Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Can any town beat Simcoe Ontario for the Christmas display?
Was a must see every year when I was young and visited relatives there.
I saw a photo this week of the Christmas market in Gdansk Poland and … I’m so deeply poisoned by what has taken hold in the former “first world” countries, my first thought was to send to my daughter who also thinks more like me of our Polish heritage, and how distant the terrors seem to be from current Poland.
I like some of the Italian mountain scenes too, a slightly more secure area as well.
Good to see again
A number of years ago I visited Rothenburg ob der Tauber (Germany) just before Christmas. It was surreal. Just an immaculate reflection of Christmas perfection. It was beautiful, and enhanced with wandering groups of carolers. It’s located in northern Bavaria and the entire town is done in medieval architecture.
The amusing thing is that while the Christmas Village is absolutely tasteful and wonderfully done, there is a museum that sits right in the center of town that is open for visitors during this celebration. It is called the Medieval Crime Museum (Mittelalterliches Kriminalmuseum). It sounds interesting, yes? Well, keep in mind that the theme is Medieval. And, punishments back then were, shall we say, creative. This museum has an unbelievable collection of the most heinous, atrocious and monstrous torture devices that you can possibly imagine. As you go through, the devices are right there in front of you and authentic with detailed explanations of how they were used. I’m not squeamish in the least, but some of these descriptions were horrendous.
Then you go outside once again, and you’re back in the Christmas wonderland. It was enough to make your head spin.
Wrocław Poland market…

I was in Wroclaw and area in September visiting family on my mother’s side. Of course that was before the Christmas market was set up.
The town square (rinek) is impressive.
