Julie began identifying privately as non-binary in 2021, he start of Grade 5. She came out to her class at the beginning of 2022.
With the help of a teacher in York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB), her parents were kept in the dark about her use of “they/them” pronouns and a new masculinized name in the classroom. Only in June 2022 did her parents learn what was quietly going on in school. When they objected and asked school leaders to include them in conversations about their daughter, the school called the Children’s Aid Society (CAS), which investigated the family.
In December 2023, Julie detransitioned after realizing she’d been swept up in a social fad that overlooked her underlying mental health issues. Now, her family is raising the alarm about the power schools have to keep parents in the dark.

I always find it disappointing when an individual has had such negative experiences with a “judgmental” … “exclusionary” … or simply “harsh” Christian. Yet, those are all HUMAN characteristics. They are hardly the exclusive purview of Christians. Name the group, and you will find the exact same interactions.
A little girl who hasn’t joined the Girl Scouts can feel an “outsider” because she isn’t wearing the GS uniform to school on Den Day. Or imagine if you’re a boy!? And you feeeeeel excluded by the Girl Scouts!? How DARE the Girl Scouts act “exclusionary”. Well … I guess that doesn’t happen anymore as now … “Scouting” … welcomes all.
But the reality is that Christianity welcomes ALL. Always has, always will. Yes, even the LGBTQueers. But Truth is Truth … and the negative behaviors that harm your relationship with God and God’s order in the world should be resisted. That’s no more judgmental than not tempting gravity by tossing yourself off a rooftop.

I would also like to add to Kenji’s response that not all Christians are saints, just as not all Jews follow the Torah. The same can be said for any group.
The reality is that the vast majority of Christians ARE welcoming. You have had the misfortune of dealing with some who are not, and yes, sadly, there are those among us as well.
But Kenji is right. Follow the TEACHING of Christianity, not some of those who proclaim themselves to be Christian, but pick and choose which beliefs they want to follow. We have a word for people like that, and I believe the word “grifter” suits them well.

Here in Alberta this would be looked at by an AB gov’t dept, I’ve contacted them a couple of times in the past 5 years concerning a child, was visited by them and the police that night and again the next morning, and the next month I was told they can’t police poor parenting.
It was for a mentally challenged child kept in a crib/bed for about 22 hours a day, and who was living on French fries for a few years.
l mrecollect years ago downtown hamilton passed the court house, cpl teen girls begging the crowd to hear how a hamilton area agent NOTORIOUSLY biased, pleading to hear them out how their dad was being persucuted wrongly, in a case involving THEM.
the *one time* l encountered children and familily servises st catharines, struggling with severe ocd, burned out, constant state of jet lad, totally exhausted the c*nt ‘tricked’ our daughter into saying something in private they could USE AGAINST US THEY WANTED TO TAKE HER AWAY THE ONE THING I GOT RIGHT AND THEY WANTED TO SMASH IT.

One of my colleagues has two daughters, the youngest of whom will be entering grade 3 IIRC. Sometime during grade 1, the girl said she liked playing soccer and she liked playing with boys. Her teacher happily proclaimed that the girl might be transgender! The girl, distraught, went to her father, as she did not want to be a boy. The father got a meeting with the teacher and ended up asking for prior notice whenever such topics were to be discussed in the classroom. This of course set off the teacher, who loudly proclaimed that she would not share her curriculum with him or any other parent because they were dangerous parents contributing to unsafe learning environments!
He pulled his daughters out of that school the next day and never went back.
Grade freaking ONE.

My wife, who is a teacher, is in some state of disbelief about how far this rot has spread, and asked why he didn’t pursue some legal action. I said, think about it, the line of attack against him writes itself if he had taken it any farther. He’s anti trans rights, anti LGBTQ, he’s a religious fundamentalist, he’s oppressing his child’s gender identity, blah blah blah.
I have two elementary school age kids myself so believe me, I’ve been listening very carefully for any signs that the rot has made its way into their school. So far, not yet, and I’ve been in the building several times. No sign of any of those infernal rainbow vomit flags. Again.. yet.

The teachers were brainwashed to suggest children *should* identify to the opposing sex or be ‘nonbinary’ rather than to their own sex — that’s going to cost some chopped body parts, but that’s only part of the devastation to families and the society as a whole.

It is to document an occurrence forty years ago and to provide a historical record of certain activities at St. Augustine’s Seminary in the Archdiocese of Toronto and the corruption of the times, the power and influence from the 1980’s that is still felt today. One of the priests named is retired, yet, as recently as a few months ago, remained on the Archdiocesan Priests Council. This is not an accusation of anything untoward on the part of the new Archbishop, Francis Leo, Indeed, this history may be news even to him and if this provides any service to him, then that alone is worth its publication. The Catholic faithful of the Archdiocese of Toronto must be made aware of things that happened forty years ago and that have been long forgotten or covered up and still affect the Church today.

I have a very “low” opinion of most school teachers, having gone through the system from 1958 to 1970 and then when my daughter was in the system from 1995 to 2007. I had a very few good teachers and it was the same for my daughter. Things improved dramatically when she went into the International Baccalaureate program (which was implemented in 1980). But even then her Biology teach was “cuckoo bananas” and I had to go to bat for my daughter (the teacher claimed she had NOT handed in an assignment and was going to get 0. I went to see the principal and he and I went through the teacher’s office, and lo and behold, there was my daughter’s assignment. The teacher did not return the next year, I understand that she had numerous mental issues).
I am NOT surprised that teachers are pulling this type of nonsense.

grade 3, oopsie, oooooone itsy bitsy spelling mistak (get it?!) induced the byatch to order me to write the whole thing out 100 times so she cd toss it all in hte trash in front of me.l truly cant recollect ever going home from school with such a level of fury.
grade 3-4 teacher had already covered long division and wouldnt cover it for me, so l solved the ‘problem’ by reverse engineering the thing each time a teacher’s pet wrote it all out showing off to the class. with my autism, l instinctively knew there’d be something left over so not for a second did that stymie the process.

at that point l had been lifting weight abt 6 years and muscles to show for it.
