The Critic- You are being nudged

A major source of this psychological manipulation is state-funded behavioural science, a discipline dedicated to strategically reconfiguring our physical, social and informational environments — by deployment of “nudges” — so as to increase the likelihood that we do the “right” thing. A nudge is a method of persuasion that often achieves its impact below the target’s level of conscious awareness, thereby providing a “low cost, low pain” way of inducing new ways of behaving “by going with the grain of how we think and act” (MINDSPACE, 2010). These strategies of influence exploit the fact that human beings operate almost all of the time on autopilot, making moment-by-moment decisions without conscious reflection and relying on imperfect heuristics to navigate the complexities of the world around them.

  1. Nudges = recycling, speed humps, 2X fine zones, and other “good” sounding minor “laws”

  2. Little bit by little bit by little bit, they will get you.
You won’t notice until too late.
You end up being a basic slave to the ruling class.
They will tell you that it’s in your interest.
They will tell you that you are wrong.
They will tell you that if you don’t agree, you are white supremacist, fascist, phobe of this or that.
The part that will be mute is that these are exactly the characteristics of those low lives themselves.
Heh, had to live through the same, some 55 years ago in a communist regime.
Looks as though the western world is just catching up.
Look up Khrushchev’s UN speech, that will explain everything.

Must add though, it’s almost there.

    1. I see it. Try to tell my family members but they won’t listen.
Current, feels like we’re in a failed revolution when a winning one was badly needed.

      1. The big test, and fall of this Blarney Science, is when the people refuse to turn up for a war. Expect the Nudge Units of all Western countries to be in overdrive to satisfy the banksters, profiteers and ideologues over Defeating Hitler’s second coming.

  3. advertisers hit on something similar in 70s, doctored photos and such, ‘subliminal effect’
images wedged in the movie too fast to notice but long enough to register subconsciously.

that was to sell cigarettes or Coke.

this bunch in 2024 wants to leverage control of a country. take your pick.

  4. Nudged? More like cattle prodded.

Instead of physical pokes or electrical shocks, we are constantly subjected by subtle and not so subtle images or messages that change the behaviour of the masses. First the susceptible, then the social followers who go along to get along, then the shamed. Those who are reluctant get ostracized.

When I get lectured about recycling I point out that other than aluminum cans, the rest is garbage and I’m saving society from the wasted effort of recycling.

    1. oh good grief ya about the aluminum. like l comically told my hard core trudeau follower he tosses jam smeared jars and tv dinner trays by the dozen in the blue box but the foil tart shells in the trash.
Dick Dick Dick, aluminum can be recyled and refined dozens of times its still all and only aluminum in its original form. not so plastic. many different kinds, cant do the same.

and then l see another tart foil in the trash.

so l make up for it by tossing plastic in the trash.

      1. W & L
Plastics are the easiest thing to recycle, I know , I used to run a plastics recycling Co., you should learn to stick to commenting on things you are informed about.

        1. Seems like only 9% of all we recycle (well, not me personally) gets ‘recycled’ the rest winds up in landfills.
If they want me to wash/clean out my plastics for them to recycle – they can pay me for that.
Enough of wasting my water, energy and time to do the labour for the profiteers.
If they were serious about cutting back on plastics, sell product to accommodate that.

If I have an empty heavy duty plastic laundry container, I should be able to refill that. Or at least buy a bag of powder, liquid to then place into still very good shape container. But they don’t do that.
Long time ago, we use to return our bottles to recycle them.
They don’t recycle glass, not profitable.
Our old blue box is where we keep the kindling now.
Long story short. Liberals in ON priced us out of the electric heating market so we now just burn wood to heat our home. Saves us lots of money still.

          1. So now you should understand the necessity to recycle: We are running out of holes.

        2. Nope, they’re not easy to recycle unless you have swell segregated stream such as industrial remnants. If you have mixed sources such as piles of consumer plastics it is nigh on ineffective to separate them. You end up with a junk mixture that is only suitable for low quality applications such as packaging or stickering. The real value in collected consumer plastics is extracting the energy from them by burning them. But in North America we are not open to that like they are in Europe.

So yes please don’t bs on the topic.

        3. for mr/ms/whatever gym: an einstein thought experiment:
3 tonnes of aluminum, all converted into baking trays and ladders and specialty aircraft parts.
by some strange miracle that 3 tonnes over time keeps getting recycled, then mixed in with other aluminum newly mined and recycled.
          over and over again.
to the point that original 3 tonnes is mixed in with 5,000+ tonnes of aluminum parts.
is there any metallurgical reason this could never happen? at what point to the aluminum metal crystals loose their strength for being recycled over and over?
now try it with doz if not 100+ types of plastic. how many iterations max on avg?

aka shut yer fcukin face stuff you know nothing about.

      2. That reminds me of a radio ad I heard a few weeks back, by the Plastic Defamation League, or somesuch eco-fascist organization. It told me that so many kilograms a day were raining down upon ME, little ol’ ME? Well, I was in a panic, didn’t know where to hide. /wankers

  5. Nudged? Not only no but heck no!
Nudged? We’re being bludgeoned, kicked. dragged, beaten, electro-shocked with the Truth As They Rewrite It to Be 24/7.

  6. Yeah the COVID nudge was barely noticeable. Just like the firearms nudge. And the groomer flag nudge.

  7. Read the article and be afraid.

during … Covid …, the Government had access to the SAGE subgroup, the Scientific Pandemic Insights Group on Behaviours (SPI-B), composed largely of psychological specialists dedicated to strengthening official communications via deployment of nudge strategies. One prominent member of SPI-B was Professor Susan Michie, who currently occupies … position as Chair of the World Health Organisation’s “Technical Advisory Group on Behavioural Insights and Sciences for Health”.

Be very afraid. These people are evil and, apparently, escape all responsibility for their bad actions.

  8. Its hard to judge the motivations of people who do or don’t do what they are told.. We don’t do the math.. The Covid shot?.. It didn’t help that peckerface Trudeau was pushing it, hard.. Beyond that it was, lets see what tomorrow brings.. No math involved..

After the fact.. Politics rolls in and hands people excuses for why they didn’t drop the gun or pull over :).. Empty headed people both doing and not doing what they are told.. For no reason at all.. Until somebody hands them a reason.. You are a hero or maybe a racist.. Other people do the math 🙂 We just do scht..
