I had to google that gal’s name to figure out who she was, pretty and all, and I suppose she’s a capable singer but I’m not sure if this Motown, soul, or the big tent of blues, is the genre for her.
Also the double chin on Slash is funny too. A whole lot of sitting on the couch playing his Gibson I suppose…

    1. That is the MOST AMAZING video of The Temp’s. doin Papa Was a Rolling Stone. Just an amazing piece of music executed to perfection … with a groove and FEELING that cannot be replicated. IMHO … that is one of the GREATEST music videos on the internets.

I was gonna post it … but you beat me to it. BTW … how sad that Rap and Hip Hop replaced MoTown. Now THAT was music that united black and white … with soul, baby! As I said … what a feeling! What a groove!

Amen. And look, thin black women, happy and dancing. Juxtapose today.
And I agree with the poster’s here, if you don’t think a vocalist can’t wreck a song – I couldn’t get through it.

  2. There was a band in Toronto called the Government who achieved some prominence (like, high school kids in Regina knew about it) with a record called “Electric Eye”, a suite of songs about the Son of Sam killings. The best version of “Papa was a Rolling Stone” I ever heard was by the Government, live one night at one of the scene bars. They launched into a stunning version of “The Fumigators”, one of the songs from “Electric Eye”, took an instrumental break of dazzling intensity, and cut right down to the basic beat, and then took off: “It was the third of September…”. They were just magnificent. Gave it a full run through, then the bass player delivered an improvised finale: “Yes, Papa was a no-‘count, Papa was a low-life, Papa was a no-good… but most of all, Papa was a Fumigator!” and they were back to “The Fumigators” and a triumphant conclusion.

Ah, the things I’ve see in a wasted life.

    1. Oh come on, you got that jazzy piano plonking away unattached to the base.

  3. She can sing the notes.

Maybe one day she’ll be able to sing the music.

    1. Sorry, Robert’s verdict is Very Good. When you coverm a song, you don’t sing it the same.

  4. Looking at her other stuff, thuis is the best. She ordinarily sings pop rap crap. I look forward to hearing some other stuff.
