    1. Yup, that’s what the senior police officer suggested everyone do!

They’ve admitted they, and their political masters, are completely incompetent. Strange how they always want to keep on being paid, eh?!

  1. Those are Philly-like stats which saw about 21,600+ vehicle thefts in 2023. Though with a million more people than Philly, these are sort of rookie numbers. Get with the program Toronto!

  2. Well done everybody! We can be sure that the Chief of Police’s ideas for facilitating further car thefts will push these numbers over the top and give Toronto something to really be proud of! And while we’re at it, let’s really try to reduce the stigma attached to armed B&E and carjacking! Not all cultures are the same and who are we to judge which are better?

  3. Does the chief think that he can do better than a 1.3% recovery rate? and maybe arrest a whole lot more carjackers and thieves?

or would that be too hard for him, and “Toronto’s Finest”

    1. 1.3% recovery rate in these days of Lo-Jacks, On-Star and Apple Airtags? Come on. Cars broadcast their locations.

I’ve got a friggin’ kick scooter that tracks its own location. If somebody steals it you think the cops will go to that location and bust them? Not a chance in hell. Worse, they will stop me if I go get it myself.

Why? Easy arrest, looks good on the resume, get an attaboy from your boss, good press, win win win. Right?

But no. They’ve been -ordered- not to do what’s obvious and easy. That’s what’s up.

Why? My suspicion, real estate scam. Depress prices with crime, scoop up cheap houses, “fix” the crime and sell at a profit. It fits the observations.

  4. The joys of diversity. If Canada had remained mainly of European descent, this sort of crap would happen a lot less. And I mean A LOT. But import the 3rd world, become the 3rd world. There ain’t no magic dirt.

  5. @JD – “would that be too hard for him, and “Toronto’s Finest”

You just try walking downtown there with a Canadian flag and a “Freedom” T-shirt and we’ll see “who will be hard on who buddy”!

  6. Yes, big comments about collaboration with all police departments. What about the guy with the stolen Suburban with two Airtags for tracking. He contacted Toronto police, then alerted them it was in a railyard and they fobbed it off to rail police who said something to the effect of “ho hum.” Ya, nothing will come of this except increasing insurance rates.

  7. I would guess that hanging your car keys on the door knock is at least keeping criminals out of your fridge.

  8. Mass immigration, free welfare, and a catch-and-release justice system. I’m sure if they just try a little harder, Metro Toronto Police can get that 12,000 stolen cars number up to 24,000 by this time next year.

Crack down on those d@mn White people a little harder! Raise their taxes and send a compliance unit around to make sure they’re keeping their car keys by the front door like they’re supposed to. That’ll do it.

  9. If the Toronto news media was doing its job, car thefts and car jackings would be in the news every day, which would put more pressure on politicians and police to solve the problem. But the Toronto media does not want to upset the politicians or the police, nor do they want the public to know who is committing the crimes, so they will quickly put the issue to sleep for months to come.

  10. Why should YOU have a nice car and a hard working criminal doesn’t? Equity demands he TAKE your car.

  11. Toronto Police,hard at work,Serving and protecting..
Just not the Ratepayers of Toronto.
Toronto citizens may want to up their game..1 every 40 minutes?
    Thats lame.
    Even Toronto can do better.
1 every 40 seconds, now that would make a nice meme.

  12. Of course ,the statistic itself is suspect,as these characters have form for reducing crime stats..
    By not reporting.
    Not taking complains.
    And just plain lying.

  13. Maybe another TPS team, with attendant ambulance, needs to strike out a few hours forth from Toronto..
Removing a few Car Dealers,in other jurisdictions will surely reduce car thefts in Toronto.

  14. My apologizes for the thread battering.
What has been done to the commenting screen?
    Filter?
    Something..
Posts go poof, yet will post when broken down…
Almost like one of those AIs,Artificial Idiot,is attempting to find context and meaning..
Like a Liberal, telling you, what you meant..

    1. I’ve seen more impressive thread battering at fish and chip shops. I wonder if the prison authorities are to blame? They’re always searching the internet for context.

  15. “One car was stolen every 40 minutes in Toronto last year”

Why don’t they put a guard on it? What kind of car was it?

    LOL Just kidding, of course!

  16. Well, you let in millions of young males from all over the world.. You are also letting in organized crime.. They will give themselves jobs after all.. We have to go hard on these men, but we wont..
