Serve and protect now means serve the coffee and protect the donuts?
Toronto Star- Toronto police union says protest cops deserved more support after coffee delivery blowback
In a memo to members obtained by the Star, the police union wrote that the officers in question, who it said were working in service of “keeping the peace,” have been unfairly portrayed as “ineffectual and negligent in their duties.”

Nothing “unfair” about it, when they are delivering coffee from one set of protesters to another…
Was this ordered, or was it on their own initiative?
Contrast this with the amount of revenue enforcement that the TPS engages in, or the six car fulls of officers that showed up for the workers rescue at the construction site where a genie boom was struck by a bus…
I would think that many of the cops at the HAMAShole Love Ins were also helped to shut down BBQ restaurants, etc., here in Thug Fraud’s Lockdownistan, Trudeautopia (formerly Ontario, Canada), so…they caneff off.
That was my first thought:

Bang-on
I don’t recall a single donut or cup of coffee delivered to The Truckers … in order to “keep the peace”. Funny thing that.
Hint: the police are government UNIONISTAS … as such … they’re all Leftists who HATE the citizens who would control their wages and benefits.
The same ones that got-off on running horses over seniors.
The only reason they have been considered to be “ineffectual and negligent in their duties” is because they are “ineffectual and negligent in their duties”.
The main role of any police force is to preserve public order. We may disapprove of some of the things they do, but that’s how they see their job – preserve public order whatever it takes.
When they pick and choose which sides they will support and which they will outright harass that IS NOT preserving public order.

EXACTLY CORRECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I always enjoy your thoughtful comments Thomas……keep it coming……..
Really?
Who would have guessed as I thought that their main role is/was enforcement ….and, in this case, was failure.
Get real. I’m sure the same cops would likewise deliver bagels and lox to anti-hamas Jewish protesters? Sure – when matsoh sticks to the moon.
The cops who participated in this fully deserve the scorn and shame heaped upon them. So do their supporters.

Why did they think that preserving public order means becoming UberEats delivery guys? Here’s an idea – don’t bring them coffee, donuts or anything else to eat and drink, and maybe when they get hungry and thirsty enough, they’ll get off the overpass.
The police seem more interested in preserving their political orders than preserving public order.
One thing that bothers me about the hamas/anti-Israel protests is the comparison to the Freedom Convoy. The Freedom Convoy was protesting the Canadian government at the seat of power, Parliament, to change government legislation The Hamas protests are often harassing Canadian citizens, Jews, at their businesses and neighborhoods about a war half a world away from here. Not the same thing at all. Police aren’t doing enough to stop the harassment of Jewish Canadians, choosing to appease and assist hamas protesters instead.
Because “Ve are chust followink orters!”
Just like during covid lockdowns when police were videoed aggressively nanhandling a tween on a skateboard at a park. Or aggressively arresting a defenseless senior for breaking a bylaw against honking in support of the Freedom Convoy. Or aggressively arresting a journalists on a contrived “assault’ charge for asking an elected politician uncomfortable questions. Or illegally confiscating guns after ordering evacuations during the High River floods.
“Just following orders.”
Define “public order”
The main role of any police force is to enforce the law. That includes the Constitution and the Police Act.
I don’t disagree that they see their role differently, but that’s the problem.
well, I’m pretty sure the Crown Prosecutors disagree at this point, because it’s just a revolving door.
yeah. That’s why they killed Rodger Kotanko, to preserve public order.
That whole thing stinks like week-old fish, and we are -never- going to find out what happened there.
Playing the wounded bunny card. Saw it coming a mile away.
Officer Barista.
You forgot his first name….Tim
The Toronto Star has finally found a police force it can support. Right around the time they discovered the glories of islam.
Preserving public order is done by the police by applying and enforcing the law uniformly and equally. It’s not done by picking sides or being selective. In this the Toronto Police are negligent.
The Toronto police are encouraging the mob. They should wear brown shirts.
Or black in the case of Italy
They could fly those little palistain flags on the windows of the cruisers maybe?
Might make our palistainian ‘neighbors’ more welcome, no?
Those GD cops ain’t what they used to be!!
Right beside the homo-groomer flag.

portrayed as “ineffectual and negligent in their duties.”
No, It was a case of cowardice in the face of a determined enemy.
TPS =
Toronto Pastry Supply
Got any others?
“ineffectual and negligent in their duties.”
They have one duty: to preserve their pensions.
well , i remember them delivering coffee to BLM protests and the truckers.
oh yeah , no I dont .
“Protesters counter saying they only wish to drape pro-Palestinian banners along the overpass to attract attention for their cause.”
One might ask how many overpasses there are in the city of Toronto, and why they chose this particular overpass.
“Protest leaders said the police’s decision to prevent them from hanging banners along the overpass, as they had done the week before, was evidence of them “bowing to Zionist interests.””
there it is…
Police represent institutionalized force. They are there to do the governments bidding. Nothing else.
They are not your friend. How could they be?
