Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

They should switch to heat pumps. Justin says they’re ‘free’. 🙂
Who would have thought you could heat a home with all the Canadian dollar bills they lit on fire?
Think you need a min $5 Bill to burn. Not sure about any toxic chemicals…..
The Drake.
Shocked I tell you.
Just SHOCKED…..
The headline should be “Stories you’ll never see on the CBC, CTV, GLOWBULL, etc….”
That works out to $7500/yr/home. Even with their subsidies my cost has been much less… My nat. gas, mid-efficient furnace (25 yr old) and water heater (44 yr old) now run at a current combined cost of about $1200/yr. They were much cheaper 18 years ago. It hurts that I had tax dollars spent to discover that mother nature is still cruel to everyone over time.
But the virtue is priceless.
She’s even crueler to the stupid
That’s pretty expensive feel good stuff. Supposedly renewable energy is pretty much a cult phenomenon. Eventually, all these distractions will disappear as the rational world turns to nuclear power when hydrocarbons are either too expensive or banned by Jacobins.
“Along with the homes, the $14.6-million project includes the “energy centre,” which sits next to 144 underground, thermal energy storage bore holes dug 37 metres deep. The holes are underneath a small green space in the community.”
So they built a really expensive and complicated ground source heat pump system?
2.7 bore holes per small residence?
All custom fittings, so nothing commercial off the shelf
(community based heating is not new, New York has a steam system)
Good thing the gov’t subsidized it, otherwise it might not have gotten built./sarc
I live in okotoks, my property taxes better not go up to cover this mess!!
“…relying on natural gas as a heat source…”
If I was mayor of Okotoks, there’s no way in hell I’d pipe NG into the community. You bastards made your bed, now lie in it. You pay back all the taxpayer funded subsidies supporting your folly, you write a signed, public letter apologizing for your virtue-signalling stupidity, you kiss my hairy unwashed ass (“not on the left side, not on the right side, but right in the middle”) in front of the Post Office at high noon and perhaps, just maybe, I’ll give you a single lump of coal upon which you can cook your supper.
Otherwise, FOAD.
I live in a passive solar home built in the 70s. I have solar panels, geothermal and two wood stoves. If I paid the right people I could say I was net zero.
My solar heat comes from the way the south wall is designed and oriented along with some other things needed to make that feasible.
I see no features in any pictures of the homes in the neighborhood that would indicate they were designed to capture the suns heat. Except the solar panels. But that would barely keep your shower hot.
