    what bothers me and will very much so if this vendetta succeeds, is this, how the F**K is it a miniscule handful of players in the american legal cystem (lve long since stopped calling it ‘justice’) diktat the a man with 10,000,000s supporters, who loudly and truly want HIM as potus, determine if he is *allowed* to even have his name on the ballot?

        The problem is when the end of a long period of impulsive, and coerced tolerance is reached and the results on display , an instinctual intolerance takes it’s place. By one side in it’s original intent , and the other finally in it’s last defense.
        You can guess which side is down to it’s last few gasps of air, and imagine what happens when they lose.

    Let’s remember that the bank that Trump “defrauded” said under oath that the loans were repaid in full on time, they’d be pleased to do business with Trump again and no, they never believe the customer’s asset valuations. It is their fiduciary duty to reach an independent opinion.

    Look for Trump’s popularity to go up again as he correctly claims malicious prosecution.

    2. The “victims” were the state of new york, who couldn’t properly assess the Trump properties for tax purposes, and the banks who loaned him money, who couldn’t properly assess the Trump properties for loan purposes.

      Note that neither of those 2 groups of people were employed or controlled by Trump, but he magically was able to bamboozle them to his benefit.

      2. How is it unfair to negotiate a loan on terms acceptable to the lender?
        The bank wasn’t “bamboozled” – they were happy to do business with Trump.
        If this is a crime, every real estate firm in the nation should be prosecuted.

      3. And, of course neither of those bodies has any responsibility for independent due diligence and assessments, and both were solely dependent on the claims of the Trump organization. Its apparently difficult for them to assess those high-rise buildings that are so effectively hidden, after all.
        Never mind that if the State of New York accepted the Trump organization’s claims of inflated values, they would thereupon increase the taxes levied on those properties, and garner greater revenue.

  7. If this judgment stands, then every company and every tax payer will sue the city of New York for over evaluating their properties and will demand and receive judgments in the trillions of dollars for excess property taxes paid

      I feel the same. I don’t understand this rendering of the verdict and *then* having a trial, for one thing…but this ‘judge’ is clearly enjoying this whole thing far too much. The judgement will clearly be overturned, but what can actually be done to deal with Engoron himself, and by whom?

  12. Democrats won’t be happy until they provoke a hot civil war. They’ll win initial battles but ultimately won’t survive a protracted, unconventional, and asymmetrical conflict. Canada will piggyback on the chaos and whomever is controlling our federal government will try the same here. They’re more likely to win here.

    The Judge declared Trump guilty before the trial.
    Trump must put up a bond equal to the judgement against him in order to even appeal.

Since then there has been untold thousands of instances of illegality carried out by the ‘justice’ system in America. For all the Democrat/Liberals that are cheering this decision, are you really that deranged from what has happened. American society has been attacked and conquered. From the lowest tax-paying blue-collar worker to the icon of the American dream the justice system has been taken from you. What we are seeing here is financial assassination committed by the justice system in America. Not just financial assassination of individuals but assassination of the capitalist system. Hitler and Stalin could never have accomplished what the Democrats have now achieved. Years in prison without trials for the J6 protestors that couldn’t afford lawyers and financial ruination for everyone else. Oceania has been achieved and there is absolutely no going back.

      The problem for us on the right is that we are nominally law and order whereas the left has no respect for those notions whatsoever. To them, anything is permissible if it furthers their authoritarian state religion. We need to lose that sense of fair play – they’ve declared war on us and we’re carrying on as if they’re merely misguided and bipartisanship is still a virtue.

    It doesn’t matter what the defendant answered in response to questions. It only matters that the plaintiff prove the case. Credibility is not evidence. The judge simply accepted the plaintiff’s claims verbatim.

    It’s also signficant that Trump was denied a trial by jury. This too is likely to weigh heavily against this judgment being upheld under appeal.

  28. I’m like a lot of writers here. I can’t see the logic of this prosecution or its outcome. Trump was obviously dealing at a high level with experienced New York bankers who must have or should have had a handle on a realistic value of his assets. I’m sure he didn’t just hand them a number and they said thanks and accepted it. Even for small loans, bankers question unrealistic claims and demand verification of value. If they knew it was unrealistic and they should have known, then they would have called him on it. According to Trump, and there seems to be no argument to the contrary, he met the terms of the loan and there was no default. So where is the problem other than the possibility of incompetent bankers.
    I don’t like Trump but the number of lawsuits and the amount of some of the awards make this look like a witch hunt. It diminishes both sides and makes the US appear that it’s being run by a club of vindictive idiots. Surely they can do better than this pair of seemingly shady old men. Are US citizens back to voting for Trump in the same vein as the last time Trump was elected? – the anybody but Hilary mindset. Only this time it’s anybody but Biden or his handlers who seemingly prop up a demented old man because he is ‘ manageable’ for them. It verges on elder abuse to keep this man in power while he stands in front of crowds and humiliates both himself and his long legislative record with his demented mumbling. He is serving a purpose for some less than ethical individuals. Pity the US who has fallen a long way.
