It’s Not Hypocrisy, It’s Hierarchy

Via Ed Driscoll;

Douglas Mackey was sentenced to jail for 9 months for posting such a meme, which was the equivalent of the old joke that we should vote early and vote often–a joke told by innumerable politicians and comics. But it was a joke made by a Republican, so it is out of bounds and must be punished.

Jimmy Kimmel just made a similar joke to millions, not hundreds, and the entire establishment will no doubt come to his defense. Nothing will happen, just as nothing happens when celebrities muse about shooting Donald Trump, chopping off his head, stabbing him, bombing the White House, or any other call to violence against “Nazi” Republicans.

    It would be nice to say this sort of thing is new, but its not.. Ride it out until a new bunch of nutcases take us in a different direction.. We call this progress..

  2. Ah; “Situational Ethics”.

    Probably much more widespread then the “other” popular indoor sport.

  3. “Vote early, vote often.” Heard first from presidential candidate Pat Paulsen on Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour in the 1960s. Apparently the origin of the phrase was over 100 years earlier.

  4. Love reading SDA; and by extension, the Babylon Bee.
    But in this case, that’s not what Doug Mackey was convicted and served 9 months for.

        1. Got it. If Republican, ridicule and parody is a high crime. Actual voting scams, ballot stuffing, by-passing legislative procedure … all good.

        2. I read it and remain convinced it was a case of political retribution by the loser of an election, aided and abetted by HER apparatchiks in The Deep State. The facts of the case don’t sound like lawbreaking to my ear. Some guy has 58,000 followers on Twitter … and some “expert” at MIT insists that makes him the 107th most influential person blogging about the 2016 election? And that he conspired with a larger group of anti-Clinton bloggers to influence the election and confuse the electorate? And that he showed “black people” in one of his cartoons? So … why did NONE of his so-called co-conspirators face prosecution? And the fact that 3,900 people actually dialed-up his fake text number doesn’t mean they weren’t just curious to see if the number worked. No one can say if they were actually attempting to VOTE by text.

          And of course … the FEDS brag that he was convicted by a “jury of his peers” … as if any Republican has any such thing in Brooklyn, NY?

          1. The DOJ link never provided any earth shattering support for your statement. So again, what was he actually convicted for? I am not even asking for links.

  5. Sounds reasonable.
    If you’re dumb enough to vote Democrat you’re likely to be misled on anything, including what day or what way to vote. If you’re voting Trump you’re smart enough to figure out what day to vote and likely have a sense of humor as well.

  6. From the comments …

    51 former Intelligence Officials have determined Kamala DID work at MacDonalds. They have also certified she grew up middle class.

  7. When the enf0rcement of a rule is done differently for one group over another, then its no longer a rule, its a weapon.
