  1. Martyr Fidel Castro? Maybe they were thinking of Che Guevera and are just stupid. But he wasn’t a martyr either. He was trying to kill Bolivian peasant soldiers but they killed him first. Sucked to be him.

  2. Che also ran the executions on Wednesday’s in Cuba. Hemingway claimed to have been invited (as an observer). They shot the weekly ‘enemies’ and then everyone went and had drinks.

Maybe Rachel Notley can volunteer to indoctrinate the kids? She’s a big Che fan and she’ll be looking for something to do.

    1. I must admit that I missed the Castro martyrdom documentary.
Might get to see the socialist pope give him Sainthood.
Or posthumously the Noble Peace Prize.

  3. “Decolonization” !!!??? Yes Kate … and they’re coming for your colonialist grain bin.

Seriously … how long till they’re demanding our real estate deeds? Or moving in with us like a bad scene from Dr. Zhivago

  4. Why are they celebrating him now?
His Bday was 13 August 1926. His death day was 25 November 2016.
Father’s Day for Justin isn’t until June.

Why Today? The only vermin that should be celebrated today are Punxsutawney Phil and his fellow Groundhogs.

  5. Wish we had hopper bottoms when I was a kid.

Bring back Mcarthyism. Make hating commies cool again.

    1. I’ll be one of your droogs, Alex … however Colonista may not approve since the word droog is derived from the Russian language … speaking of Communists …

Droog (‘друг’ or ‘droog’ meaning ‘friend’)

      1. Anthony Burgess was a master of nuanced linguistics. Check out his book called A Mouthful of Air.
As for a Westeel grain bin, I also have longed for a gun turret.

  7. re castro, kinda looks like the left is now shopping around for their heroes of the day, not waiting for them to just show up and announce themselves. the low hangin fruit if ya will, allll picked off the tree planted by karl marx. gawd when did he start scribbling away in the British Library just to keep warm?

  8. Parrots Turdeau’s eulogy for Fidel:

“Fidel Castro was a larger than life leader who served his people for almost half a century. A legendary revolutionary and orator, Mr. Castro made significant improvements to the education and healthcare of his island nation.

“While a controversial figure, both Mr. Castro’s supporters and detractors recognized his tremendous dedication and love for the Cuban people who had a deep and lasting affection for “el Comandante”. “

    Fellow travellers and all that
