The garden utopia is not blooming as we were promised;
Plant-based meat spiked in popularity in 2016 when the Impossible Burger and the Beyond Burger — both made to look and taste like beef — launched and gained mainstream media attention. Some ingredients that make up plant-based meat include soy, potato, pea protein, artificial flavors, coconut oil, beans, etc.
Now, start-up companies who produce plant-based meat products are experimenting with blending animal fat into plant-based ingredients as they are now prioritizing taste over sustainability, according to the Post. Companies also don’t mind straying away from its vegan and vegetarian customers as they are more interested in reaching a larger base of consumers.
According to a recent Gallup survey, in the United States, only 4% of Americans claim they are vegetarian and 1% vegan, revealing a slight decline to figures that were seen in previous years. In 2018, 5% of Americans in the survey claimed they were vegetarian, and 3% said they were vegan.
Master Plan for Humanity: I’ll eat the still-beating hearts of my enemies before I eat bugs.

Bill Gates is losing big time on his purchases of farming properties adding to this push on gay rights… ops sorry vegetables right for consumption.
Bill… what’s your name man, Bill?
Where’s the beef!
A delicious pork pig roast in a pit of coals…
Slab of meat on the Bar…Bee and not that Barbie.
Pig roast in a pit of coals, invokes a Homer Simpson drool.
vegetinarianism is like all those variations and permutations of marxism socialism leninism stalinism maoism trotskyism marxist-leninism did l miss anyism?
Something else that tastes a lot like beef, is beef.
Don’t forget venison… Sustainable and the most expensive free meat you’ll ever eat.
lordy the first time l bit into venison was a catch by my very experienced knowledgeable brother. he knew all the regs, best areas, time of year, the licence lotteries out of province etc.
so tender because he bagged the right age and time of year. and knew all about field dressing and had a walk in freezer last l knew.
a skill headed down the same path as buggy manufacturing tq TURDeau.
Yep. Blending animal fat into their frankenstein concoction will cause the vegans to reject them, while not tempting anyone who actually eats real meat.
But if they blend some beef into it…maybe that could work. In fact, as they put more and more beef into the blend, eventually they will reach 100% beef and people might actually eat the stuff.
I’m going to market vegan venison. “Venison animal not an animal?” The slogan alone guarantees success.
Lobsters , crabs and shrimp are marine bugs, so they’re OK.
jambalaya , crawfish pie. file gumbo all bug dishes
just about to mardi gras , the most desecrated religious holiday in the world. though that may be a stretch
“Jambalaya and a crawfish pie and a filet gumbo, gonna feed this bug dish to my cher amio…”
Animal fat for vegetarians? Is it a promising cure for that mental illness? In another life in the olden days a packing plant I worked for sold a poop load of beef fat labelled for deep frying. That’s why fries tasted so good back in the day.
While we are on the topic of lard or at least close. My mother used to tell me stories of how back in the Thirties the poor Blahblahski kids used to bring lard sandwiches to school. I looked it up today. Poles and Germans eating lard sandwiches is a cultural thing and not a poverty thing.
“Poles and Germans eating lard sandwiches is a cultural thing and not a poverty thing.”
Add dutch to that list
Can confirm. I still eat bread smeared with lard, except these days, it’s duck fat.
Yum!
Dad told a story about Ukrainian neighbours down the road in rural Sask who were so poor they couldn’t afford butter & used lard instead.
My own father (born 1917) said lard sandwiches were very common. And saskatoon preserves were a special treat added occasionally.
Mmmm. Saskatoon preserves. And chokecherry…
You can add those that grew up in socialist paradise of the second half of the 20th century.
Been there, done that, it’ an undeniable fact.
Could only afford a brick of butter on Sunday mornings for family of six.
Of course, the communist ruling class would not know that, they lived in another world of the land of plenty.
Vegans sued McDs for frying their French fries in lard. Since then their fries have been awful. What will that fanatical fringe group do if animal fat is added to fake meat besides losing the rest of their protein deficient minds?
yes, when I worked at the King of Burgers in the 80’s, fries were cooked in beef tallow, that we’d get in, in big heavy boxes. the chicken and fish etc., were cooked in a liquid shortening that came in 5gal pails..
One of the requirements for proper brain development in youngsters is ANIMAL FATs.
No if ands or butt-roasts. Take it up with the creator!
Every three to four months I get a half pig delivered to my home uncut from the Hutterites here in Alberta. I cut it up myself and render all the fat put it in a mason jar and leave it in the fridge. Wife and I use it for cooking a lot. A beef steak fried in a iron skillet with pig fat is delicious.
Well, they won’t have any of my mouth-watering pies then. Lard produces a nice flakey, crispy crust.
My pie crust is to die for (maybe literally) with its pure butter base … but maybe I need to go to the Lard store?
Did not the socialist/fascist extremists that run British Columbia outlaw independent butcher shops?
Maybe they just made it impossible for them to be in the business.
The psychology of this issue is fascinating.
Why is it that vegans and vegetarians spend billions of dollars trying to make their food look and taste exactly like meat?
A rhetorical question, I presume?
Yes.
If a vegan swallows, is she still really a vegan?
I’d say a protein milkshake is off limits to a vegan … who are mostly all lesbians anyway
Is veganism/vegetarianism related to transgenderism, or is it just a happy coincidence?
Making a Big Pot of Beef Stew today.

