1. Under proposed NDP legislation in Canada, Judith Curry could end up behind bars for stating such things.

   That’s how close Canada is to total collapse into a nightmare evil dictatorship.

   1. Try not to be as hysterical as the AGW fanatics. Justatwit and BagOShit are about as popular as the bottom of a cesspool. Their chance of winning reelection in 2025 is zero.

2. “The consensus” is a bit of a farce.

   Climatologists generally agree that (1) atmospheric CO2 levels are increasing, (2) this should increase the global temperature over what it would otherwise be, and (3) global temperatures have increased over the last century or so. On that, there is a strong consensus. Curry herself agrees on these things.

   Beyond that, things get mushy. Most climatologist do not make explicit predictions about how much those temperature increases will be or how that will affect mankind. Yet you wouldn’t know that from the press, who try to give the impression that almost every climatologist is predicting imminent catastrophe.

   1. Geologists will say that CO2 lags temperature rise. They’ve got the data. There’s no proof that CO2 is responsible for any significant warming. It’s ALL noise within the error bars and natural climate changing processes are still at work – although totally ignored by the Climate Change Industry. The cherry picked lying is just like the Big Pharma jab “Safe & Effective” disaster.

      1. Solubility of CO2 in water decreases as you increase temperature.

         1. Absolutely correct. The seasonal mass of atmosphere-ocean exchange of CO2 is approximately 15,000 billion tonnes.
            Total natural emmissions of CO2 from things like volcanic activity are on the order of 800 billion tonnes/year.
            Total human emissions of CO2 from all sources is about 35 billion tonnes. That’s less than 5% of total natural emission sources of 800. And it’s a trivial rounding error of the annual chemical exchange of atmosphere and ocean.
            This entire scam of AGW depends upon people not understanding numbers, their relative sizes, and orders of magnitude.

   2. Just so you know the “official” ground surface temperatures” that are used by “scientists” have been adjusted. Those temps prior to 1940 have generally been adjusted DOWNWARD while those after 1940 have been generally adjusted UPWARD. What do you think would be the result of any analysis using that data?

   Wonder if the climate alarmists have added in the environmental footprint impacts of these fires to battery production or how they are contributing like the natural forest fire smoke particulates caused by climate change that are killing humans now and in the long term?

5. Every good lawyer knows to never ask a question of a witness for which the answer is not already known. Cuts down on unpleasant surprises and monkey wrenches getting thrown into the works.

   Narrative promotion is no different.

   When I worked for the Feds (lo, those many years ago, when the world was young and so was I), I sat on a couple of committees which were given mandates in advance to investigate something. Those mandates, without exception, clearly stated where we were supposed to go and what our remit was. No straying off-course. This virtually guaranteed a certain limited range of “comfortable” outcomes, even though there were important discoveries which had been made outside of our approved range of investigation.

   It was a very frustrating exercise.

8. Finance made demonstrably false claims in the Federal Budget, published April 7, 2022. Namely:

   “Canada is already experiencing an increase in heat waves, wildfires and heavy storms.”

   All three claims are false, but the sake of brevity let’s focus on the “heavy storms.”

   While Finance denied my ATIP request for the sources for the false “increasing heavy storms” assertion, their response appropriately cited ECCC’s “Canada’s Changing Climate Report” as a credible reference.

   But Section 4.3.2.1 of the report, titled “Observed changes,” clearly supports my complaint:

   “There do not appear to be detectable trends in short-duration extreme precipitation in Canada for the country as a whole based on available station data. More stations have experienced an increase than a decrease in the highest amount of one-day rainfall each year, but the direction of trends is rather random over space. Some stations show significant trends, but the number of sites that had significant trends is not more than what one would expect from chance.”

   Previous governments recognized reality: A June 13, 2019, letter signed by Environment Minister Catherine McKenna reads in part: “Extreme precipitation is also projected to increase in the future, although the observational record has not yet shown evidence of consistent changes in short-duration precipitation extremes across the country.” The source authority for this statement was Environment and Climate Change Canada’s Dr. Xuebin Zhang, our nation’s leading expert in the field.

   Who here believes that the Cabinet has secret weather data too sensitive to be released?

   The reason my ATIP request was denied was “Cabinet confidences!!!!”

   Our Cabinet apparently has secret historical climate records too sensitive to be shared with the unwashed.

   Refusing to address uncontested facts, the Information Commissioner supported Finance’s fabricated claim for a Cabinet confidences exclusion regarding my complaint.

   The activist ECCC just lets this go on while cheering from the sidelines.

   Canadians deserve better!

10. CO2 is only 0.04% of the atmosphere, and of that only 3.9% is produced by humans. Anyone who thinks that our tiny contribution of CO2 is a problem has –been thoroughly duped. Humans have minimal — if any impact on the climate.
