The United States Supreme Court on Thursday heard arguments in a landmark case that will decide whether former President Donald Trump is ineligible to run for a second term in office because of his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election, which culminated in the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
Throughout the hearing, however, both liberal and conservative justices seemed highly skeptical of the decision by the Colorado Supreme Court to remove Trump from state ballots based on its reading of Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which bars those who have taken an oath of office and later “engaged in insurrection” from holding office gain.
MSNBC hardest hit.
Ouch. and ouch.

Article 3 Project spokesman Mike Davis was on Steven Bannon’s War Room show this am and was guessing maybe as hight as 8-1 with Sotomayor being the only holdout for the Democrats.
When Justice Jackson and Kagan were asking pointed questions with clear intent… note that Kagan was seriously questioning The State’s lawyer who had clerked for her… it wasn’t as though she simply disliked him. (don’t recall his name)
and, Justice Clarence Thomas spoke, which could indicate the degree to his being “fed up”.
I’m expecting 6-3 with mewling from the wide latina, about the “insurrection” being “self-executing” unlike pretty much every other law, and ignoring 18 U.S. Code § 2383.
I also expect Roberts to write the opinion, because he doesn’t want Thomas to
Thomas began speaking in oral arguments after Scalia died.
J6 was as much of an ‘insurrection’ as the injections were safe and effective and the election was safe and secure. J6 was a legitimate protest by Americans that saw the election results being skewed and wanted an investigation. The protest was sidetracked by FBI agents inserted within the crowd and by Capitol police that instigated and incited the crowd by use of flash bangs and rubber bullets. The Democrats can spew the insurrection BS and the spoon-fed morons will lap it up because they have lost the ability to think critically. In the crowd of 10,000 plus had there been 1% of them with insurrection on their minds then J6 would have been a blood bath and the police would have been on the losing end. There is no proof of insurrection, but there is proof that the election was not as safe and secure as the Democrats would have you believe.
There were 800 thousand people there. If it was a riot not one brick in DC would have remained atop another.
And in the Land Of The Gun, they brought all of seven.
Oooof! Gorsuch spanking his former clerk. That’s gotta hurt. “Please don’t change the hypotetical…I’m not going to say it again…” had to be the deepest cut. People are speculating where in Denver he’ll be operating his hotdog cart when this gets decided. My money’s on Denver.

They’re saying Clarence Thomas had an even better one…but damned if I can find it.
Even Biden appointee Ketanji-Jones isn’t buying what the collectivist cabal are peddling.
No doubt like Judge Cannon in DC, she’ll be branded a traitor for not allowing unconstitutional crap to stand.
This is an amendment that served a specific purpose, which President US Grant later gutted anyway.
State courts are infringing on federal jurisdiction.
Congress makes this determination, not private citizens or groups, which they haven’t.
The Quisling Committee of legal lackeys and their Stalinist 6 Jan collectivist charade notwithstanding.
No charge of insurrection, let along conviction.
President not named and argument he could be included as “officials under the United States,” is beyond ambiguous, it is bogus, given Congress and POTUS are co-equal branches of government, not some “officials.”
This is very likely headed for a 9-0 stay/reversal or at least a majority reversal with no minority opinion.
It’ll be fun to watch the DeMarxists claim victory here, who are probably breathing a sigh of relief, given the highly unlikely possibility of a favourable ruling opens the door to GOP state removals, capping off a bad week that says if Trump isn’t immune for presidential actions, or deemed not to be, then march in Obama and Biden.
I don’t trust any of the leftists to be reasonable. If they side with the conservatives it is because they think Trump is a flawed candidate and they want him on the ballot.
Anything other than a 9-0 repudiation of this NONSENSE points to Justices who warrant removal due to mental incompetence. We work on a basis of Crime – then – Punishment. Not Punishment – then maybe we’ll suggest you committed a crime.
Seriously … anything other than 9-0 and those Justices who voted to allow this TRAVESTY should be removed from the Court for cause.
Colorado fully expect the supemes to defeat their motion to remove Trump from the ballot. Nobody was found guilty of insurrection. They are doing this little charade to show off their woke bona fides.
I’d be interesting to see supremes just decline to make a decision and make Colorado 100% responsible for their decision to keep Trump off the ballot. And deal with the consequences.
Since the Dems are insane, maybe their play all along was to expect this decision, then wail about it and how the SC is a threat to democracy. They’ll encourage their mobs and media to delegitimize the SC with the hope of ignoring their “dangerous” ruling and thus further destroy the Constitution, or move to expand and stack the court so that such rulings could never again “threaten democracy”.
Now you’re seeing the win-win for the Marxist maniacs.

Trump’s first sin was having a winning economic platform.. His second was having the wrong blood line.. Third was picking a large construction project that was doable, measurable.. That he could campaign for his second term on.. They went ballistic over that move, even though it was the right thing to do..
In a town that likes to fight racism and climate change.. He broke all the rules and that makes him the DEVIL..
Actually Trump’s cardinal sin was winning against Her. Well, at least in the minds of democrats.
You deplorables were told who you were supposed to elect, and for your insolence you shall be punished.
Just as soon as they can get Trump out of the way.
In somewhat related American “justice” news, Steyn and Simberg lose to Mann. 1 megabucks awarded from each defendant.
I’ve seen the statement from Simberg. He was only told to pay $1,000, but Mann has to pay Simberg $4,400 as sanctions for a deceptive deposition. Steyn has to pay $1,000,000. I guess the jury doesn’t like the whole foreign schtick pointing out how corrupt the US judicial system is.
No, 1 dollar, plus 1000 punitive to Simberg and 1 million for Steyn. This will be appealed by Steyn at least. Mann already owes Simberg more than $4000.
The people at msnbc couldn’t take a dump in the woods without written instructions and someone helping them.
And then they would finish up with it on their nose.
The amendment only applies to individual states and not the office of the President. If in 1868, the majority of the citizens nationally wanted to elect Jefferson Davis as POTUS it would have been perfectly legal.
I’m of the opinion that all the justices will rule in Trump’s favour.
There is a point where the left leaning justices recognize they are being used and they take exception to it.
The response will be that even if they don’t like a candidate the court room is no place to fight an election.
That and even they are recognizing Biden’s diminishing mental state.
No riot and no insurrection. The democrat communists arranged that with the help of the FBI and other alphabet agencies.
