The cost to consumers of two offshore wind projects expected to support New York’s self-imposed climate goals has more than doubled from their original estimates, which were high to begin with. Developers had threatened to cancel their offshore wind projects without higher prices, citing inflation, supply chain challenges and rising costs driven by the pandemic, Bidenomics and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The agreements, which still need to be finalized, are expected to keep 1,700 megawatts of offshore wind on schedule for 2026. New York wants to reach 70 percent renewable energy by 2030, but to reach that goal—the highest renewable goal in the nation for 2030, the state will need to dump huge costs on its utility customers.

“the state will need to dump huge costs on its utility customers.”
Who the hell did they think was going to pay for it? Even if the government covers some of the costs the utility customers will pay it on their tax bill, instead of their electric bill. Either way, they’re paying.
I don’t want to be a part of it.
And no sane person would.
“And no sane person would.” Non sequitur – I thought the topic was New York. 😉
The illegals don’t care, they get FREE everything
I think New Yorkers need more renewables. They should go for 100% renewables.
Supplemented by massive batteries.
This message brought to you by Joe “Make America sh*tty) Biden.
((New York is not the first or only state to allow financially distressed offshore wind facilities to re-bid their contracts after several project cancelations over the past few years. Other states, including New Jersey, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut, have allowed similar actions. ))

Hmmmm…what do these states have in common? And, allowing companies to re-bid after they lowballed on their first bid. That’s called “Fraud” and/or “Misrepresentation.” It’s a felony.
“That’s called “Fraud” and/or “Misrepresentation.” It’s a felony.”
Perhaps, but not if it’s done by Democrats.
Huh. Most lefty states you can’t get a contract to fix concrete or stone curbs that trucks, snowplows…have knocked loose. You need a small dump truck, heavy bars, couple of laborers. Grunt work. Got to pay a insurance/bond company for just in case.
But $100’s million “wind money” farm? Hire politicians kids, cut in unions, low ball and win. No bond for performance, price, finish.
No problem.
The felony should be all the facts and figures presented in this article. None of these costs are accurate as they’re ALL based on the nameplate rating of these wind contraptions. The people of NY will be paying FAR MORE than the costs listed here, because none of these wind contraptions will generate even 20% on average of what’s represented. And what of the backup power cost. Lies, damnned lies … and wind power statistics.
That’s a violation of “Truth in Advertising” Laws of the greatest magnitude. The State should be made to tell the truth of just a how much the ratepayers will REALLY PLAY.
Why not just shoot those damn whales. Don’t torment them with the underwater pulses that seem to be prevalent with these installations.
Like, get those west coast Indigents with their 50 cal guns and cedar canoes to come ”for the harvest”.
Whale oil is all natural and renewable.
And an endless source, even when the wind takes some time off.
“Like, get those west coast Indigents with their 50 cal guns and cedar canoes to come ”for the harvest”.”
I remember that one. They threatened to start whaling again and all it took was money to get them to stop.
(funny how that works)
“…the state will need to dump huge costs on its utility customers…”
New York State already has the second highest out-migration in the United States, over 350,000 net loss annually. This will simply speed up the loss of New York ratepayers in the same fashion as California has been doing, followed by Illinois. It would seem that the assorted Democrat s**tholes are emptying themselves out because of the policies of those they insist on electing. Another few decades, and they will end up all looking like Detroit.
It will be interesting to see how long it will be before these assorted socialist gulags start erecting fences and barriers to keep their populations locked in.
I’m watching to see whether their neighbouring states start building those fences first.
As John Lydon sang. “This is what you want this is what you get”
lm good with this so long as newyorkers admit their elected reps did this.
to us and them.
us being ANYONE voted it down them being the brain damaged idjits they are.
