederation, that is exactly the role the federal government takes. Centralization of power is what built the former Soviet Union and also tore it down.

Many Lethbridge West residents apparently forgot in the recent Provincial by election that a vote for the NDP is a vote for Trudeau.
