Most Canadian seniors on pension aren’t eligible for the newly announced $250 tax rebate from the federal government. And they’re not happy about it.
It is NOT a “rebate”. The money was not taken from taxpayers and now it’s being being “rebated” .It’s money being borrowed to buy votes. Unfortunately, many are easily duped.
Let me point out that it was only borrowed because the government had already taken all available disposable income. Why do societies become poor? Barring natural disasters, the government or other power, takes all the surplus grain … and then some. The secret to a prosperopus society is middle class savings and capital formation. Not possible with brigand governments.

Well, the first time they gave money to voters just before an election, it was “bait”. So, whenever they do it now, it counts as “re-bait”.
Most are probably like me. We worked, saved, invested and now are taxed so the liberals can give away the rest of the money they are stealing from us. I have never qualified for a break in my taxes from any damn canadian government. They sure as hell sucked enough out of me.

Meanwhile … in the USA … incoming Pres. Trump has promised to end Federal taxes on my SS checks. Yeah … that will make a significant difference in my life. Far more than a temporary $250 credit
Rather than rebates, I’d prefer they would just cut or eliminate taxes on capital gains. That would do the economy far more good than these half-measures.
Potential Liberal voters aren’t getting capital gains, so no one to bribe there.
Me, I’d prefer it if the Government stopped pissing our money away up against walls, or elsewhere.
NOT Receiving $ 250 bucks is not going to break this Boomer.

Yup, as mentioned, the $250 rebate is just a vote buy. Some Dickbrained cabinet minister claimed it was targeted. That’s some target, 18 million qualify.
