Predatory Lawfare

As many SDA readers have wondered in the past, when is this place finally going to slide into the ocean?

As most of us are well aware, a lot of plastic waste gets refined back into useable petrochemicals. But that, apparently, is actually a bad thing.

California’s attorney general is suing ExxonMobil, alleging the oil giant engaged in a “decades-long campaign of deception” about the effectiveness of plastics recycling.

The 147-page suit alleges that nearly all of plastic waste processed by the company has been turned into fuel instead of recycled plastic.

  1. So I guess the left would rather litter the oceans with plastic than recycle it for fuel…not surprisingly, they are all batshit loony tunes.

Like recycling paper and cardboard, it’s too expensive to remake new usable plastic containers suitable for water and other consumables.

  2. There are some things California doesn’t need. When are oil companies going to wake up and help them eliminate fossil fuels?

  3. If I ran a company that did anything in the USA, I would treat the border of California like a ring of fire. Nothing of mine would ever be shipped there, nothing of mine would come from there.

Their government has gone insane, it isn’t worth it to try to comply with them no matter that California is bigger than Canada. A criminal gang focused on theft would be -better-.

    1. Oh! I agree! I would immediately STOP delivering anything oil and gas related. They want electric vehicles, they can have them! As well, no plastics (containers, house siding, kayaks, nylon backpacks, anoraks – NOTHING from oil and gas).

  4. There is a sort of triangular symbol on the bottom of all plastic. The ones marked 1 and 2 can be recycled, the others cannot. It is designed to look like the official government recycling symbol, with just enough difference to not be legally actionable.

Turning it into fuel is recycling.

The government mandates the recycling, so, knowing the above, they should sue themselves.

  5. So we can sue people who lie about environmental crap? What a target rich environment.

  6. So taking plastic (which has very low value), and converting it into higher value liquid hydrocarbons and lubricants is bad in the clown world of california?

  7. How much of the cost of gasoline and petrochemical products is raised to pay for these nuisance lawsuits? So. Our tax dollars are paying “eco”-lawyers $500/hr. to nuissance-sue the manufacturer of essential products? We’re paying the lawyers TWICE!!

  8. Simply a shakedown of an industry that has been vilified for producing what everybody needs to exist in the modern world.

  9. They should have made dildos and smoothie machines.. This way they can go F themselves with a refreshing beverage.. As Cali as you can get..

  10. We are being treated like a conquered nation.

After the Goths took control of Rome, they wanted to keep Roman forms, but they put Goths in charge of everything, whether they understood what they were in charge of or not, and of course the Roman industrial miracle, which produced the comforts that the Goths envied, collapsed. They also made every judge a Goth, and when a Goth wanted something that a Roman had, he would take him to court, and sure enough, the Goth judge would find against the Roman, whatever the evidence.

The same thing happened when Henry VII took control of England, after defeating Richard III. He created a secret court, which had the power to take jurisdiction over any case happening anywhere in England, and sure enough, enemies of the King found themselves stripped of their wealth by the judges with perfect regularity.
