BBC- Thieves snatched his phone in London – it was in China a month later
He is just one victim of an estimated 78,000 “snatch thefts” in England and Wales in the year to March, a big increase on the previous 12 months.
The prosecution rate for this offence is very low – the police say they are targeting the criminals responsible but cannot “arrest their way out of the problem”. They also say manufacturers and tech firms have a bigger role to play.

Would be nice if a Winnie the Poo phone was available, doubt there would be any market for it over there….
A cell-phone attracted person took my cell phone and passport from my left shorts pocket two weeks ago in Barcelona. I reacted quickly and got it back from him right there. Never even felt him lift it. It’s an epidemic in Europe.
We should be able to buy the Mossad upgrade for our phones.. solve that problem right quick.
Or at least make you feel better after your phone was taken
Lol. There could be liability issues. Even if you could take the thief’s picture with the camera would be a nice feature.
That’s the Big Jim McBob & Billy Sol Hurok model.
I wonder what the stolen phone market is like for flip phones. Are they a prime target?
I have a flip phone, prepaid voice and text only, no data/internet, and it only works in the US and US territories. Paid $65 USD for it. The preview screen is broken.
I’d imagine if someone picked it from my pocket, in less than a minute I’d hear, “Excuse me sir, I believe you dropped your phone.” ;o)
if they picked a flip phone, they would probably just kick it into a corner. Rubbish is probably too much effort let alone return.
when I lost my iPhone, “definitely lost” not stolen. You could permanently lock it out to the point of needing store to gain acess. But good luck adding some sort of more lasting solution that would make breaking it into parts worthless. Even if you had click to start the battery on fire button, little johnnys mum would be complaining that hers sons phone burnt the building down.
A flip phone? It’s downright frivolous!
I believe that the British police are far too busy arresting people questioning the sanity of their immigration policies rather than preventing and solving crimes.
I expect the police in Canada are just as useful as the police in the UK
Are you still paying taxes to support gov’t infrastructure and “good governance”? The pensions of those who do minimal amounts of work for you to pay for this?
lol…
They might not be able to arrest their way out of the problem but I’d bet they can deport their way out of the problem.
Deportation usually involves an initial arrest. So, no. Once in the victim Western country, and especially if they’re criminals, the little darlings are there to stay…
I watched CBC’s MarketPlace which did a good investigation over the lack of action by government (Canadian) about car thefts, action such as getting proper anti-theft devices on cars sold in Canada. One reporter put the heat on one of Turdoo’s useless waffling cabinet ministers over the failures.
L – Western nations used to believe in “Thou shalt not steal. “ as a Natural Right, a
birthright of everyone. It was protected first by the sanction of society(moral code to respect that was integral from family and every institution, and shaming applied effectively on those
who violated it. Yes, their feelings were hurt. Social isolation and difficulty getting a decent
job helped to keep even the psychopaths had to limit themselves to a degree.
The Golden Rule “Do unto others as you would have them do to you.” was part of the culture.
Also, the hurt feelings part was justified as tough love! Being trusted meant a better life. We had a Trust Society.
The second sanction was the law, which included fines and possibly jail for repeat offenders
and serious crime like break and enter of someone’s home meant jail. Safe as houses was a
common saying. The third sanction included the Right and responsibility of the citizen to
apprehend criminals. In town and country thieves and robbers feared honest citizens.
Then all these principles of British Common-Law were abolished by Cult Marxists, who had
infiltrated the legal profession and politics. Common-Law countries need a Restoration
Project to survive. The window of opportunity is slowly closing, muscular Christianity was
moral strength and served British Common-law nations well for centuries.
To be continued…
Seems like Isreal may have a solution.
Data is the problem. You do everything through the phone so everything about you is available. Banking, purchases, health information, you give a thief enough info to ruin you. I have a phone that I talk to people with, no data no danger.
