Pearson was fired for cause. She is not faculty protected by academic freedom.
“One can never conflate … speech in the public sphere with speech in the workplace. And the scope of the ‘workplace’ … include[s] speech anywhere which impacts your employer.”
Powers denied the photographic and video evidence of rape. Universities are about evidence. You don’t get to pull the post-modern ‘it’s your reality not my reality’ bullshit there.
I’m sure there are multiple jobs she can do for cash….
She’s not close to being good looking enough for those jobs
The Canadian dollar no longer buys what it once did…..
True
Maybe after she transitions?
She’ll undoubtedly find a welcoming home in the NDP.
She needs a rape kit performed on her … good and hard
I’ve gotta tell you that Howard Levitt is a shark. Go against him, and you will be nothing but shreds. My husband, years ago, hired him over a grievous workplace insult/firing, and although it took months, Howard came through for us. The award was small (mostly Howard’s fees), but winning the case changed the whole trajectory of my husband’s career.
I’m glad Levitt’s representation worked out for your husband, but he was adamant that employers were within their rights to compel/coerce the jab on their employees, regardless of medical privacy and rights as outlined in the Nuremberg Code. Despite his employment law credentials, it seemed to me he either fundamentally misread the implications of his stance, succumbed to fear/propaganda, or sheepishly followed the narrative.
Maybe he just knew what he was up against?
Yes, that Sarah Jama, the former NDP, now Independent, Ontario MPP.
University of Alberta Sexual Assault Centre signs Sarah Jama’s letter denying Jewish rapes https://archive.li/wUldO
There’s zero reason for university campuses to have “Sexual Assault Centers” in the first place. By any measure sexual assault is less common on campuses than in the citites that host them, or in the population generally.
Sexual Assault Centers only exist because campus feminists overwhelmingly come from the white upper middle class who were sheltered princesses their entire lives, get to university, and suddenly discover the world is a big scary place. They then demand that the university step in and replace Daddy as their shield against having to grow up and accept responsibility for their own actions.
U of A doesn’t care about her antisemitic views, and appointing an interim director won’t make the slightest difference beyond the new director being reminded not to say the quiet part out loud.
For that matter, U of A doesn’t care about the Center’s mission, either; such institutions are openly dedicated to cult-Marx agitation. I’ve seen university sexual assault centers in Ontario dissuade women from pursuing action against a rapist because he was an immigrant or a painted savage.
>Universities are about evidence.
I’m not sure which MCU alternate universe you’re living in, but it isn’t this one.
This might be the best thing that ever happened to her if she is forced to go out and find a real job.
She’ll run for office as a New Democrat.
Or work for the NDP.
Or maybe work for Edmonton’s mayor
Assuming they don’t end up reinstating her, with profuse apologies for being so mean and judgemental; if she doesn’t get hired by other like-minded entities in the interim… I mean, how woke is this place? And isn’t it more likely to get worse, not better?!
Good news. It doesn’t happen very often.
Some places have idiots working HR!
And they should also be fired for hiring that twit.
Good riddance.
Wish her best of luck in her new career in the prison system of the State of Israel, teaching Hamas thugs about consent.
For every one person who publicly states support for Hamas, there are no doubt 100 who are smart enough to keep their mouths shut.
I am no fan of the individual or her politics BUT firing her over Israeli propaganda is a bit of a stretch. Kind of like the Hamas tunnels under the hospital that were built by Israel and the fake weapons cache with crates with English labels in the Israeli propaganda film. I do pray for Israel but I can not go along with the present regime and its genocidal tendencies. Some assume this conflict (under the control of Israel) is all about clearing the temple mount to rebuild the Jewish temple. Others assume that this war is about getting control of the large natural gas field found off the coast of Gaza that Israel wants so it can supply Europe with gas now that the Nord Stream pipes are gone. One thing I do know is that Israel was not taken by surprise on Oct 7. There is much much much more to this story than Virgin Israel being ravaged by the animal Hamas. There is enough evil on both sides to give us all pause.

It hasn’t hurt Jagmeet Singh.

Justin Trudeau’s government gave him $133,000 to build an “anti-racism strategy” for Canadian broadcasting.
I’m shocked to learn this, absolutely shocked: https://twitter.com/michaeloshry/status/1725687991455408594
