Heh, I spent a couple of years working in Algeria. I had 1 of around 600 foreign work visa’s issued country wide at the time. I travelled nowhere outside of special security zones without Algerian military escort, usually at least 4 armed soldiers with automatic rifles & grenades in a convoy consisting of two military jeeps one front & one back.
Tourism was considered insanity.
