Look it up. I studied it in an earlier life, and I would posit that it did more for civilization than most other discoveries.
For example…initiated and modernized sewage systems….taught us all to wash poo poo off our hands, and showed what kind of miasmas were spread by dumping shit on the street like dirty frenchmen in Paris…ETC.

The speaker indicated that about 500 million rural Indians defecate in public plus some of the urbanites. There are 1,400 million Indians so there is about 800 million who do use the privy.
Has the gov’t of Canada sent funds to India for the installation of signs indicating that pooping in a hole in the ground is a bad idea? I actually think if they did this, they’d send them in English and in French, regardless of whichever local language was being used in Utter Pradesh (for example). That’s the degree of ineptness I expect from tier 2 Canada, and why would India be any better in the past hundred years? Why wouldn’t gov’t officials simply say “in another generation things will be better and we’ll build facilities for you to poop in”
That’s the gov’t way.
Tier 2 Canada has permitted a few millions from these sorts of countries, in which they do things differently over there. None of them are qualified to work in Canada as actual plumbers or electricians etc… all the trades schools here require you to pass an exam and have X hours of work attributed to you in order to qualify as a Red Seal.
I’d worked with a couple of guys from Afghanistan in Regina SK 20 years ago who said that math just wasn’t taught to them in school over there. So they had no intention of going to HVAC school here as they’d fail.
I guess they “knew the numbers” but division and multiplication by decimals was simply out of the question.
They are qualified to shuffle paper across a desk at a gov’t office, or click on a computer terminal to figure out what you need from gov’t, but actually building something is beyond their capability for most trades. Some have difficulty pushing a broom.
I expect the new Canadians to be living in what was past known as “travelling salesmen hotels” near the airport for the next generation. Taxpayers pay for it, until they can figure out how to “do numbers”

Winnipeg has had a large modern sewage treatment plant at least since the early 1960s. I toured it as a young engineering student in the early 1960s. It discharges into the Red River after treatment and testing .
I am guessing you missed the part about the half of the sewer system in Winnipeg that is in the same pipes as the rainwater disposal system. Every time you have a heavy rain, which happens on a lot on the prairies, you get raw sewage going directly into the Red River. The raw sewage from Winnipeg is such a problem that if you are a commercial fisherman ice fishing on Lake Winnipeg you literally have to clean up the raw sewage on your nets as you pull them up on a regular basis. But we all know that’s caused by pig farmers, especially the piggy tampons that tangle up nets.
