      Yup, and they take them off the main unit and put them on a separate trailer for transporting from one location to the next.

      1. My cityboy excursion to the Klamath Falls farm … got me used to calling ALL “cutting” equipment “swathers”. Pardon my simplistic categorizing.

   3. Swatters if you have Ukrainian blood around the Yorkton area. Big belly helps in the delivery of “Swatters”

   No air-conditioned cab, no lights, no GPS. Ate a lot of dust back then.

   1. Yup. No air conditioned (or heated) cab, no GPS, no 2 way radios, very few, if any shields covering dangerous moving parts, short unloading auger and what seemed liked hundreds of zerks (we used to call them grease nipples) to be greased daily with a manual grease gun. The operator monitored the combine’s performance by the sound of the engine or any strange noises that might emit from the bowels of the machine. Good times.

12. I kept pictuing this combine rolling through a sea of fields when listening to Scott Adams this AM explain his guess about the future of indoor farming , and somehow caught your comments section invite to him to see how grain farming can’t ever be an inside job.
