  2. Universities, and College of Physicians promote specialties, not family medicine. Start there. Limitation of seats, and fact that Canadian Doctors trained outside Canada can’t get a license in Canada are issues. As are desire of all Gov’s to supposedly control costs by limiting doctor billing codes.
    Admin at all levels, beuracry has no such limits. Many paper handlers, and actual providers are limited.
    Canada 2024, it’s about process, not the service.
    Have a look at Admin, and deprtments, pretty clear really.

  4. Same in US. Try to get into a doctor’s office without an extended wait. It turns out that the millions of migrants who poured illegally across the border had very few doctors, or even nurses, among them, and yet they all have a right to medical care, nonetheless.

    1. I never wait to see my doctor (and I can email or call him ad well, and I get responses the same day). He’s a direct-care doc. But my husband has no waits for his doctors, either, including a cardiologist and neurologist. It obviously depends on where you live in the U.S.

  6. If the waiting times have lengthened, How many Immigrants have been inserted into the Queue.

    With our influx of immigrants, the Health Care wait time has gone up, the Education system is overloaded,The housing shortage has increased and prices go up.

    Governments realize this and are paying attention to this but one area they do not talk about is the prison system. The existing prison system is designed to handle our existing population.

    No talk of increasing the prisons in Canada. Does anyone really believe that with the influx of thousands and thousands of immigrants that their numbers don’t include criminals. Thus criminals are released into the general population as there is no room for them at the inn.

    This is another indication that our governments govern with their head in the sand.

    I think that the Tariffs will be the least of our problems, When Trump starts cracking down on illegal immigrants just watch where most of them immigrate to. They don’t want to be returned to Venezuela, El Salvador, India, Etc…. They will come to Canada. So health care, Schools, housing and Jails will be under more pressure.

    1. It was Bob Rae in the early 1990s who started that cutback. But Hoskins is still spouting BS. Wait times for specialists have lengthened to about a year for all specialist appointments.

  10. All three major Parties in Ontario presided over and contributed to this cruel joke of a health care system by squandering mega billions on counterproductive horseshit.

    Blubber Douggie & Co. Is pissing away our billions on EV battery plants; Dildo McGuinty and Wynne the Witch pissed away billions on solar panels and windmills; Harris let things putrify; and Fartsucker Rae burned billions on “social investments”.

  12. Health system problem: demand > supply . Doctor supply only increases slowly (7+ years per doc). Solution: reduce demand, reverse migration.

  18. There is a company in Toronto offering all-you-can-eat basic medical services, aka family doctors, for something like $3000 a year. Which is a lot, but it does mean you don’t have to sit waiting in ER for 8 hours for basic things.

    This is how things are in fact going to go. Because the OHIP system is pretty much done like dinner.
