To go along with your Saturday morning coffee, here’s a post-election interview with Peter Thiel.
Side take: While I admire Weiss’s courage to quit the New York Times and embark out on her own, I must say that this interview illustrates why I don’t trust her. While she speaks well, I have the distinct sense that she is an elitist club member and judges people by their academic pedigree rather than their character or brainpower. I predict that before 2028, she will turn against Trump’s common sense agenda and fall back into the mindless Democrat comfort zone. I hope I’m wrong. Thoughts?

I’ve listened to a number of her podcasts and they are quite good. She’s a Democrat who left the reservation by necessity. I don’t expect all of the legions in her category to convert to Republicans. But she is definitely aware of the real value Trump offers to Republicans and is not clouded by TDS. She approaches her podcasts with a sense of trying to see both sides of an issue.
she and Peter Thiel may have led to this

I’ll check this out, but one thing for sure, I am a total idiot for not buying Palantir stock when I was considering doing so about a year ago. It was about $20 a share then, and now it’s at 65.

I don’t think PLTR is done. I think it is only getting started. PS don’t take my advice
The Joe Rogan interview when she slandered Tulsi Gabbard and Joe checked her hard, told me not to trust her. That interview alone should have ended her carreer.

But the bible pounders putting Tulsi through the virtue wringer as a purity test is OK?
And that was being done all over the net, including in here.
Self awareness is not strong on the right side of the aisle .
Who’s putting her through the wringer, GYM? Who exactly? How do you claim to know their religious faith?
And listen to you talking about self-awareness.
You don’t even realize that YOU’RE A BIGOT!!!
Not only are you a bigot, you’re a hypocrite!
I’m not sure what you are referring to GYM.
I really don’t know what GYM said, and he doesn’t know either.
A fanatic is someone who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject.
J, agreed, that interview effectively demonstrated what’s good about Rogan and what’s rotten about Weiss.
Tulsi has skeletons that she should answer for (Syria, Ukraine) , and she will at confirmation hearings. Everyone of us has changed our thinking on issues as we round out our personal philosophy (grow up if you will). When you hold yourself out for public office expect scrutiny.
What skeletons precisely are you referring to? Please do not quote Hillary Clinton or the ladies from The View.
She initially blamed the west for Putin advancing against Uk. Her trip to Syria and her subsequent comments need to be addressed.
Only because it’s true. Don’t know much about history do you.
She’s known as Russia’s girlfriend for a reason.
Former liberals like Ms. Weiss have their place in the conservative tent. For one thing, conservatives are poorly organized and still have a small (but growing) media. When she quit the NYT I quickly subscribed to her substack blog, mbut left since I found her too establishment.
Btw, I subscribe to two substack blogs: Sam Cooper and Terry Glavin. Both are not conservative in the sense like we’re used to, but both have done great spade work fighting against the media beast, fighting against Islamist/Sikh/China extremism in Canadian society.
I subscribe to Taibbi’s Racket News and Daily Wire, and Premium X (it’s $10.50Cdn a month). If we despise mainstream as much as we claim, we have an obligation to support the alternatives. Just pick one or two, but X is the easy one because of its power as an aggregator.
I do the same Kate. In this interview, Peter’s intelligence is just so far above Bari’s that I felt sorry for her, as much as I could actually feel sorry for her as a denizen of the Upper West side. I listened into the open period of her election night stream and it was so superficial i had to turn it off before my brain melted. Thiel comes across as a serious and smart person. The science dogmatic community explication was very unique and powerful.

The left is better at delivering the message to the left than us right wingers are, they speak the same language, we don’t!
That is so obvious, GYM, and do you know who it is that’s the outlier?
Do you?
Hint:
It’s someone who isn’t self aware, and clearly displays that lack of awareness on this thread.
“Thoughts?”
She goes along to get along. Right now she’s going along with the ~conservative side because the Wingnut side cancelled her.
She’s going to go with whoever offers the best compensation package, is what I think. I pay no attention to mercenaries.
Panty Boi
BULLSCHITT, there you go just making noise, so you can be heard!
And there it is…
GYM, not realizing he’s standing in front a mirror…
I need a new keyboard. That should have been “…in front OF a mirror…”
My keyboard is getting a little weary having to constantly deal with GYM’s histrionics.
Phantom…
I’ve been meaning to say this before I got distracted by you-know-who…
…but here’s the thing:
ANYONE in Trump’s alliance has the potential to return to the comfortable enclave of the democrat party, and that includes Trump himself. Remember that Trump was once a democrat.
The point is that there has been a realignment. The traditional left-vs-right paradigm has shifted. The demon-rats have shifted so far to the left, that even moderate liberals don’t like what they represent anymore.
My prediction is that as soon as the loony left gets tossed out like the trash that they are, the Overton window will shift back towards the center. That’s when you’ll see the alliance dissolve, but I’ve been wrong before.
The point is that anyone can “revert” back to where they came from. It’s just now, there’s a bigger threat facing the republic than the routine left.
Absolutely agree with the assessment – the cult members don’t seem able to free themselves completely. The detritus of the cult’s neural clutter is never cleared in some.
Absolutely BORING INTERVIEW! The interviewer chatted ad nauseum before the guest could speak. Then, he had nothing new to say.
She reminds me of a bunch of late Gen X and Millenial types who accept without question every single leftist idea up until about 2014, and then all of a sudden said WHOA! That’s really gone too far (usually over some genderwang overreach), and they have found themselves on the conservative team. I think it’s a fair question whether they decide to stay here or regress to where they came from.
Concur, and she is a coward. It takes courage to hold onto convictions when they are not popular, and grace not to rub it in their faces when you are proven right. She is short on both counts. I was mocked at my golf club, ostracized at work, although partnership has it’s benefits 🙂 and now so many are waking up and waiting for the “I told you so”, but I surprise myself by feeling no need to do so. Maybe I finally understand grace, it is courage adjacent.
Spot on.
Radical social experimentation/change is great and anybody who questions it is a nazi right up to this point HERE. Anything past this point HERE is completely crazy, and: Help, help everybody! My rights! My lived experience!
Once she’s re-ratted she’s going to be calling your aunt and her church knitting group extremists again.
This is Bari Weiss being interviewed, correct?
https://x.com/stillgray/status/1857742933086089625
It supports my earlier suspicions about her.
She left the NYT.
But not really.
So I cancelled my short-lived subscription a few months ago.
I saw a clip of Weiss on Joe Rogan from 6? years ago. She bashes Tulsi Gabbard, calling her an Assad toadie and when Rogan asks for specifics, she has to ask for the definition of toadie. Then she quickly moves to another line of attack: well did Tulsi apologize for defending conversion therapy? She’s smug and superficial, and her intellect vastly overblown. And she seemed more than a little envious of the much smarter, stronger, and prettier Tulsi.
