Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

"Smalldeadanimals doesn't speak for the people of Saskatchewan" - Former Sask Premier Lorne Calvert

Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle
"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
So you can buy the company for around $14.0 million U.S.
I mean they only have $1,170,000,000 in debt.
That’s called upside down.
To me that is a negative.
I called my broker to print off onto hard copy all my Corus shares. Cheaper than buying toilet paper.
BCE.TO to follow this same pattern shortly. Good riddance. Hopefully CBC follows this fate of the guillotine. The lies and propaganda are finally catching up to them. Sort of a Berlin Wall esque being metaphorically torn down.
Having the Ben Mulroney show on afternoon radios across Canada won’t save Corus.
Socialist CJOB in Winnipeg is just one of their embarrassing stations.
And Global TV? Another joke.
Maybe Elon Musk should buy Corus.
I’ve actually been listening to Ben in the afternoons now.
I like his opinions.
Too little, too late though.
PS The bond holders will be wiped out along with the shareholders and a private entity will scoop them up for fractions of a penny. I feel bad for the bond holders and the shareholders as the middle class get fleeced again. I learned a hard lesson in ever investing in Canadian companies with XM satellite radio where CBC robbed the shareholders and the Yellow Pages stock was destroyed. After dealing with the big five banks recently I am not sure whether they will survive despite the monopoly.
The banks will be just fine. People will always need financial services. But no one needs anything that Corus does. Canadian companies can be fine; you just have to sort out those which own infrastructure that will survive regardless of circumstances.
Trudeau isn’t sure what to do, subsidize it or tax it?
See Ronald Reagan for the answer.
I don’t get their financial statements.
$1.271 B in revenue
$530 M cost of sales
———————-
$741 M gross profit. That’s a healthy business.
Then -$1.015 B in “other income”. How can you have negative other income? Is that their debt? The debt holders wouldn’t be taking the bond and share holders for a squeeze out would they? No, not in fair trade Canada.
But this is not a “Deep Impact” story. Looks like a healthy business thrown to the wolves. Perhaps pension issues or future debt obligations.
Steve, their financials show $1.27 billion in gross revenue. But that comes at a cost of $772 million in NET loss.
Here’s their consolidated balance sheet.
https://assets.corusent.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/F24-Annual-Financials-and-MDA-vf.pdf
Moreover, their net loss is expected to increase by approximately 7% annually over the next three years. In short, this company is heading to zero at warp speed.
Assets exceed liabilities by over $300 million.
Only government has the idiocy to loan them more money.
I haven’t been listening to Canadian A.M. in quite some time. I’ll scan the airwaves and pick up independent U.S. stations that are not woke, but discuss and exchange ideas, in a friendly debate atmosphere. Corus, Global, CBC, et al are toxic.
Harder, Faster!
Glowbull is a travesty of what used to be BCTV. Or CKNW. Both have been far left propaganda mouthpieces for many, many years, that deserve the crash that’s coming. Yet, they double down on the garbage they spew, Covidiot paranoia, Pro-NDP Pro-Liberal agendas, Climey Changey, the ABCDEFG mafia, the Tranny promotion, the pro-hard drugs free government hand holding agendas are promoted stronger than ever.
What’s the definition of insanity? Corus has been clinging to life, barely, but they can’t keep up this business model too much longer, can they?
However, the end result isn’t likely to be dead air on the TV/Radio channels and frequencies, it will more likely be dropped stations, sold to other entities, investors stiffed by bankruptcy resettlements, etc. All the while, GlowBull will keep spewing their nonsensical, propagandized BS.
As for Global news, one would think it would have the brains to differentiate themselves away from the pro-Liberal garbage at CBC, CTV news. But no, Global has to toe the standard woke line.
Faster please!
Canadian radio?
In high school we used to listen to the legendary John Records Landecker on the once great WLS from Chicago.
Used to get WLS in Thunder Bay, after midnight…
That graph at the top doesn’t tell the whole horrific story. Go here https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/quote/CJR-B.TO/
and click on the “5Y” button.
“click on the “5Y” button”
or 10 year.
Did that before I even read the comments, they were at $24/share, a few times, now a slow trickle down to nothing..
CTV is next.
Canadian legacy media: nobody is watching, listening reading
Die Global, die.
