Not a mock suicide vest, actual smoke grenades. Legal in Canada, but not the thing to bring to certain events.

Anyone remember the soldiers on the rooftops at the big C-68 protest in Ottawa years ago?
Couldn’t say if it was a sniper team or not . But I remember two guys together and one had the binos and looked busy.
It was sniper teams, several of them. I took good binoculars to the protest and my buddy had a good monocular. We could see them perfectly.
And guess which person was arrested. The person wearing the mock-suicide/ammo vest or the one wearing a Pearson Rag and the sign saying Hamas is a Terrorist Organisation?
I’ll give you three guesses and the first two don’t count.

Let’s see here. We have all the flavours of Islam. We have non-Islam African tribes. We have the entire Indian subcontinent. We have all the Asian countries. We have Central and South America represented. And we have the Caribbean, throw them in the mix too. We have the few natives left, completely outnumbered but noisy. Plus, we have leftovers of old European rivalries that still seem alive and well.

non restricted firearms are legal to carry by license holders, but we would have been gunned down indiscriminately had anyone worn a legally obtained and legally owned non restricted rifle across our backs on a sling during a protest.
Our firearms instructor said the same:
“While it is legal to carry a slung rifle, not concealed, it’s a could vs. should affair, unless you are testing the response time of your local constabulary..”
It’s about the only thing that gets the cops out quickly, especially if said bearer of arms is white! With the quality of the cops these days, i’d expect to be questioned after being shot, first!
