At the rate things are going, there’s little hope for reconciliation in this country. Once a politically influential group openly embraces racial collectivism and pigeonholes others into superior and inferior race categories, it’s all over.

“The white people in Canada are subhuman because of what they’ve allowed to happen,” said former Chief Councillor of the Tla’amin First Nation KWAST-en-ayu (Maynard Harry) in a 90 minute phone interview with The New Westminster Times about the City of Powell River’s controversial name change proposal.

“White people need to acknowledge their culture is lost,” said KWAST-en-ayu bluntly. “White settler culture is a lost culture because nothing good defines white people.”

“If I insult white people, I don’t give a sh-t,” admitted KWAST-en-ayu.

  1. Well he is honest at least. And his sentiments are echoed by a lot of others: blacks, Indians, Arabs, Chinese, etc, Russians just substitute “white” for “western” and run along. But let’s pretend there is a happy ending to all that, else we will be called racist.

Unfortunately your ancestors were warehoused on reserves under the federal government eventually to become communist enclaves run by corrupt leaders keeping their people down and uninvolved in progress, employment and development. If you want sympathy you’ll need to find fellow communists. IOW, GFY.

    First Nation undermines the august ‘Human Rights® Courts’ in Canada by promoting the concept of second class Canadians, who should be herded into areas already reserved for them, Vancouver eg.

    Reconciliation cannot ever happen unless both sides accept a truthful analysis of what happened historically.
    For example:

    1. genocide did not occur nor was it a practice of the government of Canada.

    2. Residential schools didn’t murder students.

    If you think your negotiating position is enhanced by insisting the other side grovel and apologize to you for everything that has happened to you in the last 500 years you are wrong. Nothing will get reconciled unless both sides quit lying to themselves

  23. According to the above definition, the indigenous identity of any Tla’amin person is not rooted in blood, ancestry, or DNA. Many of high-profile so-called “pretendians,” under the JWG definition, like Buffy Sainte-Marie, would have a valid claim to indigeneity, even though they might be of Italian or some other European “colonialist” extraction

    I was thinking he looks pretty white himself, but I guess call yourself indigenous and your immediately not white at all and can happily ignore the 3/4 or so of your ancestry that regarded themselves as white.

  26. Clearly what he is saying is violation of criminal code sections 318 and 319, publicly inciting hatred. There is no ‘context’ or discretionary opinion here, he was very clear. He doesn’t care. Because he knows this country is a joke. The station, his band and himself should all be sued but won’t happen because he’s right, this country is a joke.
