MikesMoneyTalks.ca- So painfully full of it. Right now in BC the NDP is sending cancer patients to private clinics in Washington State. Numeorus NDP cabinet ministers have used the private Cambie Street Surgery Centre, which was established at the urging of the NDP in order to allow union workers to avoid the public system wait lists.
As an MP you join federal prisoners, military RCMP in using private clinics – as did former CAW head Buzz Hargrove to get knee surgery in a week in a private clinic while the average Cdn waits over a year in the public system. 17,032 patients died waiting for diagnostic scans and surgery in 2022-23 – but not one connected politician. They don’t wait b/c they use private clinics.

I have long maintained that NO public employee, including elected officials, should be allowed access to any health care outside of the official public system. This includes immediate family members, and should also include accessing health care outside of Canada. If you a volunteer to the governing structure of a socialist endeavor…
Too bad Michael Campbell can’t convince any elected or electable Conservatives to stand up to communism.
Not the first communist leaders to seek Healthcare in the US.
My one relative has been waiting FOUR YEARS to see a specialist.
There is no corruption I will not believe Canada’s health care system is capable of. My faith has been completely and utterly destroyed. I will never again get vaxxed with anything. I now avoid doctors and anything in the health care like they are out to kill us.
Every single one of the European nations that are ranked ahead of Canada in heath care delivery and outcomes uses a mixture of public and private delivery. Every one. Yet the Canadian government can’t seem to figure out what is wrong with our own system?
I think that only North Korea shares our centrally planned monopoly. Every other nation allows some private heath care delivery and or insurance. To be accurate all the hospitals are state owned and operated while doctors clinics are privately owned but under the strict thumb of provincial billing rules and professional bodies thoroughly submissive to the state. IOW, socialism, with token fascism so the state apparatchiks can blame doctors (as being an aspect of private healthcare) – for their central planning features as much as failures. The effectiveness of the fascism of doctors became apparent during the COVID pandemic when only a handful sacrificed their “professional standing” in standing up to the state deemed protocols.
Just get those Conservatives elected and watch the reforms get started……………………any day now……………..
Cuba. Their much vaunted health care system relies on Canadian doctors sending expired medications and old textbooks to the island in the spare luggage of tourists.
The “Public Servants” in the Canadian “health care” system will not allow it. It is a public servant care system.
Government is always the problem.
Tommy Douglas is not dead enough. We need more private clinics, as our universal health care sucks.
The title reminds me of Canned Heat’s Let’s Work Together. But that made me look fo one of my favourites, Old Brown Cow.
Did Canned Heat do such a song? I seem to remember it but cannot now find it on Youttube. Am I right?
Or is it a case of The Party defines hsitory and the present and future.
MLA, BC Conservative leader John Rustad can run with this.
Effin commie VERMIN!
Memories of Jean Cretin, who lied when he was Prime Minister that he was skiing, when he was instead flying on a military jet for healthcare in the US.
A friend who is a retired operating room nurse was slated for a hernia operation, but was told that she would have to wait six months. However, it turned out that the surgeon was a former colleague of hers, and he slated her for surgery within a week. I don’t begrudge her the queue jumping, but incidents like this are typical of all centrally planned systems.
It’s a feature of the system. Get in good favour with an “important” doctor and they’ll pull strings to get you moved up the queue. If you can’t stand the suck-hole-ing, or travel in different social circles, too bad, you wait or take your own money and leave the country to get prompt diagnostics and treatment. Your friendly next door neighbour communists have decided that you must suffer or leave the country and they vote accordingly. What’s worse, is that the Party the communists would never vote for tows their party line.
All animals are equal. But some animals are more equal.
That looks like a taxable benefit if they are getting treatment in a private clinic without having to wait or pay for it…
“Why 17,032 Cdn died waiting for diagnostic scan and surgery in 2022-23? Why is the BC government sending cancer patients to private clinics in Washington State? Why have there been so many ER closures in BC? Why do MPS, federal prisoners, RCMP, military have access to private care when the public does not? Why can someone come from Alberta and access private care in BC but and someone living in BC can’t. How did Buzz Hargrove get an MRI and operation on his knee in one week when it would take the rest of us a year +?
etc”
Why, why, why, indeed. We all know the answer: the criminal negligence of all federal and provincial political parties over a thirty-year period…and a dumb, mute electorate that enjoys getting pissed on.
It’s a no Brainer! If you are waiting for surgery, drive your truck to Ottawa, put 2 Canadian flags on it and start blowing the horn. Maybe a flag that says something amorous about Trudeau for good measure. Free room and board ,your surgery and you let the government know what you think of them. Win,win, win. It’s sic.
You can be sure these posts have been pegged for censoring by the powers that be. i am certain that way up the food chain at censor central, some bureaucrat who ordered the censoring gets private healthcare, and believes that maintaining and protecting the system we have is for the “greater good.” These are the most dangerous of all, pure evil convinced they are virtuous.
These posts really hit home. Just having gone through a very scary situation (that has turned out well in the end, thank goodness) the absolute gong show of the “medical” system in Alberta is no different. After a comedy of errors, was determined that son urgently needed a CT scan before surgery could be performed. Specialist said don’t worry, we can book it for you as an urgent situation and get it done quickly. Two freakin months was what came back. (An MRI was six to eight.) Phoned a private clinic in Edmonton, had the CT done in less than 24 hours at a cost of $400 and the service was compassionate and professional. Wondering how many thousands it costs the public system with the multiple layers of bureaucrats to get through before you actually get a CT or MRI. And as soon as someone makes a common-sense suggestion, the howling from the usual suspects begins.
Why is it that “trust the science” never seems to include the science of economics?