No Bugs/Vegans/Liberals invited…although the thought of seeing a Liberal being roasted over a spit…?? makes me SMILE.
Gotta be careful eating Liberals. AWFL Wokeness might be one of those brain diseases transmitted by prions, like Mad Cow Disease.
Sounds delicious … as we a mushroom-adjacent family. Too bad mushrooms are $5.99/lb at the local Safeway. The green beans (which I LOVE) threw me off … they work good in your stew? Also I’d use beef stock in place of water … and a healthy splash of CA wine … however feel free to select a wine from the Okanagan Valley producers.
Tried a Beyond Burger some time ago. Garbage.
I mean…it’s not even close. My brother thought he’d get cute by putting all manner of toppings on it to mask the flavour.
Nah. Nice try bro.
I think they’re just trying to kill us. Before you know it we’ll all be eating dog food, differently labeled of course.
I noticed insect protein is showing up on the Hill’s dog food lables. It’s annoying. I try to get good food for the pups but just can’t do the refrigerated stuff (he said, not knowing that it’s any better). At $85 US for a 22 lb.. bag I’m stretched.
Anyhew…. off to cube up some affordable cow bits for a stew myself, thanks for the reminder.
“As consumers have become more health conscious over the years, with the vegan lifestyle getting a boost in popularity, you would think that the demand for plant-based meat would be skyrocketing.”
That is an idiotic comment. If you’re health conscious you don’t want to eat anything grown in a lab. Let mother nature grow our food. Be a vegan or be a meat eater, but rely on gold old mother nature for your food.
The dirty secret isn’t all the “lab” stuff.
It is actually a very old-school problem.
Beyond Meat, like many before them, essentially crams as much salt (sodium) into their product as legally possible to mask the off-putting “natural” taste of their product.
I wouldn’t touch the stuff with a 39-&-a-half foot pole.
Read the lists of ingredients on the box of fake meat/plant based, good lord how can anything with that many processed products be healthy?
It cannot
I’ll eat the still-beating hearts of my enemies before I eat bugs.

That seems to be the only thing that cuts through political BS.. Good ole fashioned fear that tomorrow will not come.. Enough of that and the war will end..
Everybody wants the government to give them a monopoly so they can sell their scht product.. Save the world, protect democracy and any other reason they can cook up to defund their opposition..
You don’t win anymore.. You regulate, defund and ban.. So your donors can make bank and hand it back to you.. We call this responsible government..
“So how are they gonna get people to eat bugs? Well, a combination of propaganda, indoctrinating children and making you very, very hungry… The goal, folks, is not to save the planet. It’s not about global warming. It’s not about sustainable development. It’s about enslaving humanity.”
Bold text: Where have I heard this before? Where have I heard this before?
Ohhhhh yeahhhh … the global warmists are indoctrinating our children and making us all very, very cold … and very, very POOR paying the punishing rates for electricity… not to mention carbon taxes.
I don’t understand why these folks want to spend big money to make plants taste like beef.
Cows have been doing that forever.
