“Mayor Jyoti Gondek” Is Not A Character In A Tim Burton Movie

But she should be.

Calgary is dumping over $500 million into electric buses.

There was supposed to be a pilot program starting in 2022 with a handful of community shuttles. The purchase was done, but they still haven’t been delivered.

Meanwhile, the city said to hell with the pilot and committed to blowing half a billion on this. They felt that they didn’t need a pilot program because it worked so well in Edmonton. This was shortly before Edmonton’s electric bus fleet fell apart.

This is the next big boondoggle folks.

  1. It’s not a boondoggle. It’s a straight up wealth transfer program, and a way to further restrict human movement.

    1. Have I mentioned that Canadians are stupid. Apparently the people in Calgary are stupid as well. ,

  2. This will dovetail perfectly with the abandoned “Green Line” C-train which is billions short of funding now that the somewhat fiscally responsible provincial gov’t has said, “no more for this boondoggle” while the city council moves onto the next boondoggle. Nenshi, new leader of the NDP is said to be unhappy for this, strangely enough he doesn’t have to pay for it.
Will the fire dept be the next to have this foisted upon them?

We could re-name Calgary “Boondoggle’s Delight” if the federal #Libranos hadn’t wrapped that name up for themselves.

“to all my friends” … Barfly, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SpaEST00Mx4

*I don’t believe it will “only” be $500 million. That’s just a starting number, not an end point.

    1. I could be Stew in Calgary …. I did a quick look and couldn’t find any update on the electric buses. Only the 2022 and 2023 announcements … IS THIS FAKE NEWS???
Post a link to the real announcement if it is actually TRUE NEWS please!!!

Our city council and major are nucking futs but even they shouldn’t be stupid enough to do this.

      1. Well with any luck a “journalist” might actually ask that question. Perhaps even a few thousand emails to Mayor and Council will do the trick.

  3. Every dollar any government spends, is another dollar of control. From their perspective, everything is going swimmingly

  4. Municipal politicians are elected on their progressive pieties such as saving the planet and their fealty for the alphabet people and Jihadis not for their interest in how their existing infrastructure works or doesn’t. I suspect there will be some voting backlash in Calgary’s next election.

  5. Communism 101. Take over a productive country, loot the treasury, bankrupt everything, destroy productive society.

    1. https://www.westernstandard.news/opinion/lytle-mayor-gondek-drop-this-snitch-line/57560?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_term=2024-09-09&utm_campaign=Western+Standard+s+Daily+Newsletter

And provide a means to rat out your neighbor for counter-revolutionary activity!

Funny, when Stephen Harper wanted to initiate a snitch line so people could turn in possible terrorists, the msm went ballistic, but I have never heard of Gondek’s snitch line, which is apparently fully operational.

  6. SO Edmonton spent $60 million on buses that don’t work, and Calgary decides that they’ll spend more than 8 times as much in order to get the same result?

We used to have electric buses that ran on overhead lines, but the overhead lines required a lot of maintenance, so we got rid of the electric buses for reliable diesel buses, but still want to run electric buses, so get a manufacturer to slap a bunch of heavy batteries on them?

      1. Neither of them hold a candle to the stupidity of Toronto City Council under the WindVane Tory or Comrade Chow.

Council made the TTC buy Proterra buses, got 25 of them, has 12 in storage, presumable for spare parts since Proterra went bankrupt

  7. Don’t forget the Electric Fire Truck that Gondek just bought for roughly twice the price of a diesel unit. If you haven’t seen how fast and violent that these electric vehicles burn, google it. Now imagine one of these trucks in the ground floor garage, beneath the living and sleeping quarters of the firemen, bursting into flames!!!!! It will be a disaster.

    1. At least they won’t have to call the fire brigade when their engine’s lithium batteries burst into flame.

    1. Yup. Seems to me that Calgary needs a whole new water main to replace that rotting-out 49-year-old feeder line that kept everyone on severe rationing all summer.

But, nope. Gotta save the planet from Calgary’s microscopic CO2 emissions. You know, the CO2 that moves east with the prevailing winds and makes the crops on the prairies grow faster and fatter.

      1. Oh but the line was to last a century!
City: “What do you mean it still has to be maintained?”

Like an idiot that buys decorations for his car but never gets the oil changed. Then blames the manufacturer when the engine seizes.

  8. Why doesn’t Calgary just buy Edmonton’s electric buses that don’t work instead of buying their own electric buses that don’t work? Are all these people retards? I bet they could get a good discount.

      1. Edmonton is really positive. They are suing a bankrupt company trying to get their electric buses fixed. If Calgary buys electric buses there will need a really big parking lot for long-term storage.

  9. GONEDYKE….That *unt WAS 100% installed..

That much should be PAINFULLLY Obvious.
Her PAC was financed by younger SOROS
Dominion Voting Machines used in Civic election, a bit of tech = to a 8086 and 100% dead simple to hack…which I fully believe was done. Not one person in the past 3 yrs I’ve spoken to “voted” for this Commie *unt

    Look around the country..??
EVERYWHERE it’s the same Radical Leftist FILTH in Mayors seats.

THEIR GOAL is 100% inline with TRUDEAU: Complete and utter Destruction of this country. I’d see that Arrogant Filthy POS run over by one of her vaunted and utterly useless EV Buses.

….yea, I have no love for that “thing”…NONE.

    1. Just like her predecessor, Nenshi the Hutt.

It was painfully obvious in the election for his third term when “voting irregularities” popped up, and there weren’t enough ballots available at voting stations where Nenshi was particularly hated.

  10. How did I know she would be a hideously ugly Karen before seeing her picture?

Electric vehicles work great on the golf course. Just finished a round. No range anxiety. No terrible conflagration.

  11. Just curious if the electric busses will be heated? And what will that do to the range of the busses when running the heaters at 20 below? Or will the passengers be told to wear two coats … like it’s still 1824? And two sets of thermal underwear?

  12. TIme for @ABDaniellesmith to suspend this Mayor and Council. This is blatant miss-use of public funds. What procedure allowed them to bypass the pilot program? Who is the supplier? What are the connections there? This whole council and contract should be suspended pending an investigation. Time to swing the axe!

    1. That fire put more pollution in the air than all of the battery buses in the city, combined, ‘saved’!!

  13. For 500 million they could by 100,000 cars worth five thousand dollars each.
How many people have bus passes in Calgary?
